Probably my favourite park in London because during the week it's much less busy and doesn't attract as many tourists as Green, Hyde and Richmond Parks. Wide roads/paths for pedestrians and cyclists and beautiful scenery. You can walk through the middle to see lovely trees and benches to relax on, or you can walk along the north side with the park on one side and the Thames and city skyline on the other. Towards the centre there are ponds with some ducks and other birds. Lovely place for dog walking too. There are also a couple of small coffee carts and a restaurant. read more

Yet another one of London's great parks, this one is surrounded by beautiful neighborhoods one all sides, the River Thames, and luscious bridges from one side of the bank to the other. It does get super cold during the Fall and Winter months, so dress warmly if you're visiting during that time. Perhaps one of the most popular events you'll hear about taking place at this park is something called Bonfire Night or Guy Fawkes Night. After having had it explained to me several times, I still have no idea why they celebrate a failed attempt at a bombing over a hundred years ago, and I get the feeling not too many Londoners do, either. However, it doesn't stop them from throwing a huge bonfire party compete with food stands with queues a mile long and an enormous bonfire in the middle of the park. It does fill up, so you must book your tickets in advance. Other than that, it's just a really big park that you can visit and hang out in/ jog through of you happen to be in the area. read more

What a lovely park! While visiting your fair city, I ran a 10K in Battersea Park and got to see a lot of it as the race was four loops around most of the park. Very clean and well-maintained, the park was enjoyed by runners, dog walkers, children and parents and other just out for a relaxing stroll or a seat on a bench. They have nice facilities in the middle of the park, places for kids to play, lovely gardens and plantings and lots of open spaces to use for whatever (as long as it's legal, I'm assuming). Was very happy I got to see this park and would recommend it for a nice stroll. It's easy to get to from anywhere in the city. read more

Although I don't live far from the park, I realised I had never properly explored it. With not much else planned for bank holiday, we went for a stroll throughout the park. We went through the Kensington gate towards the pagoda and the children's zoo. We then walked through the vast areas of beautiful greenery and happened upon the boating lake. Just around the corner was a neat outdoor pub / seating area, where we shared a jug of pimms for £20. It was both relaxing and fun, basking in the sun and sipping on our pimms. As we walked further around the park, I was pleasantly surprised by its range of amenities. They have tennis courts and areas for work out, a performance arena, and go ape to name a few. I would love to try more of these next time. But to even just sit on the grass looked great fun -- not as crowded like Green Park, with ample space for both family and friends gatherings alike. Battersea Park is one of my favourite places to hang out on a hot summer's day in London. Even though I'm not local anymore, I still go back to this gorgeous park. There's plenty of space in the park to hang with friends, bring a BBQ and watch the world go by. There are toilet facilities too, which is handy after more than a few cans of Pimms in the park! There's usually lots of kids in the summer since the Battersea Children's Zoo is situated in the park along with other facilities for kids... My favourite thing about Battersea Park, though, is taking a pedal boat around the Battersea Park Lake. It's so romantic and peaceful. Even if romance isn't in the air, it's equally fun with a friend. In winter, there are many events which run from time to time at the park. One of the stand out winter events is the fireworks on November 5th. Battersea Park puts on a great show... This is such a beautiful park in a gorgeous area of London, if you've not been there, don't wait till summer - go visit now! read more

Royal Park, full of the usual stuff you might find in a Royal park, plus the Buddha. Occasionally they host events like charity runs, or recently Formula-E. Great for local people, not-so-great if you live on the other side of London and everyone has decided to meet in Battersea Park at 9am on a Sunday! :) The café in the middle is fairly decent, and it has some other activities and a car park if you're driving there. read more

Beautiful park! I first visited Battersea Park for the first time on a gorgeous spring day and the sun was shining. I entered through the Chelsea gate and found my first ice cream stall within only a couple of minutes (result!) You can take a walk (or run) along the river bank or take up some tennis in the courts they have there! There's so much to do and lots of activities and things to hire. They have some beautiful sculptures and water features throughout the park. I walked around for about 40 minutes just enjoying the sunshine and the green grass and there was definitely so much more to the park that I just didn't see! What a revelation! I had only been here briefly in the past, and for the life of me I don't know why. On a recent hot sunny weekend I visited friends here to soak it all up. Although it's far away for me, worth the visit for a day out. As we came in the main gate on Chelsea Bridge we could see the foamy white marquees of the chelea flower show across the water. Along the riverbank there are lovely small hills near the pagoda to picnic on. In the centre of the park is a lake and there are great sports facilities - a running track, tennis courts and cricket fileds. If the weather gets too hot, head to the fountains where you can carefully paddle and enjoy the spray of the huge jets. read more

