I bought the sale pictured yet they didn't give me the advertised price. I bought it and went to my car and checked because maybe I was mistaken. Well I went back inside and showed them the online price and was told that was for store pick up only. I said I was perplexed since I was "in store " buying it. Firstly, I've never stepped foot in this store. My entire body of transactions have all been via their website. That being said, this store consistently has things I can't find at my local stores in the KC area. And what's even better is that they're actually considerably less expensive on certain items. I noticed in another review that a Tater was mad about getting high grossed on allocated bourbon...bro, get over yourself, that's an everywhere thing outside of states with controlled pricing. And even then, some of the allocated items this store has currently are well below secondary market value, so I doubt that assertion regardless. The best thing? Very few stores ship to my doorstep. This one does. And it's always quick + nothing has ever come broken. They even were able to answer some questions I had with my first order. Matter of fact, I placed an order a couple hours ago and it's already shipped...that's crazy fast. This store easily gets a solid 5/5. If you can't find it at your local store, you should definitely try this one. read more

This is a tough one. Interesting selection. Serious about wine. Some (specials) prices are good, others are significantly above market (IMO). Shop carefully. Originally i wished they were closer. But my recent series of lousy customer service experiences makes me rethink that. Most recently i bought several hundreds of dollars worth of wine online. Before i came to pick it up, they gave it to some mystery person who claimed it was his/hers. As of now they are reviewing video tape rather than help me. Earlier their web site locked me out so i could not even see orders or history. When i called they knew it. To this day (nearly a year later) i still cannot log in. I do expect they will eventually make good, but right now its sorta my problem. So, buyer beware. Should it be 3 stars? When they make good, maybe. Should it be one star? For not trying very hard, maybe. ps: several days later the credit did appear on my credit card. But only after they reviewed security tapes and got their wine back, which they never even offered to deliver to me. The "other" partner did call and apologize. read more

I now have gone here 2x in the past 30 days. Their website stated they carry a certain brand and size of Tequila and in stock. I drove to the store and told they don't even carry that size and wanted to sell me a larger size that costs almost double. Today was the last straw here. I checked to see if they had an item in stock. It happened to be on sale according to their website. I went to pick up 2 bottles and was to be charged more. I stated I saw it on sale on their website. The mgr/owner? said I needed to order the item online to get the sale price. Needless to say I walked out without making the purchase. Why would an owner not sell it at the sale price but instead have me walk out empty handed. There is no statement on their website that stated sales prices only if ordered on line. Sounds pretty lame to me. I pass Bottle King almost everyday and they will gladly make the sale with me. Small Town store needs to step up their game here!! read more

Location, Location, Location. Located right on Allendale Avenue, this shop is a perfect place to drop in to get a six pack of beer (good selection) or a bottle of wine (good selection) and bring it to one of the local BYO's on Allendale, there are plenty. Parking is usually available, and their prices are expected. Are they competitive with Bottle King on 17 in Ramsey? No. But location can not be beat. I recently went in to get a 1.5 of Titos and it was $38.00. Usually at bottle king it is 32 and can be on sale for 28 or 29. They have a decent selection of mixers as well. The one big issue I do have is staff is not super helpful. I can not go in their and ask for their recommendation for a nice bottle of red to go with pasta next door. Most mom and pop liquor stores can achieve that. read more

I want to leave NEGATIVE STARS!! I bought a bottle of wine, drove home and uncorked it and it was moldy. I called and they told me I could come back and exchange it. I brought back my receipt and moldy cork and they REFUSED to exchange it for something else because I didn't come back with the bottle. Immediately I told them that I wasn't going to do that since it is quite literally illegal to drive with an open container. Clearly they don't care about the legality of their shady business practices because they insisted that it was not illegal and I should have done so. One lady behind the counter suggested that if the passenger had it, that it wouldn't be illegal. I actually laughed. Once I explained to her how that is still very much illegal and there would then be no way, if I had been pulled over, to ascertain whether it belonged to the driver or the passenger, she had nothing to say. I have come here so many times and I am actually shocked at how disrespectful and ridiculous this encounter was. They seemed to be suggesting that since I didn't come back with the bottle, I was trying to pull one over on them by drinking this moldy spoiled bottle of wine and trying to get a refund. I also would like to mention I was going to buy another $40 bottle with my purchase. Needless to say I will never be setting foot in this smelly dusty rudely-employed shit hole of a liquor store ever again. For a small wine & liquor shop, this place is as good as it gets. I always order online and pick up my order at store, because the prices are 10-20% cheaper on their website and the website is so easy to use, with great organization and plenty of information about each wine, including ratings. If you order online, the prices are lower for most wines than you'll find anywhere else. Between the prices and the great selection of quality wines, I buy the majority of my wine here (around 4 bottles a month usually). The couple who owns the shop is friendly and knowledgeable. This seller is very responsive. My first two orders were shipped the next day. I called them up next day after placed my third order and they had it ready for pickup in the afternoon. The prices are competitive. The owners are nice. Agree with previous reviewer that the website is easy to use. The inventory data is mostly accurate and up to date. Although it does not show how many bottles they have in stock on the wine description page, you can add one bottle to basket first, then update the basket with a large number, say 1000. The system will response with a warning, saying "Only ?? available for this item. You attempted to order 1000". Now you know the actual bottles in stock. That's my trick. It will be great if the owner can enhance the website to show the volumes in real time. Definitely will buy again and recommend to friends. read more
