I have a very timid dog, they went the extra mile to make sure my baby was taken care of! The manager Drew recommended daycare to help give her confidence and boy did it make a huge difference! STAY AWAY!!! NOT A SAFE PLACE FOR YOUR ANIMALS. Animal Resorts does not value the life of the animals in their care. I boarded a reactive dog there and was explicit that he could not be with other dogs. Within the first two days, the owner, Drew, ignored this - not even a staff member, the owner! - and brought his dog into the same play space with the dog I boarded. He thought this would be ok bcse the dog I boarded was male and the owners was female and everyone knows that male and female dogs always get a long. What a reckless, terrible place. He did this not once, but twice. I wasn't notified until the second time and my dog was injured!!!! I got him out of there as fast as possible. Not only was my dog not safe there, but I also did not feel safe. The owner was aggressive, unapologetic, and increasing the creep factor one of the staff that I interacted with asked a lot of questions about the dog that I boarded and shared that he breeds pitbulls. What reputable dog care facility employs someone that breeds pitbulls in a state overrun by pitbulls being killed everyday. This is not a reputable boarding or care facility. I did not even bother trying to get reimbursed for my dog's vet bills. I was happy to have Animal Resorts in the rear view and all things considered, my dog was safe in my care. However, I was very sorry to hear that within 6 months another dog had died while in their care. This review is long overdue, but I have learned my lesson recently about not posting a review when it can help others. I hope all stay well away from Animal Resorts. read more

We've been taking our dog to Animal Resorts for a few years now, and have been happy with the services provided, but as of late the services provided are lackluster and seem very halfhearted. Our family paid for report cards for our dog, and in the past they were detailed and fun to read, but now they are boring and have one or two words written at most. Huge waste of money. Animal resorts also used to offer free exit baths, but now you have to pay for that as well. On the day of pickup we called twice and received no answer both times, but when they finally called back maybe 30 minutes before we were able to pick her up, they let us know our dog had bloody diarrhea earlier in the day, and when they tried to medicate her with dinner without asking for owner permission first, she threw up the meds. They said she was acting normal otherwise. When we finally got there to pick up our dog she was not acting normal, she seemed exhausted, covered in dirt, had discharge coming from her eyes, was walking stiffly, and still had diarrhea all over her paws. Even if exit baths are no longer free, does that mean you can just leave the dogs staying with you covered in dirt and feces? You couldn't just rinse her paws off at least? You couldn't call sooner to inform us of what was going on with her? Our family is wracked with guilt because while we went on vacation and relaxed, our beloved family dog was left to stand in her own fecal matter, likely for hours as they said she had the diarrhea earlier in the day. God knows what else she went through there that we weren't told about. Not sure what happened to Animal Resorts, maybe a change in management, but we can't in good conscience trust this business with our family member anymore. read more

If my dog could talk, she would definitely tell me, "I love this place, it's my #1 vacation spot!!" Animal Resorts is seated in a beautiful rural setting with big shade trees, plenty of running space, and newly added up to date facilities added this past summer/fall. This resort is clean, well managed, with an awesome staff who really do care about your animals. I feel confident leaving my goofy, adorable, well loved dog with the fine folks at Animal Resorts, Downingtown, Pa. I just started taking Donut here and he never wants to leave. He returns exhausted, sleeping through the night and most of the next morning. The staff is amazing, they send report cards for the meet & greet day, and I immediately felt a good vibe from dropping him off. I'm terrible at names but I hope the staff that I've met receive a bonus or raise (bonus: they don't charge an insane amount of money for every little thing like other "luxury" daycares). read more

STAY AWAY!!! Showed up with my Golden for our initial visit for daycare and was met by a rude, belligerent manager. He essentially accused me of lying re my having the necessary documents for my dog, and was much more interested in starting a fight with me than with trying to resolve the situation. How would he treat a dog that he was unhappy with? I would not want to find out. read more

our 2 dogs, one a standard poodle and one a French bulldog were 100% healthy when they were dropped off. the poodle was there for 9 days and the the frenchie for 7. The day they came home the frenchie had severe diarrhea and difficulty walking. we had him at the emergency vet 2 days in a row to have blood drawn, fluids, medications and neurological testing as the illness was very scary. our poodle was in pain and also had difficulty walking and diarrhea. this lasted for days! the poodle's vet prescribed an antibiotic. animal resorts asked for the medical notes and said that since they were healthy when they were there, they would do nothing for us. we spent a lot of money to kennel them, and $1000 dollars in medical bills! One last thing...our poodle must have barked excessively as her voice is still hoarse! Animal Resorts...very disappointing!! read more

