I lived at this property for four years I could tell almost immediately that there were issues. I was in a one bedroom one bath on the third floor, within the first few months, There were spiders all over the unit all over the exterior just everywhere I was constantly being bit. I asked Management to spray but because these are considered friendly spiders or something silly, they would not be spraying or maintaining the common areas. A few years later I up moved directly next-door to a corner unit on the third floor 2x1. This unit was completely redone, It was very nice however, I knew the neighbors prior, and when I had gone into the unit, there was black mold all over the bedrooms. There have been multiple addicts come in & out of these apartments. The last one I encountered lived underneath me on the first floor, unfortunately, he had passed away due to his circumstances he was discovered about a month later according to the ME. I did ask the property management immediately if the hazmat team would be coming to clean, I was told no it was due to the scene not being released, I called both ME & Police I found that it was released that night. The family had to be contacted to remove whatever valuables in the apartment, I believe there was a team who removed carpet and the couch, but they are not the ones who cleaned the whole contaminated unit. Management uses the maintenance guys to do that. The apartment was gutted and materials laid underneath my window for nearly 2 weeks, The smell was horrendous, We were given absolutely no accommodations or suggestions. I moved almost exactly 12 days later while not the only reason I've moved it was a huge factor. The elevator consistently goes out. There's never a timeframe repairs, the pests, the different types of people who come in and out of those units. There was also a guy who was a voyeur, borderline offender, he may have even been convicted. every time tenants complained to Management about these type of people, we were told we just need to continue to call the police it just felt like there was no responsibility on management to vet or remove, the drift draft it made our home feel very unsafe, this isn't just my opinion I've had many neighbors that share the same sentiment most who have since moved out. Outside of these experiences, with Property Management, the area is beautiful, going to the beach year-round is indescribable. It is extremely close the water, and shops, a lot of which have changed over the years but it is beautiful the one thing I also want to mention is coming from the bay area and moving to a suburban neighborhood I experienced more shootings, more violence, the absolute chaos around 4th of July that lasts months. I did stay to myself for the most part, so I was never related to any of this. The entire experience wasn't terrible or unbearable, but the accumulation of those few BAD experiences I've had were enough to make anybody leave. When I did leave I had been told many times prior that they do not do rental references if complain and hold people accountable, they DO rental references. Unfortunately, admittedly I did hit hard times due to the pandemic but always communicated and rent always got paid yet. They still ended up doing a negative rental reference even though "they don't do them", which is unfortunate that there's no consistency. Vashti was amazing unfortunately she's no longer there, I won't disclose the names of the others but they start with "L". Ultimately if These properties were under different management, I would move back because the price is decent for seattle and you get a beach, look out for Charlie In maintenance he's an absolute peach he was always soo kind and friendly.also a tall guy who does landscaping he's got a beautiful soul and personality I always love seeing him with his headphones and huge smile. read more

We lived on site for a couple of years before becoming home owners. They were always super attentive but laid back. I had some issues to resolve which needed rental records years later. They were able to get back to me that same day. It really had a positive impact in my dealings the way they were able to turn over records on the same day. Walked into their office on Alki ave and was surprised how rude the gal was. I asked about a certain address where some apartments were. She said very fast "Those are all unavailable now" or something to that effect. Cold Stop. Nothing more. I'm not going to say what happened next. I asked a couple more questions and she was short and rude, and obviously had no intention of being nice to me or offer me any suggestions or just anything! I can't imagine how rude they are to their tenants if they treat someone walking off the street this way. I just got a super bad vibe. read more

