After browsing other photogs in the area I came to the conclusion that Shea was the nicest, quickest to respond, and had the best prices/packages. On the day of our wedding the weather was terrible, but Shea (and his wife/assistant, Victoria) were both very understanding of my mood swings. Shea also had no problem braving the weather to get some creative pictures. Looking back on the hundreds of photos that he took I am so thankful that he was there to document everything because there were so many things that I overlooked on that busy day! Thanks to him they will forever be preserved. Sidenote, Shea provided me with a USB of all of our pictures with two folders - high resolution images and social media images. I've been thinking about whether or not I should review Shea's work since he since he e-mailed me a…read morefew days ago asking me to contribute a Yelp review. Shea is a really nice guy and a less than stellar review is probably not what he's looking for. On the other hand, there are things I wish I would have known before we booked him. First: Shea is a nice guy. He is laid back and will not be intrusive on your wedding day. Second: His pictures are really beautiful. I felt like he shot everyone so they looked their best. In fact, I thought everyone looked so great that I printed out the best pictures of everyone (cousins on the dance floor, friends chatting in the cocktail hour, different people posing, ect) and sent them to them. The pictures are really beautiful and he did a wonderful job. Third: We did not get our pictures until 6 months after our wedding, after being promised them 3 months after our wedding. It took some serious follow up to get a response and then to get the pictures. I understand there was an issue with Shea getting the 2nd shooter's photos due to unforeseen personal issues. I completely understand that things come up and deadlines need to be pushed back, but the lack of communication was really frustrating. There was a period of time where I was afraid I wouldn't get my wedding photos. Fourth: Shea requires full payment up front. Shea was the only wedding vendor who required this. When we were waiting on the photos and not getting a response from Shea until multiple e-mails were sent, I really regretted agreeing to pay the entire fee upfront. I would think a deposit, then a portion due the week of the wedding and then the balance due when the pictures are received would be more reasonable. It just made me feel foolish and taken advantage of. Of course, we did ultimately get all our wedding photos and they were beautiful. But the full payment upfront created such an imbalance of power and lack of leverage that it made me really uncomfortable. I would never agree to full payment up front again. Shea's work is really beautiful and I am so happy with the photos. Unfortunately, the customer service side of his business could be improved.

We're in California and weren't able to travel so everything had to be done at a distance--and my partner and I had a LOT of diverse requirements. Cathie and her company were recommended by one of our subject matter experts/interviewees, and we were so relieved. But beyond that, let me just say they have been a dream to work with--flexible, communicative, enthusiastic and ready to do whatever it took to get what we needed. In particular, they worked in partnership with us, came up with great ideas, and worked with our vision. Their expertise in both interviewing and event shoots has been outstanding, and they have brought more to the project than we ever thought to hope for. I can't recommend them strongly enough. The DJ performance was ok, but I did not love the transitions between songs, especially since some songs skipped in the middle. With that being said, their price was cheaper than many others and the DJ (Nate) was pleasant to deal with, however he can be opinionated (given his experience). I guess you get what you pay for. Also given that they are an established company, I was really skeptical given that they did not have many reviews on yelp. Once we signed up, the email exchanges were not very professional while discussing details. Their level of organization could be better as well.
