If you're reading this review in time to catch the Robert Mapplethorpe: A Season in Hell (http://londonist.com/2009/10/patti_smith_opens_mapplethorpe_exhi.php) exhibition at Alison Jacques (it runs until 21 November), you're in luck! It's phenomenal. Even after the two decades that have passed since the death of this legendary photographer - his images still represent some of the most beautiful, provocative and freshest photography out there. As for the gallery itself, Alison Jacques Gallery is an excellent space for viewing art. Good lighting and high ceilings make an ideal setting and the Berners Street location across from the Sanderson Hotel means easy access to Oxford Street, Goodge Street and Tottenham Court Road. read more