We went to see my parents last week to share some good news, and we left our 2 year old Beagle at Animal Resorts. We were very impressed with the service, the kindness of the staff, and the cute pictures they sent at the end of the day with our Beagle's report card. We were very nervous to leave our doggy alone for the first time, but Animal Resorts quickly put our minds at ease with their dedication to caring for our Beagle. We will be using this company in the future, as their professionalism and level of care is outstanding. Highly recommend. read more

We have boarded our rabbits at Animal Resorts when our normal pet sitter is unavailable. The past two times we boarded them here the instructions we left for feeding and litter were not followed. The second time we made sure to explain clearly at drop-off but still had the same issue. I don't mind paying twice as much so that my pets receive good care, however for $45 per day for two rabbits I don't understand why it is so difficult to follow simple instructions. read more

Love this place! My dog has stayed here twice, and both times she loved it. Friendly staff, great location. Dogs seem really happy here! They do require a bit more documentation then most, but how is that not a good thing?! They want happy healthy animals on their property. read more

Stay away from Animal Resorts, 301 Jefferis Rd, Downingtown, PA 19335. In June 2014 we boarded our dog there for a week while we were on vacation. When we picked our dog up they said they gave her a free bath. We got her home and noticed one of her paws was bleeding on the bottom. I called and asked about it and they said they knew nothing about it. Gave Animal Resorts another chance and boarded our dog there 4-30-2015. Dropped her off on Thursday morning. All the sudden I received a very confusing email about vacations the following evening at 9:06 PM about our dog's bordetella vaccination being deficient. 1. Our dog had a current bordetella that was good from 8-2014 until 8-2015 2. When we had our dog at the vet on 4-27-2015 the vet suggested getting another bordetella short that day to save us money. 3. Our vet faxed all shot records to Animal Resorts on 4-27-2015. 4. I get an email from Alyssa the night after we drop our dog off falsely claiming our dog was deficient with bordetella vaccine. 5. Did anyone read the fax from the Vet on 4-27-2015? 6. If Animal Resorts lacks this much attention to detail with paperwork does the same thing happen when they care for people pets? We ended our trip early and pulled our dog out of there Saturday morning. My friend came with me who is a surgeon. When I spoke with Alyssa she told me that the new bordetella shot put the other dogs there at risk because it puts active bordetella in my dog even though my dog has a valid bordetella shot from 8-2015 good to 8-2015. Alyssa stated I did not wait 14 days and it is plastered everywhere on their website. Me and my friend are curious as to how Alyssa who is not a veterinarian knows how the bordetella vaccine works and what scientific proof Animal Resort has to make such statements. Here is what it states on the Animal Resorts website website: http://www.animalresorts.info/#!reservations/c2q4 "We require proof of the following vaccines upon arrival: Dogs: Rabies, DHLPP, and Bordetella Cats: Rabies, FVPC, and Feline Leukemia If your pet is not up to date on these vaccines, they must be given at least two weeks prior to your pet's stay. This is not negotiable." Nowhere does it state that if your Veterinarian (medical professional who attended years of higher education and passed boards). Our dog will not be returning. read more

We were on vacation out of state and received a call the first day that our dog had kennel cough. We initially thought this was strange (dog is fully vaccinated and was only there for 24 hours or less) as our dog showed zero signs of this prior to drop off. Regardles, we were accused of knowing this prior which we denied. We were asked to fly home and pick up our dog, which we explained is not an option. Then we were told we would be charged "double" if our dog was not removed. Almost as a threat. I discussed this issue with the owner and was told they had two bitches in heat and it was clear those dogs were more the priority then our own. Regardless of our suspicions, we made alternative arrangements and were lucky to find a friend to pick up our dog. Our friend advised us that there was no sign of cough at all after picking up our dog and as the dog was brought to the front counter was not being treated lovingly. Our dog never did have kennel cough. During one of our conversations about the kennel cough I was told "all our dog does is bark". To this day, we honestly feel like our dog was put aside because she was barking and was perceived as a problem. I would not recommend to anyone using this kennel. They clearly put their priorities ahead of their customers. Be warned!!! read more
