I wanted a TWO car carport, with gutters and downspouts. Gave the original amount, which was all materials and 60% labor. Too much to put down but I could not get anyone else to do the construction. Others came by, some ran away, most did not even bid on the job. Requested Omar get a permit from buncombe county and have the job done to code. He said ok and went right out and purchased the lumber and other materials to complete the job. He put these materials in the area where the carport would go, taking up one space of the two spaces where I had designated that the carport should go.
Then came the delays, he could not get the permit, the county would not give him a permit, it was always the county's fault or someone else's fault. Finally, after waiting 6 or 8 WEEKS, that's right, weeks, and after I called the county and asked them what the hold up was, he all of a sudden had the permit. 8 weeks. The entire time I had to listen to my neighbors telling me I had been ripped off, when will he ever do the work, etc... until I was pretty embarrassed. Finally, the work started, dug holes for footers, put up posts, 6, 6x6 posts which was way overkill to hold up a thin metal roof, but I did not say anything because Omar, the boss and who answered my request for construction, keep telling me he knew what he was doing.
As he dug the footers for the posts, I asked if the carport was wide enough, he said it was 19' and should be fine, it isn't, can't get two cars in there without having to come in at such an angle that it is impossible. He used 20 ft long boards that would have been great, but he cut off a foot of these boards, which was the extra foot I needed to make the carport fit two cars. But he kept telling me he knew what he was doing. HA Then the real reason I am writing this review. After the initial 6 month waiting period for the pressure treated posts to cure, he was supposed to come back, and clear stain or Thompson seal the posts and other pressure treated surfaces. He has not come back, will not return phone calls or texts, and seems to have dropped off the face of the earth. This dude overcharged, didn't perform and complete the job as directed or for what was contracted to do. Stay away from Omar, too bad cause his workers, especially his father, did good work, just wasn't planned correctly which was Omar's responsibility. Hey Omar, you owe me, cost of stain, paint brush and my labor, 200.00$ and that's getting off cheap. If I used your formula, it would be 600.00$ read more
