In the meantime, anyone can explore this cool shop on PB Rd. While there are several aisles of dried goods, cans, jars and wines... I really liked the deli cases where shop workers offered up cheeses, cured meats, olives, etc. There's also a self-serve salad bar. This shop makes me realize I need to travel more in Spain. As for the rest, they have everything a good deli should have; a glass counter stuffed with meats and cheeses and fresh pasta, shelves laden with everything you could ever need to make an Italian style feast and friendly, if slightly stern staff. I am not particularly foody and as evidenced by my explanation of why I was in the deli in the first place, I really have no business around fine foods. This might be why the man who works (probably owns) Gallo Nero doesnt seem to like me though he froths all over my Nigella Lawson of a sister though and I often wait outside like a petualnt child as they discuss the best kind of pesto to go with noodles, or pasta or whatever. They have so many brands, wide aisles and well displayed items. They have a great variety of healthy snack alternatives and gluten free options, which I need. They also have lots of different peanut butters to choose from which is fab. The fresh food options are good too. Just like in the US, there are lots of hot dishes and cold meal options to choose from in the self-serve area. Healthy options and some favourites, like mac & cheese and even cod bites! Highly recommend and not everything is as expensive as I expected so it's definitely worth checking their sales. Their soups are great too!

So upon entering the store, I was immediately expecting the classic 'deli snobbery' experience. You know when you go to an authentic Deli where the staff give you the cold stare if you take too lon to order or don't know exactly what you want. Much to my surprise, I was welcomed in a very warm manner. I asked for a selection of meats, and seriously thought this would be the point where they'd start snapping, but nope, again the lovely lady offered a range of sample slices for me to try! Woohoo! I love the '& Son' on the sign - gives the place a sense of continuity and history The sight of all those hams hanging up as you enter the store is enough to set the cookery brain and the stomach going. There is then the main counter with Italian cheeses galore and some deli items and home made pasta. There is also the full range of tinned and dried goods. The dry pasta from here is better than the fresh stuff from supermarkets. In Italy, they believe the pasta is the star of the dish and the sauce is just there to coat it, not drown it but for that philosophy to work, you need high quality ingredients I left with some pancetta, ham and mini mozzarellas
