Just the absolute worst quality film scans in all of Utah. No color consistency whatsoever, scanner dust on every photo and film borders on most. This is the first time in a year trying them again but I will never use them again. Took so long just for garbage, i'm going to have to go to another lab for a rescan. **Canadian passport pictures rejected multiple times** I recently visited Allen's Camera, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing and very frustrating. They claim to do Canadian passport pictures, but they tried, and my own and my son's got rejected twice each, so four sets of pictures got rejected by the Canadian government. I reached out the first time, and they retook them. Mine was retaken without adjusting the lighting (which was the main reason for rejection), and my son's was retaken with the addition of some lights, but they were rejected again. Of course, I reached out again, both in-store and on the phone, and the gentleman was rude. He agreed to retake the pictures, but without changing anything to the lighting, which upset me because that was the main reason they had been rejected. The gentleman even suggested that I could have altered the pictures, and that would be the reason they got rejected. But who would do that? I'm an honest Canadian citizen who only wanted to renew my passport. The gentleman also commented on my makeup, which is none of his business (and I don't wear a lot of it!). And with all that, my passport had expired, so I couldn't even go to Canada to have them taken there (where every pharmacy does it and they are set up with the proper lighting). I finally went somewhere else (Nichols Photo lab), where they have a tool on their computer. They ran it to test the pictures. They passed the test and were accepted! Now I have my passport in hand and will never set foot there again. read more

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this camera store. They chemically damaged two rolls of film I entrusted to them for development--both completely ruined. What's worse is that they never notified me of the issue or offered any form of apology. I only found out what happened after I called them myself--twice--on two separate occasions, trying to get an explanation. To this day, I have not received a refund or any acknowledgment of responsibility. This level of carelessness and lack of customer service is unacceptable, especially for something as irreplaceable as film photography. I cannot recommend this place to anyone who values their work. read more

I dropped off a roll of film to get scanned and developed here, but unfortunately something was wrong with their chemicals and my film turned out very blue (I used Kodak Portra which is usually a very warm toned film). I called the staff and they were nice about it and refunded the cost of the scans and development. However, I can't help feeling sad because the film itself was expensive, and I had photos on there that I was really excited about. The development was so strange, that even with color correction they still look off. I wouldn't recommend this business for film development. read more

I got the wrong charger without fully checking the manual till I went home. The employee was nice enough to exchange it for me and I didn't have to look anywhere else for a specific charger. It was right there! Also, they took their time to help me get the items I needed. The best customer service hands down. Awesome place to look for specific items like battery/camera charger. Totally inconsistent level of customer service. Spoke on the phone to someone six months ago (maybe it was the owner, or maybe a manager) and he was fantastic, helpful, took time to chat, and encouraged me to come into his store to check it out. So I did. I was pivotig back to film from digital and was looking for a reliable lab. I've been going in weekly since then, but probably I am done with Allens now. Every time I go in, the staff is almost completely different. They range from being politely helpful on a good day, to couldn't be bothered on many others. Yesterday was the last straw. I'd been standing waiting for a while as someone was being helped with prints, etc. by the (evidently) only person available to help customers. Two other staff were back at the scanning machines. Then someone walks in, steps past me, calls out to the two people in the back one of whom immediately gets up and helps her while I'm STILL standing there waiting. I get upset by this, and start to leave, of course, and then I get some grudging passive-aggressive service from the person whom I'd been waiting for. The other two keep chatting away, evidently couldn't care less that I'd been standing there for ten minutes when she jumped the line. If the staff of this place don't care about customer service at all, it hardly matters how the owner/manager is on the phone. Just not worth it. read more

So- I came from Brooklyn New York looking for a tripod and instead I found Andy who I would totally take home to mom. I'm a very novice photographer and not only did I get a tripod I also got great assurance that the guilty pleasure purchase of a camera was actually a good one by a beginner without a clue. Andy also gave me some wonderful advice on lenses for wildlife and he even took the time to give me tips and hints that would make me better. He was never pushy he never tried to sell me something I didn't need- I can smell a con artist a mile away and this guy is the real deal. He has a new bestie in Brooklyn. I bought a Variable ND filter from here. I ended up finding a different one that I originally wanted elsewhere. I gave them a call to ask about the return policy and unfortunately the employee didn't know it and said that "I would have to ask my boss and he isn't here until tomorrow". I normally wouldn't think twice about this however when I was there making my purchase. Someone who seemed to be in charge told another employee who was on the phone to say "I just stepped out for lunch I'll call them back". It was also like 5 pm so that's another thing that makes me question their value to customers. Also why doesn't a store have a clear return policy that an employee can't answer? Great on line photo editing and card design tools. Easy to use and the cost is SUPER reasonable. Quality of the greeting cards I ordered were excellent. Only reason for 4 not 5 stars is I was told my order was ready but when I came to pick it up it wasn't there. It got sent to the wrong location and took 2 more days to get. Do not support this shop. This is my fourth time in, first time the worker was nice but very uneducated on anything photography gear and calibration. I needed 3 lenses calibrated, picked them up and my camera only had calibration for one lens and they charged me for all three after saying they wouldn't if they didn't need calibration. Asked the woman when I was picking up, Monday morning shift and she also has no knowledge of gear and is extremely unfriendly, condescending and short. Fast forward to this weekend, I am looking to purchase the 70-200 2.8 ($2600 lens) so I rented it first. I asked an older gentleman with gray hair if this was the newest model because I am looking to purchase and this man said to me "I don't know but this is the one we have" I was appalled and he continued to treat me as if I was a disservice to him. My boyfriend walked up as he said it and we both looked at each other baffled. The customer service is non existent as well as the knowledge. Needless to say, I will never go back and will not be buying the 70-200 from them and will share this on all of the local photography forums and photography groups I'm part of. I was looking to get a photo edited with removing a van from a picture and wanted to preserve the person in the picture. This picture meant a lot to someone and was being used for a gift. I had contacted Nichols Photo first, as I came across them first. I stopped into Nichols and was told they could not do the work nor would work with me. I left the store not knowing who to call or if this would be done in the short amount of time. I waited to the last minute to have this done, but felt it was a pretty simple project. I love Allen's. I first went in to buy a lens a few years ago because I didn't feel like waiting for Amazon. They were friendly and helpful and so I started going more often.
