Additionally, when I questioned how my unit could be very low on freon when he just personally serviced it earlier in the year his tone shifted from direct to just plain angry. It was a valid question that did not require a bitter response. Value: I paid $320 for 2lbs of freon and a service call. After that, I called several other local HVAC firms and the average cost was about $240 for the same service and type of freon. Professionalism/Skill: My problem was haphazardly diagnosed without even searching for an actual leak. I was told it would be a minimum of $1,500 to start digging into the issue. I opted to not do that because it seemed like an expensive commitment to make to a person who had not at all looked for the leak. Guessing at the problem shows a lack of skill, no matter your profession. In the end, I overpaid for poor service solely because this was the firm that installed the unit in my home years ago, before I purchased it. Take my advice and avoid these guys. Pioneer, City Heat and Air, and Rocky Top are all far better options.

Several other places sent back automated texts but Nick called within a few minutes. He came to the house later that day and I immediately got the sense that he was trustworthy and knew what he was doing. He took a look at our board, saw how old it was, and said that it would be risky to install an EV charger. There was no hard sell--he didn't say we had to replace it, just that it would probably be a good idea and explained why: houses draw a lot more elecricity than they did decades ago and an EV charger would probably put it over the top. A couple of other electricians had said that our board was nearing the end of its life, so everything he said made good sense. His quotes seemed very reasonable and very much in-line with what I'd seen online so I didn't even bother getting any quotes and hired him that day. As soon as the EV charger arrived, he came out and installed it and the new board. Shelling out for big jobs like this one is never fun, but we can rest easy knowing that Nick did everything right.

I changed out the breaker -- the extent of my electrical knowledge and that didn't resolve it. I then filed a claim with my home warranty service and that's how I got the pleasure of meeting them. They spent about an 1 1/2 hrs if not two running down the problem. Turned out there was a short in one of the lights out side and was causing everything to blow. However, they followed up on every switch in that line to ensure it was the only problem. He also found a problem that was unrelated with an outlet and fixed it. This was a small job but I was very pleased with their work effort and thoroughness. Both were extremely nice and very gracious. I've had hit or miss with the quality of the warranty work but this was a hit.
