As a parent, some of the things I like about CBA is that dancers get to start performing as young as 3 and the pricing structure is one of the best around. Out of curiosity, I frequently look around at other studios in the area and find CBA maintains some of the lowest prices. All performances are optional for the younger dancers, but this does mean that there will be additional time commitments as required rehearsals are outside regularly scheduled classes. My girls actually see this as a benefit as it means more time dancing.

She came back to her roots and has continued to do an exceptional job at making this studio feel like home and every dancer feel like family. Showcase has 100% become a part of my family's own legacy, where generations have continued to grow and learn technique that carried on throughout, as well as have a familiar place to reflect upon after 20+ years. I am grateful to say I was raised by such a strong team of dynamic teachers and always looked forward to rehearsals, wherever the studio may be. You can tell their amazing skills, and her dedication to dance and to the kids. THEY ACCEPT BABIES IN DIAPERS - Showcase start their dance classes for 18 month old babies. Yes! This was my first concern for my daughter because she was 3 when she started but no other studio would take her because she wasn't potty trained yet. (i did went to 3 other dance studios around the area and they rejected my daughter because she was still on diapers). In only a few weeks, we don't need diapers as she copied her classmates and learned to potty eventually. PROFESSIONALLY PLANNED RECITALS- These kids are no dance professionals but if you have been to a Showcase Studio recital, you will feel how professionally they have prepared the kids' dances and the whole show preparation and presentation looks amazing. Also, in spite all the great dance numbers, they also have a parent and child dance number (although I never tried it because I don't dance, I enjoy watching kids dance with their parents during recitals) ORGANIZED MEMORY ITEMS- yearbooks, dance pictorials, dance apparels with Showcase is such an important factor of why we love how they value each dancer and create memories as the kids grow. For most parents, this is so very important. CLEAN, CHILD-FRIENDLY and SIBLING-FRIENDLY STUDIO- Showcase now relocated to the new and bigger studio at 11252 Balls Ford Road. And you will be greeted by kind and accomodating faces like Ms Meg, Ms Michelle and Ms Tasha. We don't have issues waiting in the lobby with a 1 year old. They even have books to entertain the dancers' little siblings who are waiting. LEADERSHIP TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES- Showcase Studio dance teachers facilitate leadership trainings for the bigger kids to become assistant dance teachers and eventually become dance teachers themselves like my daughter's ballet teachers Ms Blair and Ms Jenni. Very impressive because of the opportunities for the kids to hone their talents and skills. They also acknowledge the dancers with school awards. This encourages the dancers to do well both in school and in dance. I can go on and on but this is becoming too long of a review. :)

The…read moreplay tells the story of Carole's life, with the first half devoted to her marriage, her entering the music business as a composer, and the string of amazing hits that you had absolutely no idea Carole had written but that will bring back great memories for any of you who grew up in the 60s and 70s, including, in no particular order: Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow (The Shirelles), One Fine Day (The Chiffons), You've Got a Friend (James Taylor), Up On the Roof (The Drifters), You Make Me Feel (Aretha!), Another Pleasant Valley Sunday (The Monkees), and The Loco-Motion (Little Eva) ... all of that (and more) before she started her own vocal career in earnest, culminating in the Tapestry album we all know and love. The play reminded me of Jersey Boys in how it told the story of Carole's life and the forces that shaped her music, but the story line is definitely secondary to the music, and it's worth going for the music alone. Abby Mueller knocks it out as Carole, and Liam Tobin (who plays her husband, Gerry) has a great voice as well, complementing Abby perfectly. The actors playing the musical team of Weil and Mann added a great extra dimension to the story, featuring some more classic period music, including On Broadway by the Drifters. Even though the Kennedy Center's a bit tough to get to (especially mid-week), make the effort to check out some great singing that will bring back some great memories - and you'll even get some dancing-at-your seat in during the encore number, with the entire audience on its feet! (No, I'm not telling which song - go find out for yourselves!)

I've always had good experiences at the Kennedy Center! I have been here many times over the years…read morefor various shows and the venue has never disappointed me. How can it with the spectacular view right by the water. The theater really is a magnificent piece of architecture. The grand ceilings are a sight to see. The last time I went was to see the The Book of Mormon. What a fantastic show! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would recommend anyone who like the tv show South Park to see that show. Others I've seen there that I can recall are Lion King the musical and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The center definitely keeps a wide variety of shows coming around. Also for anyone metroing there, there is a red shuttle that can pick you up at from the closest metro stop straight to the theater. How convenient! I will say that I wish the prices for snacks and drinks were a bit less. Two drinks can easily be $20 depending on what you get. Hopefully they will reconsider their prices someday. But overall I always love coming here for a day out and a great show!

My husband and I found out about the Friday Morning Music Club just by looking up free music events…read morein the city. I think normally their concerts are in the middle of the day, but tonight was the last event of the season and it was held in the evening at the Dumbarton House in Georgetown. What a concert! This was classical chamber music. Professionals and amateurs who love music and like to share their love with an audience. They were really top notch with bios of credentials to make you gasp that you were getting the privilege to hear them for free in such a small, personal venue rather than a large concert hall. I wish I had saved the program so I could give them their due credit by posting their names and the pieces that were played. Anyway, keep your ears open for these concerts as they are worth your time if you are a classical music buff or just want to experience something beautiful. (If you are new to classical music, just hold your applause until you see other people clap... sometimes there are several movements within a musical piece or "selection" and the applause is held until the very end.) I hope you get the pleasure of experiencing a concert!