I have been renting with Alki Property Mgmt since 2011. The office staff, Vashti and Lynn have been great. Vashti has been wonderful always and ready to help. Lynn has even called me to see if I needed anything especially when I had to have hip surgery. Vashti is always ready to help in every situation. Polite and efficient. I noticed the posts about the attitude issue and they're not wrong. When I was there it was Kelly and Lynn. Lynn was actually super nice, I almost felt bad like she knew she had to compensate for Kelly cause she was the literal worst. She lived in my building and left threats on my door, and also on friends cars. Each unit gets a nice long parking space, double-long or long enough for 2 vehicles. 6 units, 6 spots. When I moved in I didn't have a car yet and she'd leave notes threatening to tow friends who parked in my spot because if *I* didn't have a car it "wasn't my spot." First of all, the spot is included. There was no mention of not being able to use the spot without owning a vehicle and there was no additional fee for the spot. Also there were no pets allowed in the building but she'd keep her cat perched by the window like a dbag. She's not with them anymore thankgawd but it's unfortunate they still can't seem to fill all the positions with pleasant people. As for the apartment I lived in, the cheap price for the two bedroom makes sense once you're actually living in it. The building I was in was older so I understood the condition of it for the most part. The main annoyance was the thin walls and hearing everything. I could hear everything my neighbors did and vice versa. I worked nights and came home after midnight which bugged the crap out of my neighbors, after awhile I'd come home and feel like I can't move or make single sound. Maintenance wasn't the easiest to deal with. There was one time they replaced all the toilets in the building and installed only mine wrong. That loud running water in the tank after you flush, it wouldn't stop, it was literally 24/7 so I notified them/put in an order to get it fixed. I later was sent a bill for the excessive water use for several hundred dollars, and when I confronted them about it they said I should have mentioned it, which I did... ???? They tried to find excuses not to pay it and I certainly wasn't going to so I had to look up the laws in Washington State about landlord and maintenance negligence to get them to eat it. I've lived at two Alki Property apartments, wonderful place, really great people. The buildings are a little bit older, but staff has always done a great job of coming out to try and fix things. They even installed new insulated glass doors for us this year, just before winter. It is the office staff though, Vashti and Lynn in particular, that I feel like really got me a shot at living in such a great location, and has been nothing but professional and kind since. I'm confused by other other reviews on the rudeness of the property management company. Vashti and Lynn both have been nothing but helpful and kind to me. The buildings are older but great locations, I believe the company owns 27 buildings . I lived in a brand new building in the junction before and my rent was 300 dollars more a month and way smaller. The washer and dryer and blinds need replacing but all things considered I really like where I live. They worked with me on getting into the building with a larger deposit when my credit wasn't in great shape. I've lived here for 7 months. Do know know the move out process. The leases with this company are only 6 months long so if you need a flexible situation it's a good option. Alki Beach has been a blessing during quarentine and I'm so glad I live here. I would give them 5 stars but the old blinds and the half working washing machine are a bummer. read more

I viewed a couple of these apartments. The gal that showed me the apartments was really nice until I told her I wanted to think about the place and not sign a lease on the spot. After that she was fairly rude and unhelpful. She actually told me that she wouldn't show me any further apartments unless I was sure I would sign a lease. I can only imagine how they treat thier actual tenants if this is the way they treat prospective tenants. The apartments are clean and have a good amont of space. Older appliances in units. Not sure if it's because her communication skills are seriously lacking, or she's truly ignorant of the subject or she's an asshole-- although I'm inclined to go with the latter. Some of the other reviews address Vashti's rudeness. I'll let those reviews speak for themselves, I don't disagree with them at all, but I'll try and focus on the actual apartments. We are two techies who wanted to live outside of Seattle city center. Many of the buildings managed by Alki Prop. mgt. are being redone one apt at a time, don't be fooled. The buildings themselves are defective, in that the floors and walls lack any insulation, as a result you can hear everything! We can hear our downstairs neighbor burp and our upstairs neighbor walk around when he gets ready for work at 5am. If you sign a lease, you are going to experience the same thing. The only way to get around this is to snag a top floor apt, you will still hear your downstairs neighbors though. We were told we could move to a top floor apt once the apt was renovated. When the apt was complete we were told by Vashti another tenant actually asked about the apt before us, I guess we have to take her at her word but as you can see from the other reviews customer service isn't her strong suite. Why would she tell us we could move to the top floor, if she knew someone else was ahead of us on the list??? read more

