BEWARE!!!!!! They will coax you into saying things, write a policy, grab your money and then in…read moretwo months contact you that the company isn't honoring the policy. This based on some misleading information they coaxed you into giving them. Even if you explain everything, the woman will tell you, "OK we will put this down and they will accept it". Then two months later, they made their commission, you are screwed out of money and they could care less.

I moved to Florida from Pennsylvania a few years ago to take care of my elderly mother. I kept my auto insurance with my carrier from PA. I eventually located my mother's condo insurance which had been with these folks for over twenty years! Let me say that again, twenty years! I paid the annual premium for three or four years before I got around to shopping it. OMG, what a shock! I quickly discovered that their were numerous carriers, several of higher quality, that would insure us for much less $$! But wait, it gets worse. After a little bit of research, I discovered that these folks were writing business with some of those less expensive and higher quality carriers! Needless to say, I moved our condo insurance and saved over $300 annually for the same coverage. Avon Park is known for its high percentage of retirees like my mother. Many of these senior citizens don't have the ability and/or faculties to shop insurance like they should. I have an uncomfortable feeling that my mother was paying an unnecessarily high premium for a very long time. That uncomfortable feeling drives me to say two stars!

The staff is professional, friendly and willing to help me every time I needed assistance. Having read the other review I am shocked that most people do not take advantage of having a in person insurance agent and visit them at renewal time. It is not uncommon to shop around for sure, but whenever my policy is up for renewal I have them review my policy. That being said if you are just leaving it up to paying the bill each time it renews that would be on you to make sure you are getting the best rate every time. I'm sure they have a huge customer base and it would be impossible to check on each one at renewal every time for every single person. This family owned business has been around for a very long time in our area and I could not even think about going somewhere else without checking my possibilities with them first. I was told my policy would expire at the end of the term. The government required progressive to reimburse me a rebate. Instead of reimbursing me they decided to extend my coverage after termination without informing me! Now I'm receiving notices from a collection agency for non payment. My local agent assured me this wasn't the case and now I have a diminished credit score and a collections account! Can't seem to get any assistance. Very frustrating!!
