On my most recent journey into All Media I got a refill of rubber cement which is used for many projects in our home as well as some nice presentation board for use in our wedding. I like to shop here for various project and art supplies instead of big box stores when possible because they offer such great items and awesome service. I defy you to enter this store and not be enticed by the many pens, pencils, markers and various sketch pads and notebooks that are just BEGGING to be drawn and written in! Plus they have a fantastic collection of magazines, a valuable resource for Kent State students in the arts programs. We're so lucky to have this art supply haven in our community. read more

I didn't get any photos because I felt weird taking photos in the store, but staff was very helpful, and they seemed to have a little bit of everything (watercolor, gouache, marker, paper, pencils, photography, clay). My painting class required specific paints, brushes and canvases. I did not feel confident ordering things online so I visited All Media for the first time in years. The same wonderful assistance was available. Unfortunately their stock was quite diminished and I learned that it could be 4-6 weeks before items are replenished. I was able to locate the paints I needed and appreciated the advice and counsel I got. Only one brush was available from my list and none of the canvases, so I purchased two 'substitutes' canvases to hold me over until I could receive an online order from another company. I was sorry I could not spend more of my money locally. Three stars due to lack of inventory. Next time I'll call in advance. read more

It's tough to find locally owned fine art stores these days, especially around the Cleveland area, which is overwhelmed by michaels, pat catan's, and one Blick's (which I have previously found to be very expensive). I love how this place has a nice selection of paints, inks, and papers and essential art supplies at a reasonable price. The gal at the counter was super helpful in packing the large sheets of stonehenge I needed, and for the record hey cut smaller sized paper free of charge. Additionally, there's a 10% student discount and free swedish fish for those who like them! It was worth the hike to Kent. read more

They have a great selection of materials and the owner manages the inventory really well, they don't run out of materials during the finals. The reason I am giving two stars is because some of the employees cannot or refuse to perform basic customer service skills. Only thing they do is to tell you the total, and they don't even say basic stuff like thank you, or have a good day. Again, not all of the staff is like this, it's maybe 1 or 2. Friendly and extremely helpful staff. Open daily, including weekends, so when you run out of something, guess who's open and probably has it! Stock tons of good papers and most everything else you may need. Centrally located in Kent, and open late too. Yeah, you can order stuff online for cheaper, but my experience is that you won't find exactly what you need (especially if you're a KSU art student; they know the classes and even the profs, so they know what is required, generally), probably have to buy more than you need, and in my case, may not know exactly what it is I am buying (for a class), so they'll tell you what certain paper is good for, not good for, etc. And if you need paper(s) cut to size, they do that right there. And students get a discount! Add in no shipping fees, and you just ain't getting a better deal online. All-Media rocks! read more

I was here with my friend who is in the vcd program today and the manager (I'm assuming, since he's always there) asked if we needed help finding anything. She stumbled and took a moment to reply and the man quickly snapped back "well if you don't need help then I'm going to go help some one else." Very rude. I'm not one to complain but that was just unprofessional and uncalled for. Very strange since he's always been a pretty nice guy. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. I've been searching for websites where I can write reviews on them, because they are WONDERFUL. I don't know where I would be without these guys. They're patient, friendly, informative, knowledgable, and quirky. The owner is awesome, and he probably already knows what you need before you even walk in there! SERIOUSLY AMAZING. The staff is rude and judgemental, and gave me dirty looks while I was in the store. The selection is mediocre at best, and everything there was overpriced. I wanted to get art supplies for sketching purposes and then they had the gall to suggest rose art colored pencils and low quality sketch paper. I'm a professional artist, this is my life. I've had to go the Kent State bookstore to get better prices, quality, and service. This is unacceptable and I cannot wait for it to go out of business. read more

Stepping into All Media in Kent Ohio is like going back in time to the good art supply stores of ten or twenty years ago. It is small, but well stocked. I didn't see Golden, Bloxx or Old Holland, but there are still plenty of other good quality paints and other art supplies crammed in there. I was happy to see an ample amount of sales help (instead of a depressed skeleton crew of one). The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, and someone would always check with me every fifteen minutes to make sure I was finding everything OK. Since the staff is exclusively artists, they've actually used the materials they sell and were able to answer my questions based on first hand experience. When I asked about specific pens on display, i didn't just get answers - I got samples to try for myself and more samples based on their suggestions. They have American made sketch books in sizes and formats that I haven't seen elsewhere often, or at all. Plenty of loose large sheets of paper. This is how a lot of art supply stores used to be, but they're being snuffed out across the country to make way for Pearl, Utrecht, Dick Blick and the large Craft stores. When I've asked about any good traditional art supply stores in Akron, I've been told to go to Pat Catan's. Don't let All Media go. You can get the deep discount at Michaels or Hobby Lobby, but they're limited. All Media can provide you with a better, fresher, informed perspective if you're really interested in the art materials available out there. Go and get the good opinion from an actual artist about the velvety smooth drawing pencil you never heard of until you walked in their front door. read more
