I had the Iberian sandwich which has Iberian prosciutto, flamengo cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickled red onion. It was the perfect sandwich to cure my hangry. When we went for lunch the day before we did not know that this café was also the breakfast part of our bed and breakfast. We stayed at a bed-and-breakfast the next street over and both mornings a continental breakfast at this café was included. This is one of the best breakfasts I have ever had as part of the bed-and-breakfast. We were each served a portion of fresh fruit (which changed by the day), a boiled egg, a couple slices of ham and cheese, a pastel de nata, a basket of crossiants and rolls to share, and whatever you would like to drink. I had fresh squeezed orange juice, and a latte both days. Thankfully, like most places in Portugal they offer dairy alternatives. I honestly still dream about this breakfast. The wait staff on all of our trips were so friendly and helpful. It is really a beautiful set up and they have many things that you can purchase as well. I personally purchased a bowl shaped like a strawberry that I now have in my kitchen. This is definitely a stop. You need to make while in Sintra!

Fun historical note: the bakery was established in 1862 (164 years ago!) by baker Amaro dos Santos and his wife Constância Gomes, and it is now managed by the fifth generation of the family, which makes the quick coffee stop feel even more special.

The girl behind the counter was ok didn't seem like she wanted to be at work today but was ok overall I guess. Every pastry is pretty filling so they're great for sharing with your love. Perfect spot for an afternoon tea or coffee. Hope you're wearing trail shoes (or footwear with really good treading) when you visit, the streets are slippery. I think folks get a kick out of seeing people slip and fall on their butts when walking around this area.

I saw a woman bring a dozen to our breakfast spot, Cafe Saudude. The egg tarts are well known in Macau, Hong Kong, and now in China. The queijadinha, 葡式椰香小蛋糕 or 巴西椰蓉球, is less popular. Per wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queijadinha - Queijadinha is a custard tart that originated in Brazil. The locals, aka the Portuguese, beg to differ. Another aspect of Brazilian influence on Portugal is that, even though Portugal was the colonizer and Brazil was the colony. It's funny to get different answers on who or where Queijadinha originated. Our guest house lady from Sintra said, "Wiki is wrong. It's from Portugal." One Uber driver from Brazil said straight, "Oh, it's from Brazil." Wherever it originated, it's delicious from Sapa. They have a minimum of €4.5 for a credit card purchase.

I found the quality of their coffee very good as well. Service is welcoming. The ambience is calm and inviting. P.S. Update on the pastel de nata. It's really really good! Soft enough on top and hard enough at the bottom. There are very few places in Portugal where they take it to such a perfection.
