Not only is the All Star Lanes' bottomless craft beer brunch curated by Melissa Cole, award-winning beer writer and sommelier, but it amalgamates Americana brunch staples with a selection of craft beers. Each dish has been paired with a different beer to harmonise with its sweet or savoury notes, but diners are not restricted to this suggestion. Given that one of London's pet beers, Gamma Ray from Beavertown, was included in the package, it's probable that diners will only opt for this. But they're welcome to work their way through the drinks menu. Other drinks available in the offer include Steven's Point Amber Lager, Cerveza Pacifico Clara, Boulevard Brewery Single Wide IPA and a syrupy beer cocktail, the Brooklyn Breakfast. The dishes are on a pretty typical spectrum, including pancakes, salt beef hash and eggs and avocado on toast. We booked a table for a large group over a month in advance at the Westfield Stratford location, but we were advised on the day that there was no reservation under our name. After some confusion, staff pulled a cluster of tables together to accommodate us. We were placed adjacent to an overexcited group of children in the front of the restaurant, which wasn't ideal for a group of childless adults who were boozing. The atmosphere was fairly disordered towards the back of the venue, where the bowling take places, and diners have to snake through groups (again, primarily children) who are changing their shoes in the path of the washrooms. Our waiter was very accommodating and lively, making efforts to ensure that we were never without libation. The food was commendable as well- I had the chicken and waffles, which arrived in a shallow dish with a jug of maple syrup on the side. The fried chicken was on point with a crispy buttermilk shell and a moist centre, piled on several sections of fluffy golden waffle. I asked for the treacle-cured bacon on the side, and frankly didn't miss it- I pawned the two shrivelled slices on to my boyfriend. The chili butter didn't add anything for me either, but another diner professed to enjoy the subtle heat that it contributed to the dish. This was the most popular dish across the group, but the salt beef hash prompted equally positive reviews and looked great. The pancakes were reported to be slightly dry, but were still happily eaten. The bottomless craft beer option costs the price of a meal (approximately £10 per dish) and an additional £19 for the drinks package. It isn't a cheap brunch option, but bearing in mind that a single can of Gamma Ray is listed at £5 each in the menu, it proves good value if you have more than 4 rounds. The drinks option is valid for a period of two hours only, so there's plenty of time to work through 4 x 330ml cans. With the heartier plates worked in, that amount of drink won't go to your head and we didn't feel rushed to imbibe, but there's always intense pressure to get value from a bottomless package. I think we managed about 5 or 6 cans each across two hours. The environment is predictably frenzied and diners should expect a high proportion of children during the earlier brunching slots, but the package is available until 4pm. Be prepared to hail over waiters at any given opportunity to get another round, but they will happily oblige. The food is satisfying and I approve the concept of the beer brunch- I did try all of the drinks on offer and was happy to revert to Gamma Ray for most of the session. The Brooklyn Breakfast was much too sweet for my palate and I'd advise to stick to the beer. read more

I've been to the Brick Lane All Star Lanes before, my friend did a private hire of 3 bowling lanes with the karaoke and bar room and it was quite nice. Here however we were a part of the public. We did the Eat Drink Bowl for £29 offer, which is a great offer! You get 1 free game of bowling, 1 cocktail from a selected menu and dinner. What's not to like? The bowling alley is still quite new and so it was pleasant to bowl with. One exception is whilst we had 2 lanes, one lane had a bumper slightly sticking out meaning that when the ball hit the side instead of going into the gutter it bounced back and into the pins, so much cheating going on at the lane next to ours! Another thing I didn't like was that the scores at the end of the game were immediately wiped replaced by a big message saying that your game is over, speak to their staff. Really? You couldn't give me 30 seconds to snap a photo of the ending score? That was maddening. The nice thing though was I bought in food from outside knowing dinner is not for another hour, no staff complained we were eating external bought food nor did they complain about the rubbish and cleared it away nice and efficiently. When it came to going to our table to eat, we were sorely disappointed. We booked a table for our entire party of 9 people but the waitress said there were still people there and they had not left. I suggested that she gave me the menus first and we got our cocktails first. I felt so sorry for the barmaid. There was one barmaid and another barman but the barmaid was the only one qualified to do cocktails. 9 of us waited for our cocktails and she was also making cocktails for other diners and was clearly overworked and overwhelmed with orders. Nevertheless, she made some seriously good cocktails and I really wanted her own concoction (see photo of orange drink) as it looked amazing. It took us a whole hour standing around the bar to get our table, which was pretty unacceptable for such a big group. We were literally eating at around 10pm at night once we got our order. I was surprised they didn't just give us another table in the other area which was pretty empty, why did we have to sit next to the entrance? The food was decent, I like the hot dog (not the bread), southern fried chicken was not to my taste, too spicy and sorry, didn't like BBQ chicken wings either. The cheese croquettes were awful and no-one of my table wanted it. Burgers were ok. I wouldn't say food is the main draw here, I can go to TGI Fridays (literally next door) for better pretend US food, thanks! I did however like the sweet potato fries, hard to get that wrong really? Service was a bit haphazard, they feel understaffed in general and really need some improvement. Conclusion: Come here for a nice bowl and nice cocktail, try to avoid dinner. read more

