This supermarket has been opened in Bondi Junction since 2014 sometime. I decided I would give it a chance after all you got to check out different places for options sometimes. I have shopped in Aldi in Europe so knew what to expect. This store is a little fancier then your typical Aldi in that it's got wooden floors and a lot more spacious then some of them. You can definitely see that prices are cheaper in here. Might not have all the household names but if you were selective with your shopping you can trim your weekly shop for sure. They are good for meats and fresh produce and pantry items that brands don't matter so much. Aldi doesn't offer bags though so be prepared with your own and on Occassion you can get quite a long line up for the register as they aren't big on service here. Tonight though wasn't any problem with that but be prepared to wait if it's a peak time. Would come back here again because I did save money compared to what I would pay with the Giants.

Woolies and Coles open till midnight ex: If I need to do shopping after work such as after 8pm, I cannot come here and have to go somewhere else. Ok, so I get that it's a discount supermarket and things like service and cleanliness take a back seat to low, low prices on everything, everyday but Aldi take it to the absolute limit. The shelves a scantly stacked in a seemingly random order, I mean, who puts baby wipes next to chocolate and tuna next to seeds and nuts? Admittedly, they have some killer bargains on some of the most random stuff and the prices are really, really good. One thing I can't recommend highly enough is the meat. I kid you not, theses steaks are the bomb, better than other supermarkets and turbo lean. If you've got a sweet tooth, you'll love the extraordinarily large range of European sweet delights. The fruit and veg is inconsistent but averages out at poor. If you want to put your groceries in a trolley, it'll cost you $2 (you get it back when you return the trolley) or you can buy a branded key chain with a little token on it to replace your $2 coin. alternatively, you can drag a basket behind you. The checkout is an experience in itself - it's like Supermarket Sweep on steroids. There's this unspoken game between you and the checkout staff as to who can scan/pack faster. I win. Overall, it's not a terrible experience, you can do 80% of your shopping here but you will still need to visit a regular supermarket. The annoying part is, being in the middle of North Sydney, what you save on groceries, you make up for in parking.

Each week they have a sale of random goods and it looks like they do not disappear if they are not sold! This time I saw a random assortment of ski gear in large containers (looked like an Aldi employee had poured in the goods then used a rake to jumble up the different things), walking frames, dishwashers etc. Amusing seeing people trawling through the jumbled assortment of goods. As for food, the quality is a lot better than what I had expected! Can find a lot of basics. Great corn chips, chips, chocolate snacks, pastries... Not so good olive oil. I clutch onto my items navigating around the store in a messy state and always forget to bring shopping bags so end up holding stuff on the street, I feel just like the store.

You can just duck down and grab whatever it is you're out of. And this Spar has just about everything you could want. It is a bit pricier than the Woolies up at Redfern Oval, but I guess that's the cost of convenience. When you're battling to not binge on chips, lollies and soft drink, it's the worst. They have an amazing range of all the above and more. I mean they have all those obscure imported soft drinks like Dr Pepper in all their high fructose corn syrupy goodness!! Actually, come to think of it (leaves to go get a Dr Pepper...) P.S. The staff are really friendly and always happy to help you find something.

It has everything you need in terms of groceries, although I do wish they had a larger selection of snacks (haha...). The place isn't huge but it's got the necessities. There's also a bakery right next to it. I believe they're getting rid of plastic bags in July.

I never much liked going to Aldi, the pared back Supermarket, with it's disheveled shelves of Euro…read morebrand products. I always felt a bit scummy trawling through the mass, yet with the economic crisis it is now considered 'savvy', not 'tight', to be keeping an eye on your pennies. And many pennies you may save! They have a system of leaving the products in the box they got delivered in. They don't have to pay shelve stackers to sort it out and that is how they keep there prices so low. They are unbelievably low too! You either have to buy a bag, bring your own shopping bag or better still, just grab one of the empty boxes lying about the place and start to fill it with goods. The difference in price is astronomical. I filled a medium sized box and it cost me $30. $30 at Coles would fill a third of a shopping bag. Aldi stocks some pretty diverse products too. You can get a Digital camera for $60 and sometimes they have TV's and tents and coffee tables and many other disparate items in their budget store. Aldi is a great first stop and if they don't have the items you need then go elsewhere with all that money you saved. Some of their veggies are absolutely fresh and fine and the price is so low you wonder why you were such a snob about it before.

I don't know why, but it seems like the kind of Machiavellian thing an oligopolist would do. I still shop here of course. I mean you have to for some things. My fruit & veg I get from a n awesome Chinese grocer, or the local fruit shop. But if I need washing powder? Or a toothbrush? Or Tim Tams at 50% off? Yep. The big W. Well not THE Big W, that's different, but you know what I mean. Plus its 2mins away from my house and my mum shops here.

This store feels new and fresh (unlike some of those IGAs, Friendly's and Franklins - you know who you are...). It is fairly big and has a good range of stock, including some good organic/fairtrade products. I've found that my basket is about the same price as what I have previously spent at Leichhardt/Broadway Coles - some things are cheaper, others slightly more expensive. However! If you hold a Seniors card, they offer 5% off every Wednesday ***If you're not a Senior, I recommend avoiding Wednesday**** PLUS they offer 10% off your groceries (over $100) on the first Thursday of the month. Still can't quite get everything I want from here, but almost :) AND you don't have to listen to that awful new "prices are down" jingle that Coles uses to lure you into thinking that shopping with them is cheap!

Imagine slowly browsing wide aisles, while (mostly 90's) music is playing at a comfortable volume. Sometimes I find myself bopping up and down the aisles :) There are very few kids in here, and the ones you see are very well behaved! I have not seen a single tantrum in this supermarket! The range is very extensive - I think as good as a Coles or Woolworths. But even though they have some great specials, you will pay more overall. Fruit and veg seem to be the main offenders on price, except for the specials. If you can, go on the first Thursday of the month for the 10% off special. It's well worth it!
