I am ok paying it, if I know what I'm paying for, but the information from the technician just wasn't adding up to the full charge. I reached out to Five Star to ask for an invoice. It came with a one line summary of the total cost of the work. I asked if they could please send an itemized invoice and explained the reasons I just mentioned above. After a bit of insisting, they forwarded my request to the manager. This was his response: ---- Hi Veronica My name is Garrett and I am reaching out to you regarding a sump pump we did for you on Sunday. I understand there was some confusion about the charges, I am here to help! So as far as a full breakdown goes, We pay around $350 -$400 for the sump pumps, and labor comes in right around $600. The remainder of the charge goes towards our 1 year workmanship warranty, administrative tasks such as tracking, scheduling and being a support system here for you if anything were to happen with it. We stand behind our work 100%. All of our pricing is flat rate, so breaking it down can be challenging in the sense of the charge does not change if we ended up taking longer to install the pump for you. We do it this way for the customer experience, as some plumbing companies do charge per half hour or hour, and can exploit the consumer by 'taking their time' so to speak to run up the bill. We always try to be transparent with our pricing, and just know that we are here to stand behind the workmanship and product we installed for you. The gentleman quoted me $1,695 in labor, as all the parts would be reused just refitted. I left work early, drove down there, disassembled, cleaned, and refitted them myself in 45 minutes. Duke came out inspected and turned the gas on. $1,695 for 45 minutes of work is disgraceful. You are taking advantage of people. I will be watching and reporting if you try to take my review down.

They got the scaffolding up fast and Dell had the fan down and light up in no time. Ryan added a new switch downstairs and explained how the new switch plates worked for upstairs and down. We put a little bucket under the drain and noticed a couple of days later there was water in it, so we called again and explained what the problem was and hadn't been fixed. Ken Cox came the second time and put some putty around it and replaced a washer. This was all covered by our 89 dollar service call. Every time they came they were pushing their service insurance, We had to call a third time because it was still leaking. Ken Cox came back and told us it was shot and needed $360 new pipe and once again the service insurance push. We haven't needed a plumber for years and Marty said "they fix it right the first time", but we still didn't buy the contract and paid full price because I don't think we will be using them again. They are nice, clean technicians but not sure about quality work. Not sure if we paid a second service call but can't tell by receipt and hate waiting for techs to keep coming back.