Probably one of the worst meals I've had in a while. I left half of my food - which for me is pretty unheard of. The pretzel bread starter was ok, although the smoky cheese sauce wasn't great. It left a bit of a bitter aftertaste. The chicken wings weren't bad (I had buffalo) although blue cheese dip was too creamy and I could barely taste the blue cheese. The burgers were where it went wrong. I tried to order the Kingpin (bacon cheeseburger) but was told they would only cook the burgers well done. Now if you won't do them rare, I get it, but only well done? I don't want an overcooked burger so I changed my order to the chicken burger. I expected a chicken fillet. What I got was a breaded, bland, tasteless, fatty lot of thigh (ok it was a lot of thigh, the burger was quite big). It was horrible. The bacon was fatty and undercooked. The slaw was basically just Mayo. I barely noticed the cheese, I certainly my didn't taste it. I shared fries with my companion. They were greasy and disgusting. I ate only a couple. The bill came to £50 for drinks for the two of us which is the worst £50 I've ever spent. Seriously I left this place and went to a local chicken shop and got a fillet burger that was a million times better. Oh and did I mention the slow and unhelpful service? One to avoid. read more

So I learned of this place via the Festival of Friendship but since I couldn't make it into town, I thought I'd check out this place with my friend. We were really excited to go bowling and the £29 (Eat, Bowl, Drink) deal they have on at the moment sounded really good. Sadly, our Sunday-funday was dampened with the inadequate food service they have here. The bowling part of it was great! Being Sunday, we were lucky to walk in and get a lane immediately. Everyone was really friendly on that side. However, the restaurant was very slow to serve us. After we finished bowling, we had to queue up for another round because a lot of people were waiting. The queue was expected to be an hour so we got a table. I didn't count how long we've been sitting, but we read the menu 3 times. Finally, the server came up to us and as we explained the £29 deal, he argued that they only have that deal from monday-friday. We waited so long for food service, that our buzzer asked us to go back to the bowling area. It was probably less than an hr wait, but still. It was all too uncomfortable. Finally, after our second bowling game, we were once sat down again, and they took 20 mins before a server came up to us. We nearly left, and in hindsight we should have just left. The food took another 20 mins to come out and the people who came in after us were served their food first. In the end, our bill came up to over £100 between me and my friend because they put all the items in individually and (AGAIN) argued that the £29 deal is for a different location. Yet, they have the promotion leaflets and posters at the venue. They were happy to adjust the cost for us, but I left feeling disappointed. This wasn't what I was expecting on a Sunday. read more

So pre Booked for a £25 bowling and meal deal. When we arrived issues checking in, when we started bowlling our lane wasn't working - had to wait 15mins for someone to come and fix it , the guy came and couldn't undo the plastic cover - one of our party y wwws able to u do it so he wss able to look and fix the issue - Then our pins kept getting stuck etc game went over the time and was told we should have finished earlier - no apologises from manager or anyone- then we sat down for dinner- drinks took 25mins Starters came out and still two people didn't have drinks we had to ask 3times- Then mains came out and 3 of the 8 orders were wrong- Chicken ones were black and looked horrible like it was reheated - Then one of us was having desert and we had to ask twice for that _ The bill came as was told we had to pay a service charge - we said as the service was awful we wasn't going to pay it but was happy to leave a tip- Then was told the bill was £30 deal not £25 even I had a screen shot and advertising in the bowling was saying £25 as well. This is for the bowling only really. My friend and his daughter did eat but we only shared some chips and they were your typical French fries, nothing particularly special but not too bad either! The bowling is good fun (as we all know bowling is) but the organisation behind the bowling desk is pretty shocking. You can book online but if it's within the week you have to ring. We arrived having rang and paid the deposit but they couldn't find out pre-paid booking. We were eventually given a lane where, to help, they plugged our names in the system - how kind - but then any matter after that i.e. getting the barriers up, getting a drink, getting any form of assistance had to be asked for and then led to a good 10 minute wait. We only had an hour of bowling! I do like bowling and I would go back here because of this but I really do think they need to look a bit more into the way they organise their staff and the booking system itself! read more