Wonderful, medium sizes park in London, just south of the river. They have a large adventure playground for children of varying ages, as well as a "Go Ape", which is a treetop parcour for older children and adults and looks immensely fun! Right next to the playground is a small crazy golf course and a restaurant. There's a small zoo, a Buddhist pagoda, beautifully kept gardens and a Thames path along the top edge of the park. Battersea Park deserves every one of its five stars, because it has it all. From boating to bowls to cricket to fishing to tennis (19 floodlit courts!) to football, Battersea Park has your sporting needs covered. Then there's the running and walking trails, the playgrounds and the cycling. The park features sculptural art, and of course it's home to the Peace Pagoda that overlooks the Thames. It's rife with gardens (British and subtropical) as well as wild foliage. There is a wild deer enclosure and other wildlife as well as a children's zoo. The lakes and waterways are peaceful and well maintained. Vitally, access to the park is easy, as the Chelsea and Albert Bridges sandwich it, many bus routes travel by it and Battersea Park BR station is just around the corner. But, most importantly, Battersea Park is pretty and oh-so picturesque. read more

Undoubtedly one of the best parks in London this park has a huge array of facilities and is very well connected. First, getting here: Battersea Park and Queenstown Road train stations are both 5 minutes away from the park. They are served by trains to/from Victoria and Waterloo respectively. A wide range of buses also serve the park, including the 345, 156, 344, 137, 452 and 49 (see tfl website for full details) and the park is also a short walk from the Chelsea Embankment River Stop. Second, park facilities: These include the usual large grassy areas, wooded areas, public toilets and the like but the park also has; a boating lake, ornate gardens, ducks to feed, a surprisingly good children's zoo, excellent sport facilities (including tennis courts, astroturf and more (including indoor facilities), bikes and peddle-powered go-kart type vehicles to rent out, a nursery, a café, playground, peace pagoda and decent art gallery. Plus, Chelsea's King's Road, Clapham Junction, Battersea Old Town, Vauxhall and Clapham High Street/Common are all within walking distance/a short bus ride. Add to all of this that it's on the river Thames and you can't go wrong. Another major avantage to my mind is that this is a park used mainly by Londoners, unlike Hyde Park or Regent's Park you can come here to escape the tourists. read more

One of my favourite perks about moving to my new neighbourhood is how close I am to this luscious park. When I first moved to London I was steps away from Regent's Park which up until recently was my favourite in London. Not any more. Now that I spend intimate mornings with Chelsea, Albert and the Peace Pagoda, I can't imagine anything better. (Not to be confused with the similarly titled Cheech & Chong film.) Today I was amused for a span of a mile and a half watching sailboats attempt to navigate the windy Thames. Sure, maybe I was sweating away on a run, but I had a near-religious "could be worse" experience as I watched the poor blokes wading through the muddy water with a flipped sail boat. Ahhh... Love love love Battersea Park. Although I live right by Clapham Common and am a fan of that one too, it's leafier sister on the Thames is just simply a more beautiful park. Great for a picnic, a pedal/rowing boat excursion, tennis, a bike ride, really anything you can think of. Nice meandering paths, a small children's zoo, even a peace pagoda! Although not the size of Hyde Park, you don't get the tourist crowds either... I haven't been to all of the parks yet but so far this is my favorite :) read more