I've been renting with Alki Property Mgmt since 2016 and the experience has been great. Vashti is always polite and very attentive with the needs of tenants. If there's ever a problem in your unit, they will send over maintenance as soon as possible to resolve your issues. Units are reasonably priced and definitely a steal for what they're worth! read more

I have lived in 20+ residences in 6 states and I think this is the most solid prop management company I have ever rented from. We rented the top floor of the duplex at 5914 SW Stevens St Pros 1. Security deposit was half the rent and minus the (stated up front carpet cleaning fee) the whole thing was returned. 2. They promptly, and I mean the next day or the day after fixed anything that went wrong with the place. It was an older joint so a lot did. Broken dryer, garbage disposal, etc. They could have remodeled the place but then I wouldn't have been able to afford the rent. Instead they fixed everything and FAST. Their service guys Rick and especially Jesse were on it! 3. The let us put as many nail holes in the walls as we needed to hang all our shelves and art. No issues later. Super cool about that. 4. 6 month lease and month to month after. Hmmm... could be a negative if they ran the rents through the roof like the rest of the neighborhood but they only raised the rent $50 in the nearly 2 years we were there while some of my neighbors got raised from $1400 to $1800 in that timeframe! Cons Couldn't think of a single one. Alki Prop we love your style. Keep on keeping Seattle cool. read more

I've been dealing with this management company for five months and I have no complaints! I needed to find a place ASAP and they really worked with my less than perfect credit to get me my little apartment. The property I live in is quiet, clean, and well maintained. The one time I needed help fixing something, the crew came over to help the next day. The appliances are a little older, but work well. I have a young daughter, and the area of Alki I'm in is really kid friendly. Whenever I go to drop off my rent or ask a question, the girls are always very professional and knowledgeable, and very sweet to my daughter. I have recommended this company to several friends, and would look to this company first if I ever think of upgrading to a larger apartment. read more

Don't expect to get any help from the people who run this place. I got bedbugs in my apartment that came from inside the walls of their building and they refused to believe me. They pretty much told me I must be crazy and that since they sent in a dog that "can sniff out bed bugs" and it didn't smell any that there must not be any bed bugs! Needless to say, the multiple huge bites all over my body told a different story. I moved out before my lease was over (and they did allow me to break my lease without penalty) but they never admitted that there was anything they should have done to fix the problem. I also found out that my neighbors had a state agent come in to their apartment because of the same problem and they were told there was a large infestation in the walls. They were also unable to get any real help from the management company. At least on move-out day I found one (dead) beg bug to prove that I was, in fact, not crazy! Since I moved out I haven't had a single bite. I would never rent from this management company again. read more

Had a very negative experience with Kelly from Alki Property Management. In our phone conversations to attempt to set up a time to view a property, she was very adamant that my husband and I BOTH needed to be there if we were interested in the property, as she would not do a second showing. This is a struggle for us due to his last-minute work schedule and I'm sure I'm not the only person with similar issues as far as scheduling. Long story short, when I went to view the property today, my husband could not make it due to illness. I didn't even have time to call Kelly to let her know he was ill as it happened rather suddenly, so I showed up to the appointment alone. As soon as I told her he couldn't make it, she rolled her eyes and told me she thought she made it "very clear" during our phone conversations that BOTH people needed to be there as she would not do a 2nd showing. She rushed through the property tour and basically blew me off. All in all, not a great experience. I understand the importance of having everyone who might potentially be on the lease there to view the property, but that is often not feasible due to differing work schedules and life getting in the way. Even if the property had been nice, I wouldn't have wanted to sign a lease considering how rudely I was treated. read more

