The decor is just what you'd expect - lots of hieroglyphics and busts of gods and goddess and pharaohs and such. When you come in, you sit in the lounge area to order drinks then order food, and then they take your drinks upstairs and lead you to a proper table. That really confused me, but I've got it down for next time. It is owned by Egyptian people, and the servers can always recommend something if you don't know what to try! The portions are pretty large, so we skipped appetizers. I got the Egyptian Fatta and my friend got the Moussaka. The Fatta is described as "Pieces of roasted lamb meat and toasted Egyptian bread absorbed in lamb soup, covered with Egyptian rice & topped with a garlic tomato sauce," but I perceived it as mainly rice with chunks of tender lamb meat, and loads of caramelized onions on top (yum). The toasted bread absorbed in lamb soup bit, I didn't pick up on at all. Nor was the garlic tomato sauce a very strong flavor component. Overall the dish was mild, but tasty, and not massively different from what you get at other Middle Eastern restaurants. The caramelized onions were the best part, but the dish overall didn't leave a huge impression on me. I tried my friend's moussaka and found it overwhelmingly cheesy. I don't really like aubergine generally though I didn't mind it in this dish - the meat and potato and sauce were all very tasty, but the cheese on top was really just too much for me and I found that disappointing. Otherwise it would be a very pleasant version of moussaka. It was very heavy food! The rice served alongside was fragrant and fluffy. Afterwards we went downstairs and shared some apple-flavored shisha, £10 a pipe. I'd never done it before and enjoyed the taste, though it made me quite light-headed. But the front lounge is a very pleasant place to be, you can recline on pillows, smoke shisha and drink delicious fresh mint tea, and relax without feeling rushed after dinner. The atmosphere down there is great. I'd return again to try some other dishes, but my overall impressions were that the food was just all right, but it didn't live up to my expectations. And it was just so heavy! The menu does have some unique offerings though, so I'll give it another try and hope for better next time.

Turned it's belly dancing night. Service was quick and efficient, accurate and helpful. Food was good, and quickly served well. Waitress was helpful. We were a bit surprised that the waitress was quick to take our plates away, but it worked in our favour as we were going on elsewhere. Good food for the price, efficient, warm atmosphere.

The Groupon was for the Greek Mezze dinner, which requires a minimum of 2 diners. For £18 per person (we had it 50% off from Groupon!), you get a big platter of appetizers and a big platter of entrees, though the entrees are small, mezze-size. So you get to try lots of different things. Hard to remember what we had, but i think the appetizers were tzatziki, hummus, a broad bean dip, fried halloumi, vine leaves, spicy sausage, meatballs, and Greek salad. We got some garlic bread first, then pitta to eat with the rest of the dishes. Phew! Lots of food already! The hummus was really excellent - it was thick and garlicky and addictive. Different than I've had at other places, and delicious. The halloumi was great too. Vine leaves were the usual, I don't remember being particularly wowed by the meatballs and sausage, though they were fine, not my favorite part of the platter. The Greek salad had nice crunch fresh vegetables, olives, and tangy feta, so I really enjoyed that. We were getting full already! Then came the main plates - hard to remember it all! Greek pasta (yum!!), lamb (tender, amazing), chicken kebabs (gorgeous charred flavor, absolutely delicious), and some other things that clearly weren't as memorable as the other 3! I do remember chips that came on the side were hot, crispy, and basically perfect. The mains were better than the appetizers, in my opinion (except for the hummus). The meat was so well cooked, the flavors were just right, and we were very satisfied! The thing is, it's pretty pricey at £18 per person (without a Groupon). Though you will get very full, no doubt you'd get full too if you ordered a la carte and got one entree each and an appetizer to share for maybe £10 less. Since dessert and drinks aren't included in the mezze deal, I don't really think it's financially worth it. I'd certainly come back, but I'd order a la carte. Service was very friendly, our server was lovely and warm. You can't really see the dining room for the street, since it's below street level, but it's actually very nice with lots of Greek-looking decor, blue and white everywhere, sort of a beachy feel. Don't judge it by the plain exterior, give it a try! I'm sure we'll be back.
