I spent a couple hours with my mom touring the Queluz National Palace and worked up an appetite. Thankfully, my mom and I saw this place as we were leaving and hoped it was open for business.
From the outside, it looks like your typical small, cramped Portuguese restaurant but it's actually quite large and modern inside. The woman working at the bar provided us with menus to look at before we agreed to sit down.
Once we knew what we wanted, we were seated at a table in the back area amongst other customers. The chairs were comfortable and the tables had enough space for everything.
Service was excellent. In Portugal, waiters and waitresses let you eat your meal in peace. They aren't constantly checking up on you and only come back when they're sure you've finished your food.
I ordered the vegetarian burger and it blew.me.away. The bread was from the Alentejo region and reminded me of a softer, thicker English muffin. Cheddar cheese and caramelized onions with an aioli sauce smothered on the veggie patty. The patty tasted like an Impossible burger. It was absolutely delicious. Fries were crispy and salted just right. I couldn't have asked for more!
We opted to skip dessert as I was in the mood for something they didn't offer on the dessert menu.
I'm keeping this restaurant in my notes for the next time I visit Queluz! 1000% recommend to friends and family. read more
