    I had no idea just how much the Trans-Jordan Landfill did, until I took a tour today! It was very…read moreeducational-I learned a lot and got to see the spaces up close and personal. Garbage is handled in an environmentally sound manner, according to government regulations. Sure, it's still best to reduce the amount of things you throw away in the beginning, but there will still be some things that just can't be recycled and need to be dealt with. The general public can bring trash here (cover your load or you'll get charged double). You can also bring recycling or household chemicals, etc. There's a shed where you can leave chemicals, paint, cleaners, etc. and take them for free. I'm making a mental note of that so I can remember in the future. They are building their last "cell" which is a space where the garbage is disposed, covered and methane gas is extracted for power. Once that is full, then this landfill will be at max capacity and our trash will have to be shipped to Utah county. This is a great facility that is handled very well. I wish we weren't such a wasteful society, but since we are, we need places like the Trans-Jordan Landfill to manage the excess.

I do wish green trash were free, but the ease of unloading was worth the $15 or $16. PS. Please take the time to safely secure your load!
