To Love A Canine Rescue - Adopted my dog here, I'm so happy and in love!

So happy I was able to adopt my English Cream Golden Retriever from To Love A Canine. I am apart of…read morethis program that trains rescue dogs to become service dogs and was thankfully able to get my wonderful dog for free as a military veteran. The adoption process was easy since I'll be going through the program and they found me a dog that is everything and more than what I wanted and expected in a doggie. She is so relaxed, calm and very lovable. She loves attention and needs it constantly which is what I want. I can't wait to get her trained so she can help me in the home on days where I can't get out of bed because of my back and difficulty doing so. I am so thankful for the team at this rescue for making the adoption experience easy and fast. After they found me a dog that would match my preferences, they emailed me a picture of Navi ( her new name is Navidad, since we bought her before Christmas. We met Navi the next week, and I basically got to bring home my new furry daughter the same day. I was able to meet the foster family who had her to ask questions about her and to find out her favorite treats, food she eats and to get any other information I wanted. Brought Navi home and she bonded quickly with me and my daughter. She dragged me up the steps and somehow knew where we lived. It's like she knew she was home. It's been almost 2 months now since she's been adopted and it has been the best experience of my life. My dog changed me in so many ways, and for her being my first dog I am so happy I got her. Her temperament and personality matches ours and we love her so much. If I decide in the future to get another dog I would adopt from To Love A Canine Rescue again.

My family has adopted 5 pets from the SPCA, 3 cats and 2 dogs, starting in the fall of 2019. Our…read morefirst pet was a cat that was, at the time, the longest tenured cat in the facility. She was brought in as a feral stray and the staff worked with her to be socialized. With some love, she has become a wonderful pet. Our second pet was a 1 year old dog in 2021. Then a kitten in 2022, another dog (for my daughter who was a senior in college at the time) in Jan 2024, and another cat in May 2024. Each of these animals had different histories, and with some love and affection at home, they have become wonderful pets. Our last cat had a respiratory illness when we adopted him. This was fully disclosed to us at the time, and they provided meds which cleared him up. We got full vet checks and medical histories for all, and the kitten we adopted in 2022 was able to come back to the SPCA to be neutered when he was old enough.

Then give me my F$$$ing money back!! This place needs to be shut down and Completely revamped with real Vets!! NON PROFIT my Behind they rob poor people!!!! The CEO of the SPCA hides out in his big office taking all the donations and the shelter and the animal clinic have nothing ! I would like to see how the CEO lives I bet his pets go to Top of the Line Animal Clinics!!! Just like Children's Hospital and all the other NON profit organizations in this crappy state, they all hide behind the NON-Profit label and the top dogs are all millionaire's and feed the people they are suppose to help a bunch of dirt crap. The crappy Governor of PA knows this and they all wash each others hands in Gold Bars at the poor persons expense!!!!

When you walk into the BVSPCA there's a wall with the names and dates of the animals who have been…read morethere the longest. Why then would they rush animals through - who were brought in as strays and had names attached to their microchip? It'svery interesting to me that a non profit who prides themselves on being "good guys" is worried primarily with image. Their CEO Adam Lamb makes over 400,000 a year and Mike Kaviani their COO makes over 100,000. My indoor outdoor cat was taken there and adopted out. The details of which are unnecessary as my legal standing is moot. I will never see my cat again. An animal I adopted and had for seven years. I'm writing this review to inform people of three things... first, is that if you adopt there is a chance your animal could be sick - there's no way they did necessary tests in the amount of time they had my cat. Second, there's a chance an owner could come forward and claim your pet. Third - I wrote a review before ... and was contacted by Mike Kaviani personally. During that call he asked me to remove my reviews. Which I obliged. I've noticed the goal, was and will continue to be damage control but I'd like to directly speak to Mike in this review and say that since it takes negative reviews to get your attention... maybe you will change your policies. I honestly believe that at the very least I can use this opportunity to save someone else from the heartbreak my four children are experiencing.

