They have helped us with payroll questions for our business and they do as little or as much as we need help with. Our personal returns are quite complicated because of the businesses we own and sometimes our returns are over 150 pages! We happily pay our bill each year and always check the square for IRS or SC Tax Commission to speak to Mr. Thiem regarding our information if need be. Mr. Thiem has represented us in two or three separate audits and they have all come out favorably - he stands behind what he puts on paper, so be truthful to him! He always knows that we need an extension and automatically files one for us - what a great person to have on your side! With Mr. Thiem nearing retirement, we hope that Mr. McCutcheon will be ready to handle all of our business (which we don't doubt for a second!) as we will stay with this long-established firm! As a courtesy, we proactively provided questions for his review in advance to ensure these topics were feasible to discuss. We were surprised to learn bluntly from him, during the outset of this call, that there is apparently a full set of rules, restrictions, constraints, etc. that must be met in meeting with any client for this 20 minute session. Further, his unpreparedness for this session - not calling us at set time, not even noticing our simple questions in advance, etc, is appalling and alarming. Beware! Avoid!

Mr. Milligan is a very nice guy, and apologized for the mistakes and took action to correct them, buy re-doing the tax forms and explaining what needed to be done. He is very knowledgeable and just made an assumption that my company would be listed as an S-Corp (as a majority of LLC's elect to be), rather than a C-Corp . I am sure this is a rare occurrence. Original Review: In our initial consultation, I went over all the details with my notes. He didn't make any notes. I assumed he knew what he was doing and figured he was the professional. When the forms were complete, I went in to sign them, but was not given a copy. He said he'd mail me the forms the next day. Seemed weird at the time, but I took it as standard procedure. I should have looked better at the forms - my fault! When the forms didn't arrive, I called. He said he'd put them in the mail. Still, no forms. I got a call asking to come pick them up, which I did. Got home and noticed some mistakes, which I emailed him about. I got a short reply, "I'll get right on it." Three weeks later, no word, so I email again asking for an update. He replied that he was going to file an amendment, but "they" don't look at amendments until September, so there was no hurry. (?). Today, I get a letter from the IRS stating that the incorrect form had been completed for my business. All I wanted is for my personal and business taxes to be done correctly. 2014 was my first year in business and I wanted to get things right and sought outside help. If all these problems are worked out to my satisfaction, I will update and amend this review.
