Came here with a big group (including kids) on the way to Tofino. Unfortunately it was a rushed meal, so didn't take any pics. But the meal really hit the spot. It was exactly what we were looking for during a quick stopover; super quick, convenient, friendly - counter service, nice outdoor seating and a bonus great ocean views. Most of us got taco's which were really tasty. We also shared the nacho's, some empanadas and I got the tortilla soup. We all really enjoyed everything, including the kids. Holy yes. This tiny little Mexican spot right on Port Alberni's harbourfront was such a treat. All bright colours and tile mosaics and stocked with many many hot sauce options (fun fact: they keep the really hot stuff for the die-hards behind the counter), this place just made me happy. We three popped in for a quick lunch on a Saturday afternoon and all left very satisfied. Sizable portions, super quick service, and so so tasty. Plus, they can make most things vegan and/or gluten free if you ask. I had the veggie enchiladas and am still fantasizing about them. My lunch pals had the fish tacos and one of the burritos (I think it was chicken) respectively. I think the burrito was less of a hit than the tacos and the enchiladas, but still good. Finally, a great Mexican food joint that far exceeded my expectations of what a Mexican restaurant should resemble, 2,000 miles away from the nearest Mexican city. Will definitely spread the word and frequent this amazing place... UPDATE; The first three times my wife and I went, AMAZING..!! The last three times, not so... it seems like a certain someone is not making the burritos anymore... bland meat, bland beans and the lack of their cilantro sauce that enhanced their flavor... B had a chicken burrito (chipotle sauce, beans) and he liked it .I had vegan tacos but sadly, they were NOT GOOD! They said it would be "grilled veggies, yams, refried beans, fresh pico de gallo" but what I got was a bunch of sweet potato chunks (or yams), a few paltry shreds of cabbage, and a side of oniony- not fresh tasting- salsa. I've mentioned before that I've never been to Mexico, so when it comes to judging Mexican food I can't vouch for its authenticity. However, this little business in a tiny concession at the end of a row of small stalls in Port Alberni's dockside market place is worth a visit if you're passing through. It is also right next to a small park with a playground so if you've got kids and you're on your way to the West Coast and Tofino, it's certainly worth the detour off the main highway. Their menu is short and simple - tacos, burritos or quesadillas with chicken, bison and other accompaniments - but the best thing is the fillings are all fresh and it's very reasonably priced. The salsa is freshly made on the premises and they do a mean cilantro dressing with their salads. They also do a couple of simple options like cheese-only quesadillas or cheese tacos for kids lacking a spirit of gastronomic adventure. We went their twice for lunch during our recent holiday. The first time we'd gone into town for the farmers' market but the second time we made a special side-trip when passing through. read more

it was pretty good, I have to admit.. but here's the thing, Cheese is so expensive in Canada that when they say the burrito/taco/nachos has cheese on it, it's just a speckle... nothing is CHEESY GOODNESS in Canada. That said, it was good, the ambiance was fun and festive, we had a nice table by the big, open garage door that gave us a water front view of the raging forest fire on the other side of the canal. BIG selection of hot sauces, that was nice.. Rice, beans and chips are all extra$. Order your own from the desk. Nothing fancy, but didn't expect that in Port Alberni, friendly and efficient.
