At RJ's I know what I'm buying. I can see with my own eyes that the beef is being ground in a nice clean area by trained adults. When you buy ground beef from a large store, it was probably ground in a meat packing plant. It probably has preservatives. You don't know where the meat was sourced from and you don't know the conditions that it was processed under. They carry Boars Head deli meat and cheeses. Boars Head is high quality and always sliced fresh in front of you. They have the best fresh brats I've ever had. All of their fresh meat is top-notch. Their homemade dogs, sausages, marinated meats, beef sticks are all delicious. You have to try the BBQ baked beans. I could go on and on about all of their products! If you're looking to compete with Popeye's gun show, you need to sail on over to Red Wing Olive Oils and Vinegars to get yourself some oils for all the spinach you'll be eating. Even if you aren't normally a salad person, the deliciously infused oils here might just change your mind. This shop is the sister store to Pass Christian Olive Oils and Vinegars near New Orleans, and they also have location in Northfield, MN. Their award-winning olive oils and balsamic vinegars are sourced from Modena, Italy, so you know you're getting a great product. They have tons of varieties for you to taste test, so it's difficult to narrow down what to buy. If I were cold-pressed to pick a few, my favorites would all be non-balsamic oils: Tuscan Herb-infused EVOO, Basil- infused EOO, and Herbs De Provence-infused EVOO. Vinegar in general leaves me...as Popeye would say, "disgustipated", so I can't comment on those varieties. I recently tried the Jalapeno-infused EVOO for the first time, and it blew me away. I can't imagine eating "me spinach" without it now! The oils are reasonably priced: $7.00 for a 60Mil bottle; $12 for a 200 Mil bottle, and $20 for a 375 Mil bottle. I'm not an olive oil sommelier-- "I yam what I yam, an' that's all I yam." But in my opinion, it is worth it to visit this shop to taste test and stock up on some delicious oils for your pantry. What a glorious cheese shop out in the Wisconsin countryside! The retail shop is small but is packed with a diverse array of options. Eau Galle produces a lot of their own cheeses, especially ones in Italian styles, but the shop also hosts many cheese from across Wisconsin and abroad. Most tend to be firmer cheeses like cheddars and goudas, with few soft rinds and young blues. There is also cheese-themed home decor and apparel, and lots of accompaniments for cheese like jams, pickled vegetables, honeys, and many sausages. This is a perfect place to put together a gift basket for someone who enjoys good food! Oh, and there is alcohol, too, requisite New Glarus packs, local ciders, and wines. Fudges and candies offer temptation right at the checkout. The cashier was friendly and helpful. This is definitely a place that I hope to return to soon!
