UNPROFESSIONAL. UNETHICAL. SCAMMER .I NEVER SIGNED ANY PAPER WORK TO RETAIN HICKS. Let's just start there. I was going through a initial crisis with my children and court day was coming fast. My friend passed me along her cell phone number. Where are we spoke about my situation and she told me a lot about herself . MISS HICKS TOLD ME WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR SHE WAS VERY NICE AND SOUNDED LIKE SHE WANTED TO HELP ME FIGHT FOR MY KIDS. I was forthcoming about not having 7k to retain. I flat out said I could not move forward. She insisted she could help since I'm a friend of brandy. She told me to cash app her 2000 so she could get ahead of this and help me on the 19th of July . she assured me that her paralegal will be back in town Monday and could get all the paperwork drawn up. MONDAY comes and the paralegal does not know what's going on. SHES SADLY UNEDUCATED ON ANYTHING A PARALEGAL SHOULD KNOW HOW TO DO AND RUDE. PRINTER IS BROKEN too. Miss Hicks is not in office. Due to a "family emergency." Her paralegal books, my appointment for THURSDAY where I wait around for hours. Her paralegal tells me that we will need to reschedule. That's when Miss Hicks walks in the door. She proceeds to tell me all of her business of what she has going on, in a very unprofessional manner. She says it's really hard when you're a breadwinner, you're only options in men are convict drug dealers who can stay home with your kids all day or a 22-year-old who has no career. She then goes on about how her boyfriend or a husband (unsure) has taken her kids and he is somewhere on the south side because she has her child's iPad location. She tells me we don't have time to go over the paperwork because she needs to go file paperwork down at the courthouse in regards to her drama .  Says she will need to do a continuance , that we will reschedule for tomorrow that I will not be charged for waiting around or for that day ...rushes out . Now I'm feeling very anxious and I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to convey this to her in our next meeting. I see that she has a lot going on and she may not be the best attorney for me at the moment. FRIDAY COMES And she reschedules AGAIN to Monday. In this message, she says if I cannot make this appointment, please let her know. Or I will be charged $300. now I'm very uneasy, so I go ahead and tell the paralegal very nicely (what I wanted to say in person) that I will possibly be using them in the future but right now is not a good time. If I could have back the money I sent since no paperwork was drawn up or signed to retain her as a lawyer due to the circumstances. SHE REPLIES NO REFUNDS. This is clarified a few times that this is coming from Miss Hicks. IM IN DISBELIEF. I asked for a itemized invoice to wear my $2000 went . NOTHING . IM NOW BLOCKED. BEING IGNORED. When looking her up online, I only looked at the good reviews. I did not bother to click on the one stars because she had so many reviews. Now I'm wondering if they are even real. Mine is just worse, (MAKES ZERO because no paperwork was even signed to retain her or legally bind a contract. I hired Mrs Hicks to get joint custody of my granddaughter and put her on my husbands tricare insurance. Only thing I really required was for paperwork to be accepted by military. Paid $3,500 retainer. Three months later I received a draft that was all messed up and had all my grandkids on it. Also I found out I was only credited $1,200 of $3,500 I paid. After having to prove I paid all $3,500 I asked for it to only be my granddaughter. And hoping she did research to make sure military accepted paperwork. Well after asking for corrections I never received another copy. But trusted them. Finally got paperwork end of May just to go to deers office and get rejected because paperwork wasn't properly done. So now I have court order stating I have to carry insurance on granddaughter without being able to enroll her. I have sent a couple of messages and even called with no response in 3 weeks. I couldn't imagine going on a full on custody battle with this lawyer. I have done custody battles, thankfully not with this lawyer. I feel cheated, didn't even get what I asked for. I just wanted it acceptable by military. Please save your money. This wasn't a difficult case. All parties agreed. No. Just no. She took my money for a simple uncontested adoption and continued to charge me for what, I still have no idea. She messed up the name change. Went for months with no contact. I would get excuses from her team that she was going through a divorce, had a death in the family, etc. After 1000's of dollars and 4 years later, when I complained online about her complete disregard for my case, she dropped me. ***WARNING TO FATHERS*** This attorney will steal your money! I just finished submitting a Grievance with the Texas Bar Association against Alison Hicks. I expect they will likely dismiss my filing as they did the first time I filed a grievance against my ex-wife's Attorney Judith K Wheemert.There is no doubt in my mind that these two attorneys worked against me in my case. Alison Hicks has sabotaged my ability to seek out a fair outcome by hiring another Lawyer. How? Well, she just flat out stole my Retainer money! The San Antonio Family Court system is pledged with ruthless attorneys and judges who work together to screw over single divorced fathers and innocent children. We are supposed to look to our courts to seek relief, yet the system that should be upholding the Law end up breaking the law themselves. And the worst part is....They keep getting away with it. The history of my case is littered with violations of the most basic civil rights and civil liberties as an American is supposed to have. I'm ashamed that our system allows this sort of thing to continue and I will continue to voice my horrific experience in the Family Court System. On October 12th, 2016 my ex-wife's attorney Judith K Wheemert filed a motion to modify a parenting plan I had put in place for my child's in Washington State. This was a highly detailed plan which took 1.5 years of my life and cost me and my family over $50,000 to put in place before I had to move to San Antonio so I could remain a part of my child's life. Due to the financial circumstances, I found myself in at that time, I had no choice but to represent myself pro-se during the initial stages of this case. After attempting to represent myself in court, I realized that I would continue to receive the same level of injustice if I continued on my own. I paid Alison Hicks $3,750 to keep on retainer to help me in my case. After that, she refused to return one single phone despite many many attempts. She ended up negotiating things with the opposing counsel on my case that she never spoke with me about. She sent me a bill claiming she used all my money on my case but really did absolutely nothing and just straight up took all that money! I had a horrible experience with this woman. I paid in full for her to represent me with my case and when I first paid and met with her I was so sure she was the right attorney. THAT was NOT the case she never returned calls or emails. When I did finally see her she appeared to haven't had slept. She honestly looked to be under the influence of drugs.
