Two things to note, especially if you're a new homeowner like me and don't have a lot of experience with hiring contractors: 1. Every contractor will have different payment methods they accept and will have different expectations for when they want to be paid. Leaf It To Us accepts a variety of payment methods (cash, cheque, E-transfer, etc.) but I did have to pay the full amount up front in order to accept the contract and confirm my booking. Up front payment is fine if you can afford it and you trust the company. If you have any questions about payment or anything else in the contract, ask before you sign anything. 2. Whenever you're considering working with a small business, keep in mind that because they have fewer staff, they might be a bit slower on the uptake and if your project is delayed for any reason (usually because of bad weather or circumstances outside anyone's control), delays may be more significant. The sample came back with two fungal issues so the decision was to prune heavily. A quote was prepared but when the arborists got into the higher branches, they discovered much of the tree was actually dead. It is a tree in the neighbourhood of 70 - 80 years so we decided to take the tree back to bare main trunks and remove all of the canopy. This will leave us a great structure to build a treehouse for our young grandchildren. Although we lost the tree, it will be useful for a treehouse and still has a great shape to fill the corner of our yard.