I had never fostered before, but I genuinely wanted to make a difference. I filled out the "Be a Foster" form online and was told someone would contact me--but I never received a call or any follow-up. I had participated in several shelter skip days with them, so one day I went in person and asked if I could do a skip day and overnight, with the hope of eventually fostering. I took home a dog named Wreck It Ralph overnight, which then turned into a foster situation. Unfortunately, I was given almost no direction or support. I wasn't provided bowls, a crate, paperwork, or guidance--just his medications and a small bag of food. Eventually, they texted me some paperwork. Because it was so difficult to reach anyone, I had to return in person several times just to get basic information or items that were needed . The coordinator repeatedly told me he had called me back, but I never once received a phone call--even after confirming he had the correct number. I ended up fostering Ralph for 42 days and got to know him very well. On two separate occasions, I sent detailed write-ups about his personality and behavior to help him get adopted. Even after speaking directly with the manager, Rebecca, I never received so much as a courtesy email acknowledging that my messages were received. The website was never updated with helpful foster-based information, and they chose not to use any of the updated photos I sent of Ralph after he gained some weight and his personality started shining through, continuing instead to use older skip day photos from before his foster. I see other foster dogs profiles written with updates from their foster parents, and updated photos of them in foster care. Why is my dog and experience so different? It's not even about me but making sure Ralph is set up for success and he's just not. This was incredibly disappointing, especially as my first foster experience. I was proud to give Ralph time to decompress, feel safe, and show his true personality outside of the shelter. Sadly, this organization made me feel completely undervalued, as if my experience and insight into the dog didn't matter at all. I know fosters are hard to find, which makes this even more disheartening. I would absolutely foster again--but I will be looking to another shelter. This one offered little support, lacked professionalism, and didn't even provide the basic courtesy of acknowledging feedback or communication.

I did receive a sympathy card as well! These People Really do Care! I went back again taking Callie's Baby- Spyder Monkey @ 15.7y.o. in Nov.2017. She had a wellness check up. got an injection to Lift her spirits! CC was /Monkey Mama,,, and Spydy is Mama Monkey! I must get in there to get her the same injection ASAP. She is now 16.25 and I am concerned w/her breathing, as she also suffers allergies. I Have been awaiting them to return my call as I went to a Vet, I was So Upset & Unhappy. They All want too much Money, It seems it is All about the Almighty-dollar! This Truly bothers me! I had a Great Dr. Ellis- near Franklin Mills, and sadly he retired! I Loved Him! It is difficult to see your cat age, but I still see a Strong Spirit in her, and I know that she will let me know, as Callie did, when it is her time. Not yet though! I just want a Clinic Visit and will bring paperwork from Nov. 2017. They are THE BEST! I have spread the Word to Many Pet lovers about them! I do Hope I can Get In, not that I told Too many people to go there! haha.... I hope to have her here a few more years, and If Not I most Likely will adopt again! I always Do! Had many cats, and they all lived Good Long Lives! I pray that My Spydy will hang out with me a little Longer! She is My Blessing! I had adopted Both CC & Spyder in Penns. which that shelter had closed. CC had 7 kitties, and leaped into My arms, well, she was a beauty, and I took her and the runt, a lil' grey kitty I named Spyder. Found out Callie gave birth in the Bathtub, and Spyder is a bathtub Lover! She has to be in there to clean up every morning too! The she comes out to Splash me Awake for her a.m. treats! Callie was aBeauty-Half Caramel Face, and other B&W, But Oh so Shiney! When she stood on her Hind legs she resembled a Penguin!! haha.... They were Both Indoors Only, and I'd Never have nails removed. Horrid!.... As yrs went by, Spydy Grew Taller and Longer than Mum! They'd fight etc.... my Callie Grew wider, more content, and lower to the floor! She was my watch cat! #LOVED her! Love her Monkey too! I had heard and read about Lamancha and was expecting a great experience there. It was at first…read morebut I soon discovered it was not a good experience. I feel that it was expected of me to adopt no matter what & fast. I was also treated like I was inept of walking a dog, telling me don't go here, don't go there, watch this, and that and was told twice about putting the walking rope ring on my wrist I am not a 2 yr old and I have had dogs I realize they have a job to do and are watching out fo the welfare of the dogs But such a big turn off and took the joy out of my day I walked away without a dog and I could see and feel a complete annoyance that I didn't adopt She was trying to make me feel guilty by telling me that the dogs i was interested in would be a good dog for me First of all she doesn't know me, 2nd she wasn't hardly around to see how it was going She showed no empathy at all when she seen how upset I was. If her and the other one showed more heart for potential adopters then maybe more dogs would get adopted there. She also told me how the adoptions were low and that people come and walk away without adopting Well change your attitude and maybe you will get more adoptions Don't guilt trip people with that I don't take adopting lightly, I want to be sure the pup is a good match for me and vice versa So their whole demeaner changed as soon as I decided not to adopt I guess i was taking too long to decide, well too bad And Jeff I heard your comment when i was having trouble with the rope leash(not really a leash) saying "she doesn't know how to put it on??" I figured it out without your help and I noticed your disgusted look at me! If things and circumstances there are making you feel unhappy there then maybe its time to quit and find something else to do with your time. I did talk to some really nice volunteers there This in no way a reflection on you! I am so disappointed about my experience there and how i felt about everything I have read all the good reviews and really wish that would have happened for me!!
