Wow, absolutely awful manners and customer service. Just got off the phone with this practice. Mrs…read more Drinkwater gave me a call back to my voicemail and seemed irate from the start. I asked her a few questions about trademark and classes and having a website and she was quick to cut me off mid question every single time. Even when she asked me a question in return and I gave a response she would cut me off. At the end of our THREE MINUTE conversation, I asked a question about the business aspect of the trademark to which she curtly, slowly, and condescendingly replied; "You called me to ask about trademark and I have answered that for you. Now you want me to answer a business question to which you would have to be my client and then we could discuss these things." Thanks for the obvious statement. I have worked with MANY different lawyers in my line of business and this one's attitude, lack of class or ability to kindly suggest I was going off subject, and impatience in just a THREE minute entire conversation didn't work for me. Would have been happy to be her client but NO THANK YOU. I let her know she didn't have to talk to me like I was a moron and hung up. Respect and kindness goes a long way these days. On the other hand, the NY trademark lawyer I called has called me twice now and we had a wonderful conversation. Best of luck to you Drinkwater!

At least I had the good sense to know we did need a lawyer and they recommended Drinkwater. I'm not sure how many people sing the praises for their lawyer but I definitely do! Kerry Eaton has helped us with the following (possibly more I may be forgetting): trademarks, review of all contracts/leases/important documents, formation, maintenance and management of entities (corporations & LLC's), employement law consult, acquisition and disposal consult, real estate matters, resident agent and since she is also a CPA she can view things from that angle as well. My questions and needs always get taken care of very fast and thorough. All of the staff is friendly, communicative and competent. I appreciate not having to remember or think about everything - if something needs attention, they let me know and have all the forms and paperwork prepared, ready for me to review and sign. Whenever I'm talking to new business people, this is usually one expense they'd like to skip. Not smart. Lawyers are not cheap, this is true, but if protection and compliance is your goal, this should not be something you DIY.

Gayle and I had last updated our Estate/Trust papers in 2016 when we lived in the Bay Area. We…read moresubsequently moved to Genoa NV in late 2020 and this year decided that our paperwork needed an update. We asked about for Estate Attorney recommendations, then took the advice of our friends Jim and Marti, who used Kelley Carroll at the Law Firm of Porter Simon. They have offices in Truckee and Reno. We contacted Kelley, made an in person appointment (at the Truckee office) and then proceeded to send him that last 2 revisions of our Estate/Trust documents. What Gayle and I really appreciated about or meeting with Kelley was deep knowledge of his field, laying out a reasonable path forward, and explaining opaque terms and concepts (at least to us) in a simple, understandable, and often humorous manner. From there, Gayle and I needed to make a few up front decisions regarding things like Successor Trustees, Agents, Power of Attorney, Health Directives, A/B Trust vs. Other, Distributions, etc. etc. That was easier than expected with Kelley's assistance. Probably our largest challenge was our own inertia in keeping the back and forth review process going and finishing up. The documents are now all signed and our Estate Trust/Papers are updated consistent with Nevada law. The process wasn't necessarily cheap, but the final product was an excellent value. The scope of work did not include 2 Nevada Health Directive programs which we need to do on our own: - POLST (Provider Order for Life Sustaining Treatment) - Nevada Lock Box where we could upload our advanced directives. We also need to work on what I'll call our "Letter of Instruction" which is information to help the folks left behind to find information on such things as accounts, passwords, and legal paperwork such as our Trust. I also have a well-considered "hunch" that as dynamics change within our greater family over the next several years, we will return to Kelley Carroll/Porter Simon for additional guidance. It's a relief to have this sort of professional service within the virtual Rolodex.
