The prices are what you would expect from Clarks but there is no beating them for good quality childrens school shoes. There are good sale prices at the end of their ranges and the staff are very helpful and friendly. One word of warning, don't go upstairs to buy childrens shoes the week before they go back to school!

This now seems to be because the manager is paranoid about the risk of shoplifting. However they must lose a lot of sales precisely because there is no changing room. They say that you can try at home and return goods if they don't fit but you have to return within a week, which is sometimes difficult if you are working or live out of town. This is not a policy in all St Luke's shops - indeed most, if not all of their other shops let you try things on before you buy. I mentioned this to the manager of the Saltash shop and she became quite verbally aggressive towards me. A very arrogant woman whose attitude must deter a lot of people from ever returning there again, which is a pity because this charity needs and deserves all the support it can get.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is pleasant and the store is well lit, clean and tidy. It is worth having a good look around whenever your around as stock changes quite quickly and prices are reasonable. I have found several nice bits here, particularly videos and games for the children and books for myself! Access in and around the store is ok but a bit more difficult with prams or children.

They also sell homeware in this store and have some really lovely things, quite similar to what you would find in Next etc. but at much more competitive prices. There are plenty of changing rooms here so you never really have to queue for too long and the rooms are clean and spacious. I don't live in Newton Abbot but whenever i am nearby i try to pop in here as i much prefer it to the Matalan in my hometown.

Not cheap, but it's all for charity so wha the heck. One of the things I quite like about this shop is how it has a photocopier in it, which is a good way of making money as it's in a central student area. They have womens clothing, childrenswear, and homewares on the first floor and menswear on the second floor. They have escalators on entering as well as lifts in the Homeware section at the back of the store. It is very spacious, I never have any problems with getting around with a pram and everything is displayed really well. So many things catch your eye looking around. The homewares is my favourite part, they stock furniture, lightwear, dinnersets, pictures through to bedding and towels. The whole floor is divided up into sections so you can see clearly where you need to go. The staff are very friendly and helpful and will order items in for you or to be delivered to your home for a charge. Clothing especially can be quite expensive, but all items are very good quality and you do get what you pay for. Every christmas / new year they do hold a half price sale which is great for picking up bargains. The sale does get extremely busy though. Overall though on a normal day as the Next store is so spacious it rarely if ever feels packed and there are always plenty of tills to pay at making it a good shopping experience.

The boots were good at around £100 for real leather, but the pajama bottoms were £36! We didn't end up buying a lot of the items we liked because of the pricing. Most of their winter clothing is acrylic, so absolutely no need for the price.
