WORST EXPERIENCE- AVOID at all cost! This couple may seem nice upon meeting, however they are are…read moreuntrustworthy and rude... they charged us in-full and never provided us any services. Our wedding date was scheduled one week before the pandemic occurred, when the city shut down... it was scheduled for March 21, 2020. We were crushed that we had to postpone, but knew it was no one's fault. Because we could not foresee the city shutdown, we paid Deibert the full amount a few days prior, in addition to our deposit. Every other vendor we worked with gave us our payment back (minus the deposit)... because it was the decent thing to do. Every vendor except for Deibert. They kept all of our payment, were unavailable to schedule us in 2022 since they were too busy, and wanted to charge us more money for our wedding shoot. In the end, we gave them thousands of dollars, received no photography services, and they had the audacity to feel entitled to keep all of our payments for no services rendered. And in the meantime, they opened a larger studio during the pandemic... wonder how many others they took advantage of during a hard time. I thought they were decent people during our first encounter, however they proved to us that they were capable of one of the most unethical and lowest business practices I have had the displeasure of witnessing. If you are hoping to work with honest folks, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

I had avoided doing so because I understand how hard it can be for small businesses, especially in the wedding industry, and I do not leave negative reviews lightly. That said, the request brought the experience back, and I feel it is worth sharing for other couples. We originally booked J & J Studios during lockdown in 2020 for our April 2022 wedding. In January 2022, after I received a serious medical diagnosis, my husband and I had to postpone our wedding to October. Our venue and every other vendor worked with us, requested reasonable documentation, and did not require additional payment. J & J handled things differently. We were told we would need to pay a new deposit to hold the new date, plus an additional fee because they were unlikely to rebook our original date. We were told that if they did book it, the extra cost would be refunded. With significant medical bills at the time, that added cost was not feasible. For context, about two months after we postponed, I had a friend inquire about our original April date, and she was told it was booked. I wish the experience had been different. We were willing to meet them in the middle as far as the additional payment given the circumstances but they felt they could not at the time. I understand that businesses have policies, but during an already difficult and emotional time, we were left feeling unsupported.

As soon as they were hired, they became rather unprofessional and unresponsive. They didn't reach out to ask about where they should stay over the wedding weekend until 3 days prior. At that point, all hotel rooms in the area were booked and it was only not an issue because a few people weren't able to attend the wedding due to COVID, so Ryan and his filming partner stayed in one of our rooms on property. The contract stated that the finished film would be delivered by 6 months after the wedding. I started reaching out after ~5 months to confirm that was still the case, as I hadn't heard anything from them. I emailed them every two weeks with no response. Finally, days before the contracted deadline, I got a response that they were running 4-6 weeks behind due to the large number of weddings they had because of COVID delays. I emailed them 4 weeks later with no response. Texted them, no response. Emailed again a week later. No response. My husband emailed a week after that. No response. We finally received our wedding film on 6/11/23 when the contract said the latest we'd have it was 12/25/22. That was 6 months late, not 4-6 weeks. In the few times that they did actually respond to our outreach, all we received were excuses. We'd even paid extra to get all the raw footage and we had to beg and plead for them to send that, which would have been an easy thing to send to tide us over. I do not recommend hiring this company. It's clear that this is a side hustle for Ryan and not a priority.
