My hubby and I researched several businesses to give our exterior a makeover- like remove and replace our existing wood siding and other components with James Hardie fiber cement siding, Hardie and Azek trim, and new soffits, gutters, and leaders. We hired All Over Exterior Remodeling to install new Certainteed siding in our house. The team who did the work were very good. However we have an issue with some loose shingles. We have tried over a period if many weeks to have them come and do the repair. The siding was installed in fall 2020. We notified them of the issue spring 2021. They respond and say they will fix it...its just talk. This was months ago. No action on their part. Dont expect them to honor their warranty. read more

Like most of the reviews here, I had a positive experience three years ago with the installation of my roof in NJ. Julio was friendly, and seemed professional. Three years later, I have leaks on my ceilings. I have called Julio many, many times over a few months to repair my roof, and he has not returned any calls. This is very disappointing and surprising, as he seemed like such a responsible and caring person.I have a 10 year warranty that is useless. We had terrible problems with our roof due to a horrible roofer. We had to hire a second roofer to remediate the problem. This was very overwhelming since we were scarred by our last experience. I hired All Over Exterior to do a full roof replacement with designer slate-look shingles on a steeply pitched roof with new copper flashing and all new gutters. It seemed we had several small leaks in the roof, so we called All Over Exterior Remodeling to check it out. Julio came and inspected the roof and he showed us pictures of everything that was not right. And showed us examples of how a good roof should be done. Unfortunately there was no other way than full roof replacement. We decided to also get new gutters with leaf guard. Everything was going to be a 2-day job, and they started only a few days after we signed the contract. Once they stripped off the old roof they noticed on almost 40% of the roof rotten plywood. Again Julio and his team showed me all the damage on the roof, and we had not other choice but to have the plywood replaced. Plus we decided to get all new soffits to improve ventilation under the roof and to avoid future moisture build up and rotting plywood. In the end this made it a 5-day job. The team was great and kept us up to date on progress. They cleaned up during and after the job was done. And the new roof looks great. We had a few summer storms already with heavy rain, and the roof is holding up nicely. It was a good investment, and I would recommend All Over Exterior Remodeling to anyone. Description of work: We are planning to install solar panels and both solar companies we got estimates from approved our current 2-shingles-layered roof for a solar install. But, concerned that we are close to it's useful life (maybe 5 years left) and to avoid having to change roof after panels are installed we decided to get roof estimates. I didn't have much time as the idea of a new roof was a last minute thing just before solar installation, but Julio accommodated us and came by the same afternoon I called! ==== During Julio's visit for estimate: To help us rethink our solar install he shared couple of customer stories, how poorly installed solar panels had led to roof leaks. As there was snow on the roof he took measurements on the ground and later in detail explained the roofing solution. He patiently heard our concerns. He explained that he was a certified master elite contractor for GAF roofing systems which came with long warranty options on shingles (materials and labor included for 20, 30 & 50 years) These warranty options were non-vendor specific, meaning we can deal directly with GAF on any future roof irrespective if installer is still around or not. We like that idea. To be able to provide these super long "no questions asked" warranties Julio explained (and demonstrated on a video display) how, many layers of specific products needs to be installed, in a systematic fashion. In our case, as Solar panels were to be installed on the back roof he suggested a additional layer of ice/water shield for protection. But since this thicker synthetic shield lowers the breathability of the roof and increases the risk of trapped moisture in the attic, he recommended adding a ridge vent (i.e. cutout a slim section along the entire apex of the roof and capped with a breathable cover and shingles) and he also suggested removing the current three attic fans to help air exchange in attic work more efficiently. Later I was able to confirm his suggestions online! He send the estimate in couple of days and this was in line with other estimates I received from roofers in the Scotch Plains/Westfield area. The difference was Julio's thoroughness in addressing all our concerns and his focus on the quality of recommended materials and details of the tear-down and installation process. So for a change we weren't a slight bit disappointed in the selection of a vendor on a big project! BTW, he also proactively decided to call the regional manager for GAF, on a conference call seeking further product or install recommendation to prevent future leaks under solar panel shingles. ====== During the Install: Julio had a dumpster pre-delivered on the property and a skinnier crew show up a day early