The AAA horror story…read more We went to Les Schwab May 10 to get new tires for our 25 ft. Class C Motor Home after getting it serviced for our trip to Idaho I had value extender's for the back Dual tires so if they were low, I could fill them up at home. You drill a hole in the Hub Cap and attach the hose's with nuts. Schwab put them on the new tires as I had them with no comment. Jackie, Marlyn [her friend from Az who is helping with setting up our new Home] and I left Sacramento at 6:30 am, they driving the 2 cars and me the RV. We were on I80 around 11am about 3 miles past US 95 turn off, past Fernley, NV when the hub Cap went flying off, due to not being put on correctly, and thus lost air on the back passenger side tires, I got to the side of the road, Jackie pulled in behind me and told me what happened as she had to dodge the flying hub cap. I then called AAA for roadside assistance, been a member for 10+ years, as I have Premium service with them which cover's the RV. This is Sunday, May 12, Mother's Day and to make this a short story AAA said they could not find anyone to come out until the next day. They said I could call a commercial tow company to take care of us and they would reimburse us for the charges. They would not provide this as part of their customer service, what with all their resources on hand. I am 78 years old and have been a member for over 10 years and I could not believe they would leave me stranded on the side of the road, BUT THEY DID. Thanks for my wife and Fiend who helped me get thru this. I then remembered that I had Progressive Ins. for the RV and called them, they got us Service from Winnemucca in no time at all, 90 miles away to come get us, they came around 3:30, a tow truck and a Tire truck, moved the front 2 tires to the rear and then towed us to the Les Schwab in Winnemucca so Monday morning the issue could be fixed. Jackie and Marlyn went to a Motel and I stayed with the Rig, Schwab opens at 8 am but a guy came out at 7:30, got the story and around 7:50 am, a guy came out and started getting me fixed. I had him take off the value extenders from the other side and by 9 am we were on our way. So the morale of this story is I will no longer be a member of AAA and will slam them every chance I get.
