I called All star electric for a potential warranty issue on an outlet. I had an outdoor camera that was not working. I received a text at 12:40 that Peter was on his way to my house. I have this time stamped on my phone. He arrived about 10 minutes later. After he arrived he started looking at the issue and stated he did not know why my camera wasn't working and wasn't sure about what was causing the problem. Turns out it wasn't the outlet. I popped out the battery on my camera and reinstalled it and it started working again. So I fixed the issue. He then started to talk about other things and he was standing at the door writing up my invoice. I looked at the clock and it was 12:30. It took him a few minutes to write the invoice up, which is funny because there are only a few sentences on the invoice. He billed me $210 for quantity of 1. I assume that means one hour. That is a lot for one hour, especially since he didn't fix anything. There is also a charge of $39 for a trip fee and a $14 admin fee. None of these charges were discussed with me ahead of time. He ended up charging me $263 for less than an hours work and he did not even fix the issue. I fixed it. I was also going to get an estimate of doing work at another place I own. We drove there and I asked Peter if he wanted to do the estimate or do a small repair first. He said he would do the repair first since he already started the clock on that job. He was not even out of the car yet and he is billing me. This annoyed me because he already over billed me at the first house. I told him to forget it and I would not have him do the repair or give me an estimate since he already over billed me on the first issue. We were walking away and in front of my tenant Peter proceeds to ask me about the value of my house and asked about the neighborhood. I was shocked he even knew the value of my house and I am not sure why that was relevant unless he was using it for his pricing and how much he would charge me. I certainly didn't appreciate him discussing the value of my house in front of my tenants. This was extremely inappropriate and irrelevant and I was surprised about the conversation. The entire interaction felt unprofessional and I don't feel like I got my moneys worth. I will never use this company again. read more

I had some LED lights flickering and dimming, all on the same circuit. Since it was the same circuit, I assumed that it was an electrical problem and contacted All Star Electric to come and diagnose the problem. After looking for a couple minutes, Peter found that the problem was a couple of the LED bulbs that were going bad and were affecting the rest of the circuit. Once removed, the problems disappeared. Needless to say, I felt pretty stupid having called an electrician to change a couple light bulbs. Peter understood that and did not charge for his services, even though I had agreed to a service charge before he came out. When I've called service companies like this in the past, I've often gotten the feeling that in some way or another they were taking me for granted or making me pay for something I didn't want or need. I did not feel that with All Star Electric - quite the opposite. I only ever felt that he was being completely honest. I will absolutely use this company for all my electrical needs going forward, and I'll definitely refer family and friends to them as well. read more

Positives: Professional and good work. Negative: Gave me a quote and at the end of the job it was around the quote price. But as I was writing the check he somehow tacked on $30 more bucks for labor or some other charge. I didn't argue but didn't find that very honorable and hate when businesses that can't give you a hardline price from the beginning somehow add surcharges or extra charges to milk the price. The sudden extra $30 gave him a three star review when otherwise I would of given him five stars. read more

If you are need of an electrical, call All Star Electric. We needed to have the 220 outlet activated at our daughter and son in law's new home. For some reason the previous owners had rerouted the dryer. We called Peter and explained our issue. We had a washer and dryer being delivered and had no power for it. I called All Star Electric to have them diagnose a power issue after my dishwasher burnt up. Peter came out and after not finding the issue, he called Mtn. View Electric Company. After Mt. View Electric came out, they informed me and Peter that it was the main underground wire that is bad. Peter didn't have the appropriate equipment to locate the break or repair the break if found but continued to use inappropriate equipment that wouldn't locate the break and charge me for his time walking my property trying to locate this break. He also charged me for his apprentice's time removing the front lower panel on my already burnt up dishwasher to check for hot wires when what he should have done was unplug the dishwasher from the outlet under the kitchen sink. He then charged me for unpinching a wire on this same disabled dishwasher. I now see that instead of depositing my check for the amount, he deposited it for 0.30 cents more, as my pen mark made it look like it was an 8, as in 0.80 instead of a 5, as in 0.50, but he knows what he charged me and should have made that right. Bad business and dishonest. I won't ever be using this company again. Lesson learned the hard way. read more

From initial contact and excellent communication with Rachel, we were able to get an appointment quickly to install coaxial cable from inside our recently finished basement to the outside (so we could connect to cable services) and to get our 4-prong dryer to adapt to an older 3-prong wall outlet. Not only did Peter and his apprentice do the jobs effectively and functionally, they made everything look beautiful! Was given a quote for $674 but was handed a bill for $979. We were told it was because he didn't come out and really look at the project and it was more than he realized. He says he's going to refund $200 but who is going to repair the sheet rock around the breaker box that they totally messed up. (I wish I could send a picture to show everyone.) I sent him a picture of the breaker box and never received any comment. Two people showed up before 8:00 am without even the courtesy of a call that they were coming. Then they sat in their car for two hours while they waited from someone else to come out. Then their vacuum didn't work so they couldn't clean up the mess in my office around the breaker box. We paid for a permit but the project wasn't inspected. This was very unprofessional and we won't be using them again! read more
