Finding a competent tax professional was a high priority when we moved from Baltimore to South Carolina (Mount Pleasant) 4 1/2 years ago. You see, our first year's tax returns involved two states, multiple cash flows, distributions, purchase and sale of two properties, business interests, etc. , requiring proficiency above punching numbers into a canned tax program. The front office staff is friendly, professional and efficient. Each January, we receive a notebook in which I complete tax-related proprietary forms and attach official documents which simplify the practice's information gathering phase. During our appointment, we discussed (with Allan) changes in our lives over the last year ... and anything that we could foresee ... that could affect our tax position in 2017. Allan does not actually key the input, that is completed by one of the staff specialists; however, he reviews every return and accompanying schedules. I like the fact that I've seen the same faces year after year. I know you're wondering about cost ... it's a function of the number and complexity of schedules ... so our cost each year has varied.