I'd heard some odd things about this company during my recent apartment search but, in need of a short term rental while selling my home, thought I'd give them a try anyway since the apartments they manage are leased on a 6-month basis. I'm selling my house empty so that prospective buyers will get a real feel for it as "their" home rather than as mine, so am not living in it and decided to rent my temporary residence by the beach for the fun & laid-back atmosphere (aka, away from the home-selling stress). I checked out this company's properties online, recognized most of the buildings since I go to Alki Beach a lot, and was really interested. Now, when a person calls a business on the phone, that person's first impression of the company is going to based upon the way they're treated by the representative who answers the phone. When I called here yesterday (5-1-2012), the girl I talked to was just flat-out bizarre. Her voice itself was friendly-sounding, but the things she said with it were amazingly condescending. I told her I was looking for a short term rental and had seen their listings online. I asked her at what price their least expensive rentals started and asked if they had any studios. She said, "You say you saw our listings online, but if you really had you'd have seen we list only what's available in bold red lettering." It was such a weird thing to hear & came at me so fast that I thought I'd surely heard wrong. I said I hadn't seen any red lettering and then she started laughing and said, "Well, all we have is a 2-bedroom for $1395." I said that was more space than I needed and she said they'd probably have some 1-bedrooms opening up & that some were $800 and others $950. She said if I gave her my phone # she could call when something opened up. I was still interested since, although she was weird, it wasn't like she was going to be living with me or anything, so I said I'd be interested in a 1-bedroom if one opened up soon and gave her my #. She took it & then said, "Well I need to know what you can afford. Give me the top price you can pay." I figured she already knew I could afford either one of the 1-bedrooms, since she'd told me their prices and I'd replied that she could let me know if any became available. While I was thinking about what to say next, trying not to let her increasing rudeness ruin my fun in looking for a place by the beach, she next blurted out, "Oh come ON! Be honest! Can you afford it or not?!" and started laughing again. I started to wonder if she also worked as a bill collector or perhaps had been raised by a used-car salesman. After I got off the phone with her I talked to my realtor about it and he wasn't surprised when I told him the name of the company. This morning he found me a sweet little house to rent just a few blocks from the beach which another client of his is selling furnished & vacant. So it all worked out great, and I called the places I'd left my phone # with to let them know they didn't need to call me back about rentals. I almost didn't call Alki Property Mgmt. back, for obvious reasons, but then thought well, that strange girl has my phone # and I don't want her calling me up. She answered again today & I introduced myself by saying, "I spoke to you yesterday about the 1-bedroom apartments -- " and she interrupted impatiently and said that they still didn't have any. For Pete's sake, is there no limit? I told her I wasn't calling because I wanted to rent one, I was calling because I'd found a place and was letting her know not to call me back. She sarcastically replied, "Well THAT was fast." What the... ??? I remember what it was like 20 years ago before I was a homeowner and dealt with people like this idiot girl who would treat tenants any which way they chose. I hadn't thought about it in a very long time until this experience. I wonder what it is that makes some of these people so nasty towards folks who are simply looking for a place to live? What if I were someone just barely scraping by who was looking for a decent apartment and got laughed at because I asked about the least expensive unit they had? In my case it isn't because I don't have the money to afford it, it's because I don't need a big space to live in on a temporary basis & there's no need to throw good money away. But I now remember very well what it was like to be at the mercy of nasty landlords and so, unless you like being treated like an imbecile, stay away from Alki Property Management. If that girl is allowed to speak to prospective clients the way she does, imagine what the OWNERS must be like. You can probably find them up on Lake City Way hawking those used cars I mentioned earlier. read more

They serve up random properties around West Seattle at relatively reasonable rates. Most of them are fairly old (built in the 60s/70s)... but seem to be nice for the most part. Management has a "mom-n-pop" feel, but I doubt it's actually owned by those running it. Some amount of latency in getting things fixed, but that's kind of to be expected with any apartment complex. read more
