He was proactive about thinking ahead (advised me to get paint in advance, to match new clapboard he would paint after finishing the new roof), shared his knowledge (didn't just fix the problem but showed me the source: in my case, a rotted beam causing water to leak into the house), discussed various solutions (how the slope and location of the roofs on the main structure vs the bump-out prompted different considerations). He recommended a particular approach and materials (but was amenable to customer preferences) and discussed pros/cons (options for a rain diverter; shingles vs tar or whatever the other roofing surface was). He's licensed, insured and a hard worker who arrived on time, then worked steadily all through the day. When he was here the roofer identified a defect (degranulation) with the IKO roof shingles that were installed when the house was built back in 2001. I checked online and found that there is a pending class action case against the manufacturer that is slowly working its way through the federal courts. So I also had the roofer take off two defective shingle so that I can either file a warranty claim or join the class action case, if it comes together. In the end the charge for the work on my roof was very reasonable. I would be happy to use Abeles Roofing again.
