They said no problem and scheduled the work for Friday the 22nd of May . We were able to quickly do a review of my electrical panel via Facetime while discussing the pros and cons of different types of installations. They also represent Emporia Electric, a Littleton, CO based company that manufactures one of the best Level 2 EV chargers on the market. Once I accepted the quote, they scheduled the work right away. The charger that I wanted did not arrive in time, but that problem was quickly solved when the owner drove to Littleton and picked up the charger for us while their team did the wiring of the circuit. I contacted them for a quote on upgrading to a 200a panel replacing the original from 1982, and future proofing by preparing for a possible EV in the future. They were fast on the estimate, included everything with nothing "left out" for add-ons. They were able to schedule the work quickly, worked well with the city/inspectors, and completed the job on time. Sure, I had a few cheaper quotes (DE was right in the middle), but I was positive that some of those cheaper options may not have been as complete or all-inclusive in the pricing. read more

So Frustrating. We started out really liking this company. They did a great job adding some circuits and outlets to our garage. However this last project has made it so that I will not use them again. They were hired to install three ceiling fans and change out a number of light fixtures in our home. As we were out of town for a bit, we had our interior designer meet them for the quote and install. They took all day to install and I received a call that night that they were charging us a significant amount more than the quote because they had to "put the fans and light fixtures together". I have NEVER (and I have done ALOT of remodels in my day) had an electrician charge me more to put together a light fixture or ceiling fan. But I went ahead and paid the xtra charge. WELL.....now I know why it took them so long. We got home and found that they made a mess of the install. They removed a multi light switch and replaced it with a single switch (which didn't even match) while disconnecting all the rest of the things hooked to the multi switch. We now have lights that can't be turned on or off from that switch any longer. Then they just connected a fan to a light without giving it a separate switch, so that I can't turn the fan on unless the lights are all on. I now have to pay another company to fix this mess, after paying the previous company extra. Not sure what happened to this company between the first time we used them and this last time....but we will not be using them again. read more

All I can say is that I'm grateful they canceled on me 10 minutes before the appointment I'd waited on for 5 days that involved flood damage, no lighting in my living room and no working smoke detectors. Claimed when they canceled it was only for an estimate anyway and offered to do one on Facetime and the work could be scheduled next week. I had two other conversations with them that had implied the work would be performed same day and I obviously needed the work done ASAP. Luckily I found The Electric Way who fit me in the very next morning and completed all the work in an hour at a great value (hourly rates, so no need for extensive estimates). I called at 6:30pm on a Friday fully expecting to get voicemail, but someone actually answered. I asked if they would do an inspection of a DIY subpanel installation I'm planning on doing myself - just to make sure everything was done safely and to code. He said they would be happy to, but he pointed out that if I was already pulling a homeowners permit for the work, I could just rely on the Regional Building Department inspector's final signoff to ensure everything met code - a separate electrician's inspection wouldn't be necessary. "That way, you don't have to pay us a dime!", he said. The owner Bob was very responsive when I first reached out to set up an appointment, and he worked with me to get an upgraded hardwired 48a EV charger (EVSE) installed instead of just the NEMA 14-50 outlet that comes with the standard installation provided by Qmerit through my vehicle purchase. Bob got me scheduled within a week of calling. Today David arrived during the scheduled window, and was an absolute pleasure to work with. He did everything possible to make sure the EV charger was installed where I wanted it (holding it up on the wall to make sure I liked the placement before drilling into the wall), and carefully measuring (instead of just guesstimating) to make sure it was at the same height as a tool bracket nearby that I wanted it to line up with for aesthetic reasons. I've seen plenty of shoddy work from contractors over the years, so it's always a pleasure to find people like David who really take pride in their work and make sure to do things the way they would if it was their own home. So Thursday my house got hit with a really really nasty hail storm in Colorado Springs, it is now Monday and because of the weekend I didn't think I could get an electrician out. Great service and very reasonable prices. I got like 6 quotes to have my ceiling fans hung. A lot of companies quoted me 1000$+ to hang 5 ceiling fans (ceiling box already there). Dr Electric not only has a special for 79$, but they did it well and ensured the fans worked and didn't wobble before finishing up. For the task of replacing the existing 3 bathroom exhaust fans, I invited 3 estimates. I bought the units myself, and bids were for labor only. DR Electric bid was 3.5 times (!) higher than one bid, and 2.5 times (!) higher than another. Obviously, I did not choose DR Electric for the job, and cannot judge the quality of their work. I can judge their outrageous bid of ca. $1,050 (before a 10% seniors discount). I chose professionals whose bid was $300 (before 10% discount), and who did an excellent job. I appreciate the swift reply of DR Electric. However, the reply introduced ambiguity, which I wish to remove: No ducting work was needed. The owner of Dr.Electric came to my home to give me an estimate on a few jobs. I knew he was the owner because he told me so and complained about having to do this particular call because he was a "man down." So that made me feel awesome right off the bat as a potential customer. I needed a new heating element (which I'd already purchased) installed in my dryer; a light fixture replaced on my landing; have two bulbs replaced in the kitchen and potentially have ceiling fans installed in two bedrooms. He looked at the control panel and told my the dryer was operational (said dryer was literally 20 feet away; he could have just turned it on or believed me when I told him it was working); then went on to complain about the control panel and another situation in my garage that had absolutely nothing to do with the estimate. This gentleman was just overall miserable to be around, which made me really uncomfortable in my own home. He looked up at the kitchen panels in my kitchen (without even lifting them) and told me I needed a new ballast, took a quick look at the lighting fixture on the stairs/landing and then told me I'd get an estimate by the following afternoon. At that point I didn't bother asking about the ceiling fans because I was obviously an inconvenience; that's exactly how he made me feel. Four days later I get an estimate just to replace the light fixture on the stairs; $340. No mention of any of the other projects. I asked my son and my ex-husband for their objective opinions and both said the pricing was very steep, especially as I had the parts. Did the owner try to take advantage of me because I'm a woman? Who knows, but my dad was a sparky and I know how things should be. Extremely poor customer service; why was this guy at my house if he didn't even want the business? Wish I could give zero stars. Finally, I must say that the lady on the phone at the company who made the appointment couldn't have been nicer and was an absolute pleasure to do business with. So that's a positive. read more

I first called Dr. Electric after receiving a bid from another company that seemed really high. Tony was quick to respond and came out that very next day and quoted me the cost to add a new wire and breaker for in floor heating. I agreed and they actually just started the job immediately, they got done within a few hours and then came back to connect the breaker and line once the tile was installed over the new heated floor. Everything worked perfectly!!! Very professional, very polite, very respectful of your home (keep shoe covers on and vacuum up any mess!!) Tony and Haime are the best electricians I have worked with, ever!!!! Update: Had some other work done in the past couple months. With a days notice they came out and uninstalled my old cooktop appliance and then a couple weeks later, when the granite countertops were in they installed the new cooktop appliance.
