One of the first red flags was that Lisa does not operate under a written contract. Without a contract outlining scope, expectations, or process, important details were not clarified -- including that the original slipcovers would not be returned once deconstructed. That lack of documentation created confusion and avoidable issues later in the project. The project ultimately spanned more than six months for what should have been a straightforward slipcover job. During that time, requirements changed (she initially stated she would not need the chairs, then later required them), and portions of the work were completed by a "stitcher." The slipcovers that were delivered were inconsistent in sizing, puckered, misaligned, and only one fit properly. We returned them for correction. The final attempt removed the originally promised zipper construction and replaced it with a folded pocket bottom. The slipcovers were returned with oil stains and continued construction issues. When concerns were raised, the explanation given was that the fabric was stiff and difficult to work with. However, the issues were not related to fabric drape -- they were workmanship problems. Even after multiple rounds of revisions, Lisa maintained that she delivered the product as discussed. At the end of this process, the slipcovers were unusable, despite being fully paid for. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this workroom for slipcover construction. Clear contracts, consistent workmanship, and accountability are essential in this industry.

Our second recent project was an 1800's Victorian Corner Chair that was in the attic for years. I emailed Barry photos and he emailed right back with suggestions (to not refinish the wood as to keep the original patina) and a quote. We brought in the chair and Toni brought out various samples to choose from. The orignial silk was a teal/blue and she assisted us in finding a beautiful fabric. I wish I could give them a thousand stars…read more Probably 40 years ago, my grandmother gave me a chair that had been in her home forever. I loved it, and had it in my apartment for years. My cats destroyed the fabric, and the chair moved to the basement, where it remained until we moved to a new house about a month ago. I almost threw the chair out, but couldn't bear the thought of parting with it. So I contacted Vinny at Miro Upholstery, and he couldn't have been nicer. I went to the store to pick out a fabric, and Vinny suggested that I take some fabric books home. He gave me several books, my husband and I went through them and selected one. Miro picked up the chair and the fabric books, and today, about a month later, the chair was delivered. It is more beautiful than I could have imagined. New foam, new fabric, they touched up the wood - it's an antique chair that looks brand new. I'm completely thrilled. This was an excellent experience, and I would highly recommend Miro Upholstery.
