This review is specifically for the one on Washington Street across from the court. This was a great little library. Centrally located with easy parking and in a very cute part of town. Staff was relatively helpful. I had some issues reserving a room, but the librarian on duty was very accommodating when the system wasn't quite working right. The wifi works well and there are a number of cozy places to sit and read or do work. While there was only one conference room you could realistically have a call or meeting in, there is also a nice study corner (pictured with the glass) that was a very productive place for me to work. All in all the library is well laid out, with a separate children's section away from the more quiet study and work areas. Note that the study/conference room is right next to the children's area. But the door is relatively insulated and the fact that children might be noisy nearby makes one less likely to feel bad about having an animated phone call or meeting.

It is very nice to look at; functionally it didn't have as much seating as I would have liked and the ability to find a workspace that met my teleworking needs was not ideal. The outlets I tried to plug into did not work. The front door was also a little janky; they ended up propping it open. I don't have much use for printed materials but this is an actual library that does have books and magazines, and people were walking out with DVDs. It is a great resource for the community but it did seem from my experience that it needed a little update/maintenance.

I'd like to see there's a lot more books there for people of all ages. Also, the computers are pretty out of date: I know about computers, not as much of course as experts, but for what I saw of the computers after logging on, they are still running the Windows XP operating system and it's been unsupported since April of 2014 and some editions since April of 2019. I know it's not recommended to do banking stuff and such online from library computers, but what if you don't have a computer at home? I wish the library here could have a better connection with the university, because maybe for example, how expensive it is to get professional support from Microsoft and that it's overall more expensive to have the upkeep of Windows at public places such as libraries, when sometimes the budget doesn't call for much into some essential library services- in this case, the computers. If at all possible, from what I've seen, with Linux, it is free and you can get professional support from a bit of companies and I think having closer ties to the Frostburg college, maybe they can help and advise how to switch over to Linux. I think that would be good to do and more cost-effective. I myself would be happy to talk to the head librarians in charge about their thoughts. I don't know much about Linux, but I do know of some stuff and alternative programs to programs that are on Windows. Like instead of Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge, use Mozilla Firefox instead and instead of Microsoft Office, use LibreOffice instead. I do look forward to going to the library, but it would be nice to see if possible, some changes in place with them switching to Linux instead of keeping Windows for their computers and having more books, if the budget allows it.

I love the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. Walking in feels more like entering a castle or historic…read morelandmark than a library. The building is beautiful, and every time I visit I notice something new. The staff are always welcoming, friendly, and willing to help, which makes the library feel comfortable and inviting. What I appreciate most is that there are so many activities and events that are free or very low cost. There are plenty of programs for teens, families, and adults, and everyone is welcome. It's definitely worth the drive from the suburbs if you're looking for a unique place to spend a few hours. Between the architecture, the helpful staff, and all the community events, it's one of the coolest libraries I've visited. I wish I would have known about this place when my boys were little, it would be a great stop after visiting the museum.

I could spend all day just in that section. You can look at (and check out) all sorts of things from musical scores, concert programs, newspaper clippings and more. They even have instruments you can check out! I don't think there is any other library in the area that offers this sort of department. There is something for everyone here (and then some!). I've been here with my kids when they were babies and have taken them here for a variety of programs or even just to stop in when we are in the area. There are plenty of places to relax and enjoy your book (including a cafe) but lots of quiet nooks and seating areas as well. There is no parking lot specific to the library, but there is a ton of metered parking in the area. I highly recommend visiting this library, especially if you are looking for something unique. Or even just to enjoy some quiet time in a beautiful space.

Morgan County Public Library is located in downtown Berkeley Springs, WV. Apparently there is an associated book club that meets monthly. Note the hours; the library is closed all day on Sunday and Wednesday. This library is so charming. Besides it being nestled into downtown Berkeley Springs, the library building is filled with character. It used to be a home and was built in 1870. The original lot owner signed the Declaration of Independence! If you love public libraries, or if you are unfamiliar, you will find a library home here.