I went to this park a few times. Once to play football, another to do the Pants in the Park run. Each time was great. But every time I was there I saw people riding these bikes but were sitting down. These bikes resemble those big wheel tricycles when you were a kid, but they are really called recumbents. You can rent them for 10 quid for an hour to ride around the park. I find myself in Battersea Park three times a week on runs, so am I a fan? Absolutely. What a gorgeous, giant piece of green right in the middle of London for anyone to explore and enjoy! The park is fairly huge, directly across the river from Chelsea, and directly beside the Battersea Power Station which is such an incredible structure and I am in constant awe of it. It's, lush and green and shaded, and right on the Thames. The enormous trees not only provide the aforementioned shade, but on the more common less-than-sunny London days, provide pretty good cover from the rain! There's plenty to see and do! The Peace Pagoda is super gorgeous. Although I haven't taken advantage, there are bike and boat rentals, a track, fields for sporting, and a zoo! There are often festivals and fun fairs in the park as well. read more

Battersea Park is a much better place for Londoners than the RoyalParks across the river. It is more of a locals park and has lots of areas to explore. Good parking at a reasonable price and lots of different ways to walk, cycle or blade you way around. Only experienced a teeny section of the entirety of this huge park. Near the Albert Gate side. Helped put on part of the Park's Diamond Jubilee Festival and it was a wonderful place. Lovely park for Great walks... Green grass, Lots of space. There's a secret garden hidden away in the park, nice place to chill out and relax. An interesting park, combining as it does various sporting facilities and cultural ones ( the Peace Pagoda) with river frontage. Put together, it makes for an interesting place to walk around, but doesn't have the sweeping vistas of, say, a Regent's Park. There is nothing better than a beautiful park, where you might have the chance to see hundreds of racing sumos! I managed to be incredibly late for helping Ashley at the jubilee event last weekend...and as I got completely lost, I had a chance to have another look around this lovely park. Things I love: - The pagoda! It looks so much more Japanese-y than the one in Kew gardens! - Sports pitches, tennis courts, a bowling green, and even a boating lake - Walking along the Thames in the shade of pretty trees - Gorgeous small gardens to explore as well as wide open spaces that are perfect for picnics The best reason to go: This park is also the venue for the fantastic sumo run!! 100s of people dress up as sumo (with inflatable suits) and run a 5km race for charity. Beautiful park in Battersea London, running along the banks of the Thames River. This park is huge!!! There are so many different sections and parts to it, one needs a whole day to explore. Absolutely must see place to visit in summer. Wonderful cycle paths, really lovely afternoon spent cycling through the park. Go and enjoy it. So big that even with crowds you can still find a place of your own to enjoy. There is a little dam upon which you can hire pedal boats. Juts be aware that if you cycling there you do stick to the marked cycle paths as the policing of this is quite stringent. read more

Battersea Park is by far my favorite park, it has so much going on and there's always something new to discover. Thrive is a charity allowing benefits of gardening to change individual's life development through learning new skills. There are two projects that you should at least look at if you wonder through the park, Thrive Battersea Garden Project which is near the Sports Arena and the Old English Garden which is a little hard to find but it's a treat when you do. Other feature of the park are the lakes, 1950's fountains, sports arena & track, tennis courts, bowling green, zoo, bigs spaces, scultures, art gallery, river side walks, ice-cream vans and a small but wonderful tropical garden. Really Nice, just came back from My morning run in the park. It's like a oas from the city.

Rented one of those Barclays bicycles and by following the signs rode across the Chelsea bridge and stumbled across this wonderful park. Beautifully laid out with that gorgeous gold statue (found out later it's the Japanese Peace Pagoda) , fountains, a children's zoo, walking paths and plenty of places to lay out or sit down for a picnic. In my opinion Battersea Park is one of the most interesting parks in London. It is more than just a place where you can take a walk, sit on a bench, or walk the dog. It is a park which can and needs to be explored. Its flora and fauna, wildlife are just amazing. Except for the fact that their fireworks show on Guy Fawkes' was quite brilliant it has taken me a few visits to come to grips with Battersea Park. It is so family orientated with playgrounds for children, bicycle and skating paths and large lawns for ball games and there is always a friendly, playful and young feeling in the air when you visit. It is a large park on the south side of the Thames next to the Battersea Power Station. The closest train station is Vauxhall and it is a short walk to Clapham. It is so nice to visit a park that feels as if it is being used to its full capacity all year round! And this is how it feels here. Any time of the year there are always people in the park, it is always looked after and in a good state though never perfect and there is always a bench or patch of grass to make yourself comfortable on and do dome people-watching. A true surprise on the 'wrong' side of the river, this is certainly worth a Sunday afternoon visit. read more