to remove all the gutter covers, measure and plan any sidings to be replaced and prep roof for install next day. Next day, his crew was very punctual, professional and well prepared. We only saw them rest once (during a lunch break) and we were getting exhausted just watching the pace of work (we are retired!) First thing crew did was put large tarps (around perimeter) and giant screens draped from roof to ground, around the house to catch and collect debris. Next, they started the tear down of two layers of old roof. They removed the attic fans, satellite dishes (which we no longer need) and replaced (at no charge) couple of of plywood roof deck sections which looked suspicious (moisture related weathering perhaps) They also prepped chimneys to install proper flashing as recommended by GAF in their warranty brochures. Tear down and prep was completed in the morning. After lunch they started installing the various roof layers. I never thought they would be able to finish our 3000 Square feet roof in one day! Julio has a very efficient crew and a good foreman (Anuar) on the job. They were very responsive to all our questions and pre-empted some of our minor concerns. Julio stopped by to supervise. But for rest of the day he was just a call away and responsive on couple of questions. They almost stayed till 7PM, cleaning up the property very thoroughly (Ex: being a windy day a crew member walked over to my neighbor's property to cleanup any accidentally blown away debris) They used a magnet thingy (size of a push broom on wheels) for a 20 minute walk around the perimeter and driveway to pick up any nails on the ground. Anuar returned the next day with couple of guys to install 2 sidings (missing since Sandy, i.e. much before this project started) for no charge! But once they started, I added on some additional work (decayed window frame and more damaged sidings) which Julio was kind enough to accommodate for a very reasonable cost. All in all an excellent experience, especially compared to our initial anxieties. We used Julio before for a roof repair from Hurricane Irene. We were so impressed, we knew we'd ask him back to do our roof when we redid the whole thing. We got quotes from a couple other roofers too. Julio and team weren't the cheapest, but they weren't the most expensive either. And we knew that we could trust him to show up on time, finish the work on time, and leave the place looking better than when he started, so we went with All Over Exterior. We were set to be out of town for a few days, but Julio knew the price of the materials would go up before we got back, so he arranged for us to purchase them all before we left, and had them delivered before we left as well, to save us a few pennies. True to form, Julio and team arrived exactly as they said, early in the morning. The roofing was done by about 4 p.m., including new gutters for the entire house, and clean up. A few things to speak on - We had an old plant hanger attached to the siding that was put there by the previous owners. It wasn't in great shape. The removal of the shingles caused it to come loose. Julio insisted on replacing it, and put in a much nicer one than was there before. Julio asked if I had a power washer. I did. His team ended up powerwashing the entire exterior of our house! He's just that kind of guy. He wants the place to look better than it did when he started. I don't think that's the norm by any means, but wow, was it nice of him. Julio had his team spray paint all the roof vents to match the new ones he put in. Totally unnecessary in terms of requirements for them to work, but it's important to the All Over Exterior team that everything match and look new. I have to admit, it looks fantastic. The roof looks fantastic. It's better than we ever hoped. Our utility bill has already gone down a few dollars, and the house seems much better ventilated. In preparing my home for sale, one of the most important improvements needed was a new roof. My old roof had two layers of shingles and was due to be upgraded. I contacted several roofers in the area for proposals. Julio of All Over Exterior was very professional in his presentation. The roof was measured with a program that records an aerial view of the roof while estimating the number of squares needed for reroofing. He fully explained all the necessary details that would be included in the job (ridge vent, ice & water shield, drip edge, etc.). All the materials were quality GAF products, as All Over Exterior is a Certified GAF installer. The materials were shipped as scheduled, and the work commenced the next day. The job was performed flawlessly and Julio supervised the work in accordance with the proposal we had agreed to. All Over utilized a trailer with rubber tires to cart away the old shingles and debris, which was a benefit to me as my driveway is asphalt on an incline and I did not want to chance tearing it up with a huge dumpster . The workers left my property spotless, without a clue that a roof job had just been done. In summary, Mr. Julio Checon runs a very straightforward roofing operation. He was very knowledgeable about the roofing process and translated the job well. His proposal was clear-cut and all inclusive. There were no hidden charges or surprises which 'popped-up' during the job. His workers performed their jobs without any problems and did an excellent job of cleaning up the site before they left.
