Seared tuna with sweet potatoes, pickles, and greens
    Akemi W.

Everything in the Time Out market is a "best" in some way, so the fact that this place is run by a top Portuguese chef is not particularly remarkable. But I do think it's worth noting that you get this chef's food for very good prices: around 10-16 euro for most mains. I really like the way he puts his dishes together: the vegetables are an actual part of the meal, not just a garnish to make the meat look pretty. My first day in Lisbon I got the seared tuna with sweet potato, pickles, and greens. It was far more gourmet in both presentation and taste than I was expecting. The sweet, creamy potatoes were a perfect foil for the firm fish and crisp pickles. A little course salt on top was mouthwateringly delicious. It was so good, I came back the next day. The codbwith turnip greens and potatoes was not as rave-worthy, but still good. Cod is not my favorite fish, and turnips are not my favorite greens, but these still came together in a pleasing combo. I'd highly recommend a meal here. Or maybe two!

UM. Wow! This was my choice in the Mercado Ribeira (TimeOut Market) for lunch. It was a cozinha de chef booth. Ordering is counter service and then you get a buzzer and you find a seat. It was crowded on a Thursday for late lunch! My black risotto (squid ink) with mussels was AMAZING and then I tasted the vegetable soup of the day (made with items from the farmer's market next door), WOW. Seriously amazing and for less than $20 + a mineral water. Very very delicious You do have to find your own seat at the communal tables in the market but that just adds to the people watching.

This was by far, the most popular restaurant kiosk in the entire Market. I wasn't familiar with Alexandre Silva, but apparently he won Portugals' Top Chef and his main restaurant is the only one that has ever been awarded 6-stars by Time Out. Believe it or not, he was actually working there tonight! If you don't believe me, check out my photos!! Very impressive, as I assumed he would be at his main restaurant, but here he was, working at the Market tonight! We got the homemade bread, along with the Bacalhau (cod) served with roasted potatoes, and greens, which I believe were turnip greens. After noticing comments from a couple of fellow Yelpers sharing how overly salted they felt the entire dish was, including the vegetables, I proactively asked them no eliminate all salt, and they gladly accommodated. Nothing was overly salted, and the fish was moist and nicely prepared. The fingerling potatoes that accompanied the dish were well prepared, as were the greens. Hubby, though, commented on how the thick filet of cod should've been better deboned. Only about 15 Euros for an entree though, that could've easily come out of a high end restaurant. We enjoyed it, but I waited about an hour for this dish. They do provide those infamous buzzers so you don't need to stand and wait, but I just stood nearby, not realizing how long the entire process would eventually take. The Bacalhau entree was definitely good, but I don't think I'd wait in line for nearly an hour again for that, or anything else. The black ink risotto piqued my interest though, so maybe another time...

This eatery is located inside of the Time Out Market. I got the fish of the day along with a glass of wine. You order and are given a buzzer for when your food is ready you return to the counter for your meal. I throughly enjoyed my meal and my wine. Highly recommend this spot.

Pork belly.. on green pea base. So good!

The line was crazy even after 2100 when we wandered here. We ordered the pork belly with vege and green pea base. It was delicious! They have a pretty good selection of wine too. Seats were hard to come by so be prepared to wait! The pork belly though was totally worth the wait!

I tasted pork belly and cod. Both are very good. Wish I had more time in Lisbon to try other dishes because they all look good to me.

Pastries de Bacalhau - the crust was not brown enough. May be longer time. The stuffing was flavorful but it's more the cod taste than the flavored mash potatoes which I prefer. I actually prefer the other local restaurant I tried the night before better. Caldo Verde - The potatoe part of the soup is great. Perfect viscosity but the flavor is not. It wasn't salty enough but more importantly is the flavor of the veggies and the spicy sausage they supposed to use that makes the soup taste different. Grilled giant pawns - The flavor of the prawns is not as intense as expected and hope to be. The squid ink pasta also lacked of flavor. That's disappointing. With the prawns, they should at least use the prawn shell to make sauce for the pastas. The pasta was tasteless, didn't even use enough garlic and olive oil to flavor it up. Seafood rice - Another disappointment. They used fish, small mussels and little bit of shrimp pieces along with some bigger whole shrimps and mussels. However, the rice was lack of the true seafood flavor that made from shell fish. They also added cilantro which overwhelmed the whatever left of seafood flavor. The lemonade was not a sweet lemonade but sour. Fyi. It's not fair we just went to another restaurant in the neighborhood and everything was so much better but people should know.

The fact that my husband and I got there before anyone else came, allowed us to have the most amazing conversation with the staff that works there!! Faysal greeted us and was very welcoming! As we ate dinner, Bernardo who is a waiter there, told us the history of the building etc and since no one else was there, we talked about our families and that he going to be a veterinarian...and that he has something else coming up that is going to be exciting. All through our dinner we chatted with him (as if we were having dinner at his house) and enjoyed every minute of the conversation!! It was the best part of the evening! We even got to meet Miguel the chef, and were happy to tell him his food was amazing! I can't recommend this restaurant enough!!! They only charge 19.60 euro for all you can eat!!!! The restaurant was quaint and intimate , with a small buffet that easily fills you up. There were many options from a beef stew to a curry, a noodle dish with bacon, salad, and other options. I would definitely recommend this to all in Lisbon.
