Seamless experience as far as I'm concerned. They cashed my OOS check without question. I was in and out in a flash. I am from LA and my bank (a local credit union) is not in these parts of the country, so I was screwed. I went to open another bank account, but I needed the money now and not in 7 days when the check cleared my new checking account. What a relief I found this place! And, they're open late (Til midnight). This place is clutch.

The employee insisted they needed to speak with my Mother, the person who wrote the check, for reasons they couldn't explain. She didn't pick up her phone. So, I suggested he called the bank directly. He did, and spent quite a while on the phone... but never actually spoke with anyone. Then, he asked his manager, and told me they refused to cash my check. I asked him why, several times, but he just shrugged his shoulders. Was it because it wasn't from a major bank chain? It is from Camden national Bank in Maine. I didn't even know it was legal for a check cashing store to refuse to cash a national bank check! I only had one other check to cash. But, to make matters worse, they wanted $34 to cash it! My jaw dropped, as I asked why, and he said they charge 5%. At this point, he'd wasted about an hour of my time... when he could have opened with this information and saved us both the trouble: we only cash checks from major bank chains and we charge 5%. How hard is that?!? I totally agree with all the one star reviews.

I really don't think he likes his job he does NOT follow protocol he argues with customers and just don't know when enough is enough. I am leaving this review bc I was not the customer he was helping I just happen to be in PLS at the time and witnessed his behavior. Not only was his attitude bad he had the nerve to have on a full face mask behind the counter, let's say I took my business to another location after what I experienced at the PLS on Tremont Street in Boston.

He couldn't trust my blind friend's signature. The owner treated him like a child who needed a parent to sign for him. He will be reported to the disability law center. I recommend no one goes to this place for check cashing.

Rates change constantly with no explanation even though you've cashed the exact type of check from the same company/person many times. Floors are littered with trash. Who ever owns/manages this location needs to tidy up the entire operation. Taking advantage of a poor customer base is disgusting. Hire more help who can speak proper English.
