This is a wonderfully old-school and sophisicated London members club - perfect for a game of lawn…read moretennis or just hanging out drinking tea and reading a book in one of the beautiful conservatories or on the terrace (I did the latter!) You can only get in here with a member - and most people are either married into or born into membership at Hurlingham because the wait is around 15 years - but luckily members can bring a bunch of people at a time. The grounds are gorgeous and with a perfect weather weekend you can spend hours wandering around and taking in the beautiful scenery. If you decide to opt for a membership, by the time your name is at the top of the list 15 or so years down the track, you may just be about nearing the right age to fit in with the clientele here. Yes, I'm talking OAPs. This club is a million miles away from the media crowd you find in most well known members club, this really is a place for the old-school English gentleman in his suit - which gives it a special vibe. Oh and don't forget your crisp whites on the tennis courts, no other gear allowed here!

This private club is a wonderful sanctuary in the middle of busy London…read more Its grounds are simply divine and the view onto the Thames is really gorgeous. You feel like you've stepped into some alternate universe where everyone is friendly and nice. There's a great playground for children, an outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi i think, tennis courts, croquet lawns etc. There are the usual rules regarding wearing only white. The restaurant is also quite yummy though I wouldn't say it's mind-blowing. The BBQ in the summer is delicious though! Obviously the down-sides are that it's ridiculously expensive to become a member and the waiting list is close to almost a century.

SPLASH!!!!!! This 5…read morestar review only applies during periods of heatwave like the one we had over the WImbledon tennis fortnight this year. During those periods, this unheated pool is the perfect antidote. At 90m, the main pool at Tooting Bec lido is the largest open air pool in Europe. There's a separate children's pool and a cafe, all wrapped up in grand surroundings. It can get busy as you can imagine when the sun comes out but it's well worth for a dip to cool off and to lie in sun and luxuriate.

The pool is c90m long and c30 metres wide, meaning that when it is busy there is still plenty of room to swim. The water is heated by the sun, which in London means that it is take your breath away cold but once you get used to the temperature it is pleasant especially on hot days. The entrance fee for adults is around £7 which considering London prices isn't too bad. There are indoor changing rooms as well as separate outdoor changing cubicles with brightly painted doors. There is a grassy area on which to sit as well as spaces around the edge of the pool. There is also a separate paddling pool and a cafe for snacks on the site. The only downside for me is the lack of lockers to put valuables in, although you can ask staff to keep stuff in lockers in their area.

It's so cool being…read moreable to walk where Djokovic, Federer, Nadal, Alcaraz, and all of the former greats have played. We booked a tour online. On the tour we got to see court 1, centre court, the press room, a roofop, and walk the grounds. After the tour we had tickets for the museum. The grass is absolutely breathtaking. I can't believe what great care everything is in. Especially after I toured the Australian Open in Melbroune this past summer. This venue is certainly the granddaddy of them all. I like how they leave the scores of the championship matches on the scoreboard all year. And then, throughout the park they have the entire bracket scores from every single match played during Wimbledon of that year. I liked all of the history and facts that they tell you along the way. The only downside is they need to give more time for photos. You'd get like exactly 1 minute for a photo and then get yelled at about moving onto the next location.

Was fortunate enough to score both Centre Court and No. 1 Court tickets for the same day! I should start with actually getting here. It's pretty straightforward. If you're taking the Tube, you want to take the District Line and the closest station is Southfields. Be prepared to walk though, it is about a 20 min walk to AELTC. You get to also pass by the Queue too...very fortunate I did not have to go through overnight camping at the Queue. I have nothing but amazing things to say about the facilities here. Even though it's a very very old place, you wouldn't be able to tell with all the modernization they have done here. Quite beautiful honestly! Centre Court is obviously where everyone wants to be, I do wish that the corridors were less tight but it is after all a very old structure in the first place. No. 1 Court is much more modern since it was built in 1997 and thus has more concourse space. But both have amazing leg room. Never felt more comfortable! Food options are plentiful. There are quick service options as well as three different sitdown restaurants that you can make reservations for. And of course, you can't come here without having the famous strawberries and cream! Every tennis fan must find a way to come to AELTC one day. It basically is a pilgrimage for tennis fans!
