Not the place you'd expect to find in Puerto Rico, but who cares? The food is great here. I had the bubaganoush, red lentil soup, and the moussaka. All tasted great and its obvious they know what they are doing. The service was attentive, everything was timely, and overall just a great time. Great place, located in a tourist area. Loved the outdoor seating area and had fantastic service. The food was really good and my picky 8 yo even liked it. We enjoyed the hummus and tabouli as starters and that lavash bread! The greek salad is large enough for 2-3 to share and it was really fresh and light. Shared a chicken kebab with my child, hubby had iskender kebab which he really liked. It could have been shared, too. Enjoyed their sangria and baklava, too. Food is so fresh, service is stellar. We ordered five appetizers as a meal: falafel, imam bayildi, dolma, and kasarli pide. We were on vacation in PR and have had some great Puerto Rican food. I will say this was a refreshing light meal in contrast to the local cuisine. I'm middle eastern and have eaten a lot of middle eastern food in my life. Tucked away from the street is home to this gem of a place. Instantly you are greeted by several of the employees and we were sat right away at a little table in the corner. I absolutely loved the lights hanging from the ceiling. Our waiter offered recommendations and informed us of their specialties (lamb). We enjoyed an argentine Malbec and ordered hummus and tzatziki for an appetizer. We were told that we could do half and half of each so we could try several different ones. Hands down the best tzatziki I've ever eaten. I ordered the "mix" ottoman casserole (without mushrooms).Which was a mix of lamb and chicken. Don't let the word casserole fool you, It was more like a stir fry served with rice. I wasn't overly hungry but I finished every last bite, it was that good. We split the baklava for a delectable sweet ending to an incredible meal. This place deserves 10 stars. read more

One of the best places we ate at in PR. The bread was similar to what I've had in Istanbul...very authentic. Everything was freshly prepared to perfection. Highly recommend if you are in the area. We ordered the bread stuffed with feta and spinach which was amazing. I got the chicken shish kabob and my husband had the beef. Both were good but I preferred the chicken. We came here for dinner after seeing the 4.5 star average. I am a little confused as to how they have maintained that. There were a lot of issues, especially with the service. The service was slow, and very forgetful. Our server forgot the Greek Salad, and nearly forgot the 3 orders of chicken shish kebabs. For waiting very long, the food was average. The chicken was flavored, but didn't have that much taste. I don't think that we will be coming back again. read more

This was probably our favorite restaurant during our visit to Puerto Rico. It is in a little "alley" to the left of the Starbucks on Ashford (across from the Marriott). Small place, we didn't have to wait, but a wait wouldn't surprise me. The wait staff are dressed like Aladdin and are very attentive. We started with the hummus. Great choice. It is served with a huge, fresh loaf of pita bread right out of the oven. Very unique to any hummus I've had before. I had the moussaka and my partner had the lamb kebab. Both were delicious and well prepared. The food came out pretty quickly as well. Note that the promised accompaniments with each dish (potatos, salad, etc) are puny and not worth the mention. So you might order something heart or get an extra side salad with your meal if your'e extra hungry. Highly recommend you check this place out during your visit in Condado. read more

A little disappointing because all I really wanted was a wrap, but they apparently stop serving those after two hours. I'm cool with kabobs and love all Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food, but I didn't feel it measured up to the hype. Likely it being a touristy location caused them to jack up the prices because in many places I could get the same meal and quality for half and get a larger portion. Nonetheless, the food is good and a nice date spot. I thought the lamb kabob was excellent and service was friendly and good. No major complaints but I guess maybe as a foodie chump, I was a bit disappointed. read more

We ate here again a few weeks ago and the experience is always fun. Their space was a bit smaller than the previous year probably because of the slowdown in tourism but the food was excellent. Many favorite middle eastern foods that our party of six raved about for days to come. We'll be back on our next visit. read more

Great place for lamb and Mediterranean food lovers alike! We were looking for a decent place in PR to enjoy a meal on our 3rd anniversary...we found it!! Dont let the depressing furniture and layout frighten you away (why i gave 4 stars and not 5). This place's food is spot on! We were greeted immediately and order taken quickly even with a restaurant 2/3 full, which is shocking for Puerto Rico. The owner/manager himself brought out our food (Lamb Doner and Lamb Ishkinder). Both great dishes and we couldn't decided which one was better. We topped off our quick meal with a sharing portion of baklava which was a bit tiny, so you may not want to share but it was delicious. I love mediterranean cuisine and am always trying these types of restaurants in Puerto Rico and when travelling. Basically I am adicted to this. Without a doubt, this is one of THE best restaurant in middle eastern category and one of the top 10 in Puerto Rico in any category. And mi wife agrees with me and she is a tough on to convince. I know the chef and owner since he first opened Istanbul in Old San Juan and the food was amazing even under the worst working conditions a chef or cook could experience. The kitchen was a hot, tiny hell hole. He left that place and opened Ali Baba in a better space and what he's staff is doing there is FRAKING ORGASMIC. Every dish is just full of flavor, delicately balanced. I am not Turkish, but I'm pretty sure that if I where Turkish, I would cry tears of homesickness after eating here. JUST GO! read more

I went here with a friend. We walked in and were seated right away. The service was pretty good, they weren't constantly hovering or disappearing and everything came out in a timely fashion. My water glass was always filled. Food was pretty decent. We had this bread and seasoned ground beef dish (i cannot remember the name) for starters and I really enjoyed it. Next for our course, I had the lamb gyro and my friend had the chicken curry. His dish was great! I tried it and the chicken was well seasoned, not too overpowering, and moist. As for my lamb gyro, I would definitely not order again. Lamb was over cooked and dried. I tasted mostly the slaw that it was topped with and burnt BBQ meat, on a pita that was nothing to write home about. Like I said, I would not order again. Overall it was a decent place. Only cons were my dish, and for the prices, I personally don't think it was worth it. I probably would hesitate on recommending it to a friend. read more

Had dinner at Ali Baba last night. Arrived about 7:00 and only a few people were there. Authentic and fun interior design as well as the waitstaff uniforms. Very, very attentive service. Yes. You must have the lavash bread. Warm out of the oven served on a wooden plate. Hummus was deliciously creamy with just the right amount of spice. Bright green, I am guessing first cold press, olive oil was wonderful as well. I had the vegetarian mousaka. Large portion with all kinds on vegetables and beans topped with cheese served on a cast iron griddle. Nice and garlicky. A full plate of sides with cabbage salad, potatoes and rice pilaf. My husband had the mixed grill which he enjoyed. He was not so much a fan of the pork but he ate it all. Then the best baklava I have ever had, warmed and topped with ice cream. There was a lighting issue when they all end off suddenly. I was in the middle of dessert so it didn't bother me. I continued to eat my dessert. They were very apologetic to everyone. It was back on in a few minutes. Not a problem for us. The restaurant was full when we left will. Will definitely go back. read more

This was a spot that was right across from our hotel, the San Juan Marriott. Tucked away behind Starbucks. Cozy and delightful, the decor and music takes you back to Turkey in an instant. My son ordered the Beef Shish Kabob that was prepared so well and the meat so tender, that I cut a piece with my fork! I ordered my all-time Turkish favorite, the Eskander Kabob.
