Alex was a decent option on an afternoon wandering around Alexanderplatz, and the location under the TV tower was a good one. Alex is your standard fare around the country, and this was no different. I had veg schnitzel, which was a nice option to be able to try. Alas, my friend's "Italian bread salad" featured chunks of greasy Italian bread that did not agree with her. One of the best breakfast buffets I've ever had! Not sure if it's a good thing I came across this place on my 2nd day in Berlin or not, because after this I didn't want to go anywhere else for breakfast (and didn't). Here you can have a breakfast buffet for 7.90EUR with complimentary orange juice. Cereals, yogurts, eggs (scrambled, hardboiled), sausages, bacon, hams, salads, smoked salmon, deserts etc. Really big selection it is perfect for any traveller particularly to fill up before a long day of siteseeing. Don't think there's any point going anywhere else for breakfast in Berlin when there's this place. Also came here for a few lunches and their burgers with chips are delicious and filling as well as Wiener Schnitzels. Great place! read more

Come here for breakfast!! Hot buffet breakfast till12 noon for less than EU 8 in Berlin can't be beat. Also grab a large cafe au lait, it comes in a small soup bowl! You can skip lunch after filling up here and happily hit the museum trail. read more

This restaurant "Alex" is right under the Berlin TV Tower, sure is a great location. It got lots of great shops around and thing can do. The restaurant is quite big as well, got a really nice atmosphere, made a a great place to hang around with friends or just take a break from the long walk. I was there with friends, we spent quite a long time here. What we really like, were their drinks. I couldn't really judge their food, since I haven't try any their special dishes. Well, for me, the dish I ordered, my burger was ok, not bad actually, just I tasted something better before. I thought, since this place is right under one of the most famous landmarks of Berlin, the price could be crazy expensive here. It wasn't the case, it was surprisingly reasonable. The employees here are also really friendly, if you need anything, they will like to help, even some tourist's questions. I think, this is a great place to sit down just have yourself a drink or two, enjoy the nice view around, especially in summer. read more

I have never ever encoutered such a situation in my whole lifetime. Not only the waiters/waitresses are rude and racist( one of the waiters mimicing our eyes since we are Asians and said he is not our monkey. Excuse me? And we asked for an English menu n the waitress just threw it on the table),but also we asked the manager to ask the waiter to apologise , whose apology was fake from heads to toes. And we confronted the waiter about his intolerantly rude attitude, he went "what's your problem." . We were so shook by this. At the end, the manager said:" this is not your location, please change to an another restaurant next time. Decent cafe near Alexanderplatz. I had bunless honey mustard burger and it was quite nice. Apparently they have gluten free bread available as well. They have free WiFi, but you have to enter your phone number and get a code texted to you to access it for an hour. read more

THE SERVICE SUCKS!! My boyfriend and I came for dinner. We ordered an appetizer and 2 drinks to start. Waitress then returned 20 min later to take our entree orders. Drinks didn't take too long but after 25 min they brought the appetizer along with my bf's entree. They didn't bring my entree out for another 45 MINUTES. I had to eat my entree by myself. He ordered a dessert so that I wouldn't eat by myself. It's been another 45 min they still have not brought it to table. RIDICULOUS!!! We are still waiting... The servers have not even checked on us since we ordered the dessert. we have been sitting here with my empty entree platter, and empty drink cups for over 35 minutes. We needed some serious fuel before our six hour walking tour so we stopped in Alex. It's a cute restaurant with a comfy atmosphere. We sat down. It took our waiter quite a while to acknowledge us. We had delicious mojitos which were very reasonably priced. I had been craving schnitzel since I planned my trip to Germany, so the cheap schnitzel options really drew us in. We both had the schnitzel champignon with fried mushrooms and sauteed onions with a big order of fries and an unbelievable gravy. The service is terrible don't come here unless you plan on waiting 30 minutes to even be asked for a drink. I don't think he liked that we were tourists. Food was fine. Service was bad overall though. We asked for check multiple times and received it over an hour later and the server was very frustrated when we paid. Fine food, terrible atmosphere. read more

In general, I've had some good times (easy 3-4+ stars) here, but rating it 2 as a cautionary message, because I've had a particularly irritable waiter today. I've raised my hand and called for him "Entschuldigung", just to make sure a still undelivered part of my order (that normally goes with the dish, but was ordered later) will still come. To this, he snapped back to "WAIT A MOMENT", and when he delivered the additional stuff and I said "Thanks", he was maniacally saying "BITTE SEHR, BITTE SEHR, BITTE SEHR", because I had called him before, to which I said again, "Thanks, it was just to make sure about this", to which he says in German "If you gonna keep calling me, it's gonna take LONGER!" and leaves. After some minutes he was trying again to be polite as a kind of compensation, probably cause he figured out he was over the line. So, while I would still recommend the place, I would suggest taking a moment to observe the staff and try to pick someone with a friendly face. I felt compelled to take time out of my day and write a bad review for this place because of the extreme rudeness from the staff. This is rude even by German standards. As my friend and I sat down and i browsed the menu, she took a few bites of her sandwich from earlier. Immediately, the waitress came and YELLED at us to put it away. A simple "Sorry that is not allowed" would have sufficed. When I asked if I could order she yelled "NO!!" and went to another table. Then, when I complained to the manager and started to describe what happened, she immediately took her rude waitress's side without bothering to let me finish. i told the waitress that it wouldn't kill her to be nice to customers, she nodded and they both gave me rude and condescending looks. While I realize service is not Germany's forte, this was really something out of the ordinary. Not sure why the owner of this place hires extremely rude, barely English speaking people for their restaurant in the middle of Alexanderplatz. This waitress would be better off in a more local neighborhood restaurant with local people, perhaps she would be nicer to them. Being rude to tourists, your customers, at your place of work is not an effective way to "fight the system". Never coming here again read more
