The staff here are great. However, I specifically asked for solid gold earrings. The website says that the gold jewelry is solid gold. The technician put in the earrings, so I never actually held them or saw them. After five days my ears started itching and feeling ugly. When I took out the two earrings, I found that the backs (and the part that actually goes into your ear) are titanium to which I have a sensitivity. $500 for two small earrings and they won't give me a refund or give me the gold backs I asked for. Sadly, this is dishonest from an otherwise great place and I can't recommend them. read more

Guys.... Aileen is FANTASTIC. I did some research ahead of time knowing i wanted 1 of 2 options for my ear to get pierced. I looked into Alchemist based on the fact they have solid, high quality jewelry and good reviews. Aileen's track record looks legitimate so I decided to take the dive. My husband running a half marathon brought us to Bismarck, and I thought it was ideal timing to go get my piercings while he decompressed form the race. They will take appointments but since it was 10 AM, I figured the wait for a walk-in wouldn't take long. I was promptly greeted by a nice fellow at the counter and soon met Aileen. She was quick to tell me what would or wouldn't work from my options. She was so professional, yet, engaging and funny. I filled out my paperwork and shuffled to her backroom. I got the spots for the earrings traced on my ears -- perfect placement and exactly what i was going for. After laying down, Aileen kept me relaxed and slipped the earrings in. Yes, it hurt -- but it's a piercing, guys, so that's expected of course! I have zero complaints about my experience and may return if i have a tattoo in my near future. This was one of the most professional and clean tattoo/piercing places I have been. And Aileen made me happy and said how good the end product was -- ego booster! Well done Alchemist team! read more

I'm from out of town and needed a new labret for my conch as I dropped mine down the sink! My usual piercer in Dallas recommended me here as they are APP certified. I was a walk in, explained my situation and was helped right away. Allyx evaluated what size I needed, installed it and gave a nice secure plastic container to store my removed piece in. Even though it was clear I would probably not need future services, as I travel the country full-time, Allyx was very attentive and kind. If I'm ever back in Bismarck and get the urge to get pierced, I will definitely schedule with Allyx. No wonder they were thrilled to have her return! Go check them out. My dog passed away so my husband and I searched for a place to do a paw print tattoo since we are new to the state. After some research it was clear that this was the best shop in Bismarck so we called to make an appointment. Since this was time sensitive, we went with whatever artist had an opening which was Suanne Galloway. We got the appointment 2 weeks later and she was very nice and got the job done very quick and just as I had requested. Would visit again for small pieces, but still have my regular artist to work on large projects. Very inexpensive too, and the shop was very clean and organized. read more

Absolutely love this place and the employees. They're very helpful and have your best interest in mind at all times. However, I didn't give this place a five stars because of one person. Alex Foster is a piercer here that is unprofessional and often rude. She has rejected to do piercings for me multiple times. Just recently when I went she rejected to pierce me because "she was having a bad day". This is so unprofessional and an extreme inconvenience to myself and possible others she's done this too. From now on, I don't even bother going in if I know she's working. read more

Honestly, I was looking forward to getting inked here. I took the time to prep materials to share with the "artist"- as a tattoo is more than just body adornment for me. It signifies a profound truth, and is spiritual and shamanic. To my severe disappointment, after having had to wait 4 days just to have a "consultation", the artist had not even taken the time to connect with what I had shared. Also, was asking for a security deposit which I was not comfortable laying down, as the actual work would be done 5 months later. So very disappointed, as I had high hopes. The staff seems super cliquey and hardly conversant in any capacity, with the exception of Connor. Too bad he was just the middle guy receptionist, and not the artist. If you want to get inked to be trendy, go here. If ink represents something deeper for you, stay away. Stay far far away. This place will sucker out your enthusiasm, your light, and your soul. read more

Really rolling the dice with this place. Whether it's a tattoo or a piercing, it's either going to go great or awful. Ive had a few tattoos done here and some turned out amazing and some pretty crappy. I've also had piercings done here and Aileen is extremely rough. Don't get me wrong, everyone in the shop is extremely kind, but not always very helpful with everything you need to know. When i got my ear pierced they did not inform me that the jewelery I chose wasn't a beginner piece and that my ear would swell with no room to heal. I ended up having to go to a different shop to get it removed and have a beginner piece put in. They were completely shocked that a piercer would put in my first choice of jewelry right off the bat. So after spending waaay to much for the jewelry i LOVED, I had to have it removed and pay for another piece of jewelery to be put in. My opinion, your paying way to much for a 50/50 chance of being pleased at Alchemist. read more

I regret trusting Rich with my most important piece. This piece required very specific color choices to which Rich responded "that's no problem" during our consultation. Although I did provide a design example, I allowed Rich to utilize his creative liberties in the final design however I was very specific with the coloration. Nonetheless, his creative liberties spilled over into the coloration. Before the haters get on me with "color looks different once it heals and skin tones make a difference", his color selection is nowhere near what I wanted. His color choices took away every ounce of meaning of the tattoo. Unfortunately I didn't realize this until it was too late. He got extremely upset when I pointed out his error and attempted to fix it but ending up overworking the skin (which later did become infected). At that point he offered me a follow-up visit once it heals to attempt to remedy the issue. After initially accepting responsibility for the error, he has since done a complete 180 and has placed the entire blame on me. I don't know how much more I could spell out the specific colors that were required other than the examples I provided which he had right in front of him. He must be color blind is all that I can think of. Nonetheless, his refusing to accept responsibility for his actions says a lot about his character and I regret ever trusting him with something so important to me. What's even more disappointing is when made aware of the issue the shop owners, Simeon and Chris, have yet to reach out to attempt to remedy situation which says a lot about their character. Needless to say I will not be returning to Alchemist Tattoo for any future work. I have since consulted the best in the business to see if he can attempt to salvage the piece, unfortunately he doesn't think he can. I guess my only other options are to have it lasered off or appear on Tattoo Nightmares. To sum it up, I trusted the wrong artist with the most important, most expensive, and largest piece that is a disgrace to my body. The real kicker is Rich didn't even offer me a discount! read more