All star is a particular favourite of mine and my partners. Be it the retro American decor or the fact you can bowl whilst you eat (granted not that we ever have) always seem to pull us in. We have visited 3 times , and I can say that the ribs there particularly are some of the best I've had. The burgers are ok.... whilst unfortunately their pork dish is far too salty. The main bug bare I have is that the ribs are served alone. Now at £18 this isn't great, particularly as the chips or smoked mash (which is great) are between 3-5 pounds each. I've been to All Star Lanes on a few occasions... twice to bowl, once for a milkshake... you know. Standard fare. So one of my favorite things about All Star is that it's an American themed chain, so they've got Twizzlers in stock! While this may not seem like an amazing thing to most Brits, and believe me, it isn't, as most Brits who have tried my beloved favorite candy are not impressed, it is a HUGE deal for me. Bless them for this fact alone. There are lots of lanes at this location. I've been to the location in Bloomsbury after having been to the Stratford location and found the tininess of it to be borderline hilarious. So if you need and like a bit more space, the Stratford location is the one for you. Service was great! On my most recent visit (last night) we went for a cousin's birthday and had a dedicated waiter fella the whole evening who gladly took our repeated drink orders, food all came out in a nice and orderly fashion, was prompt with the bill and taking our money... super lovely guy. I will say the bathrooms were a disaster. Most without TP, pretty dirty in general without delving into specifics as nobody wants to read that. I do love a good diner style restaurant and All Star is a very good diner! I had the buttermilk fried chicken with some extra avocado and sweet potato fries. The chicken was delicious and the avocado was ripened to perfection. I've also had their goat's cheese stack burger which was just divine! The only downside is that it's a wee bit pricey and you have to order the fries separately which makes it more expensive. But this is a great place for a once in a while treat. Their milkshakes are also really good (Oh Sweet Jeez is super chocolatey!) as are the desserts, though the main food is usually very filling so you'll probably be too stuffed! I love the cocktails here as they've a big list to chose from and the barmen are friendly and love making a cocktail of your fancy, just tell them what you like! If you fancy a game of bowling they do 2 games for £10 every Monday too! read more

Straight away I walked into the restaurant, where I was instantly greeted and welcomed. I informed the host that we just wanted to bowl as it was alcohol day so we were just going to bowl and then skip from place to place drinking. The host walked us through to the bowling reception where I was met by a very friendly attendant (Sergio I think was his name) who teased me about asking for a size 14 bowling shoe and had plenty of jokes to share. Once we began bowling instantly an attendant came to our table to take some drinks orders, I was very satisfied with their drinks menu with a large range of cocktails and draught beers. I ordered a coors light and a bourbon bomb ( very similar to a jaeger bomb just the Jaegermeister is replaced with Jack Daniels and the red bull with root beer and it is served in a stein style glass with a handle). The wine list wasn't very comprehensive with only one rosé wine on offer and about 4 whites and 4 reds, which is okay as the theme doesn't really go for wines but I can imagine it would be a problem of you were dining there and wanted a nice red to go with your meal. The place had a very stateside feel to it so they did well pulling off the theme. I will definitely be going back soon because I was happy with the attentive table service and happy staff ... But mainly because I finally one at bowling (which hasn't happened in years) and because of my love for those bourbon bombs. read more

The last few times I've been here I have been disappointed with the service I received, particularly the last time. I was with a small group and they seemed very put out by everything we wanted to do (aka bowl and eat) - it was like they didn't want out money! It isn't a cheap thing to do either, very over priced in fact but the look of the place is worth it IF the service improves.
