"Gourmet Ice Cream from the heart of Dalecarlia!" That's what it says on the web page for Rättviksglass, the brand of ice cream being sold in this establishment. It's made from ecological milk and cream from local farms.
Is it just me or are all the specialized ice cream parlors in this town worthy of 5 stars? Maybe I'm just biased in this case because the ice cream comes from my home province of Dalecarlia, but It. Is. Really. Good.
I had the "Lemoncake" (cheese cake flavour with a hint of lemon) and "Salted Caramel" flavours. "Why only two? Are you not feeling well?" you might ask. Well, this place is almost as generous with the portions as another ice cream parlour in town with a name that rhymes with PikkiTikki. I can't possibly finish three scoops, and not feel like I bit off more than I can chew, when they in reality equal 5-6 normal scoops. I've learnt that the hard way over the years.
For two (equaling 4.5 normal sized) scoops I had to part with 35 of my hard earned SEK, but it's more than fair I think, considering the size of the scoops.
Now, the "Salted Caramel", as delicious as it is, was lacking a little something that I can't quite put my finger on and the "Lemoncake" had some ice crystals in it. But they both tasted VERY OmNomNom-can-I-have-more-please-I-could-eat-this-for-breakfast-lunch-and-dinner and I KNOW I'm being picky and if I could award 4.5 stars I would, but I can't so I'll award a very STRONG 4 stars. This place is well worth coming across town to visit. read more
