Now you don't have to worry about your bouquet dripping all over you because these flowers are neatly packaged with no extra effort needed on your behalf. I've received praise and compliments from boyfriends' mothers, for example, when turning up with one of these boxes (and occasionally a bottle of wine to sweeten the deal), and it always softens the blow of meeting the parents for the first time - especially if the mother then scolds the boyfriend for never bringing her flowers! Yeah, that relationship didn't last very long.... Anyway, back to the flowers. As you can see from the pictures, not just flowers but small trees and bushes. And if you don't want to splash out on a flower box (around £15) you can opt for picking out a few singular stems and have them wrapped up all lovely like!

I consider Florettes a great back up more than a first choice florist, especially for special occassions as their bunches and bouquets generally lack class and, in my experience the flowers do not last long, which is disappointing considering the price.

having been at home following treatment for a serious illness, I have been the fortunate recipient…read moreof a large number of beautiful floral arrangements from a variety of local and internet-based florists. this morning I was unfortunate to receive a bouquet of flowers from my work colleagues through this local florist. the standard was exceptionally low. each and every individual flower was beyond its prime. 25% of which were fit for nothing but the bin. The remainder will join them very shortly. The most distressing aspect is that friends and colleagues have contributed to what they would naturally consider to be an appropriately fitting gift. How disappointed, embarassed and annoyed they would be to see the fruit of their kindness.....

The reason, I think, is twofold. One - inevitably there is someone I don't want to see browsing the aisles in here, someone I went to school with and can't be bothered to try and make interested small talk with ("oh, so you graduated and now you're just looking for a job but there don't really seem to be any around") The second and infinitely less anti-social of the reasons is that it always feels a bit cluttered in here - like there are a lot of cards bearing down on you. It sounds ridiculous but when it comes to picking out greeting cards I would probably have less choice, if there is too much I will panic and pick out a condolence card for a three year-olds birthday or something. This is of course an issue entirely of my own making and thus should be ignored - Derbyshire's really is the ideal place to get a card for any and every occasion. They also offer watch repairs (although a friend of mine who can barely tell the time himself once got a job doing this so I might have to query just how good this service can be). Oh and tea towels with Formby sights and scenery on them, which are make very nice presents.

That section serves as a slice of nostalgia, harking back to a simpler time in my youth when I would visit the now departed Delahunty's, the true king of children's toys and bikes. However, whenever I go in there with the intention of actually buying something, I mainly use it to buy cards, of which there is an extensive collection. It is also handy when approaching an occasion such as Valentine's Day if you have no idea what to get your better half, offering a selection of chocolates and teddies if you are desperate enough. The watch repair counter is useful, but having barely owned a watch let alone a faulty one, I have not had the pleasure of using such a service.

My experiences with buying flowers usually involve a quick dash to a local supermarket the day before Mother's Day in a frantic attempt to get a decent bouquet for under a fiver that still says 'I Love You, Mum'. With that in mind, I headed to Alison's with a determination to try and find a decent bunch of flowers for a special occasion. The selection of flowers and arrangements on offer at Alison's is both extensive and impressive and even though I'm pretty clueless when it comes to flowers, what I can say is that they all looked very bright and colourful, which is basically my only way to judge a good bunch of flowers (ooh, look at all the lovely colours). The staff at Alison's were friendly and very helpful, meaning even someone as oblivious as me was able to pick a nice bouquet with their help. The prices of their flowers did seem quite expensive, but then again I'm used to coming home with change from a tenner when I usually buy them, so I guess you're paying for quality with anything you buy here.

Lovely selection of flowers and low prices, and arrangements in store which were stunning. The business was recommended to me as a wedding florist by several of my friends, and they didn't disappoint, Pauline & Andrea were amazing throughout!! I booked a wedding consultation initially with Pauline for my wedding flowers and to share some ideas, she made me feel so relaxed and definately took the stress out of the process, offering fantastic and well informed expert advice. I never once felt pressured, sadly the same could not be said for some of the other florists with whom I had consulted with. After finally agreeing on my flowers and various things, I was kept in touch with throughout the process which certainly helped ease the nerves and worry. The 'big day' arrived and my flowers were presented to me at the hotel and as promised, the venue was fully dressed - I never once had any concerns, and the flowers just were simply stunning so much so it brought me to tears; the fact I had so many comments about them during the day confirmed that I had made the right decision in going to Bromborough Flowers. The biggest surprise (or maybe it wasnt given what I had been told by friends who have been here before), was simply the price... I had to ask Pauline to recheck a couple of times as it was massively cheaper than the other florists who quoted me in the area. Fresh cut flowers and bouquets are sold here as well as a small selection of potted plants and a few little gifts. The shop is quite literally blooming, it's full to bust and smells divine. I suppose artificial flowers have their place, though--like in graveyards. They also sell a selection of potted plants including adorable little mini cactuses which I think make great gifts. :) I love the name of this shop--original, and appropriate. I also like the the bright blue exterior, which is in keeping with the name of the shop, draws the eye, and yet fits in nicely in the old-style shopping area of Ormskirk.
