Pros: Northway is a great church with many opportunities and ministries available for all ages. The…read moremusic is outstanding and services are transforming. Greeters and ushers are extremely welcoming and the prayer teams after service do a nice job. The safety team does a great job at protecting the campus at all times and I felt extremely safe going to Northway. Cons: The church statement and beliefs. Northway is a great church overall, but I confess we left extremely hurt. Everything was going well until we asked the Wexford campus pastor, Ryan Paskey to marry us. If you want to get married there, don't live together before marriage-my fiancée and I didn't realize this. We didn't know this was frowned upon with living together before marriage under the same roof. We were uneducated. Pastor Ryan refused to marry us unless we either (A.) moved the wedding date to the next week or (B.) he said we would have to move out of our home together, live apart and wait till our wedding date to move back in together. In addition to moving out, the Wexford Pastor said if we continued to live together, we both must resign immediately and give up our leadership positions within the church. There's a leadership covenant that you are expected to sign and we had no idea about this. This was never communicated till we approached the Wexford pastor. The last thing Paskey said that hurt the most was how the man needs to run the house and be in charge and women have 0 power and must be homemakers. Otherwise God was not present in our home. Remember that speech the Kansas City Chiefs kicker gave? That's what Northway believes and how the Wexford preacher spoke to us. Also, they don't remember you since it's a mega church and forget the new people. With all this being said, we stepped away and found a new church home thankfully. We were deeply hurt, confused, angry and disappointed. We believe God wasn't angry at us. We forgive pastor Ryan, but we highly disagree with the views he displayed. We felt compelled to write this review to prevent others from making the same mistakes we did. We will respect Northway, the staff and the people for who they are, but we highly disagree with the views and church statement of values. We wish them all the best moving forward. We just don't plan to attend there unless serious changes of modernization are made.

We felt welcomed the moment we walked in. There are so many things we love about Northway and would recommend the church to everyone!

St Mary's Church - Fried Fish Dinner, available Fridays during Lent

St Mary's Church

With only one free Friday during Lent, I will always opt for the fish dinner at St. Mary's. The…read moreprice has gone up to $10 for an adult dinner but they do offer senior discounts and kid's dinners as well. St. Mary's is definitely one of the more popular church fish dinners but don't let the crowd discourage you, this is the real deal. When you first walk in, there is a table where you tell them how many dinners you want. For each dinner, you get a piece of paper that is your order form. Options are fried or baked fish, dinner roll or sandwich bun and three sides (corn, green beans, mac n cheese, baked potato, cole slaw....and I think I'm forgetting a few). You can also order several condiments (butter, sour cream, cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, lemon, ketchup, etc). You mark the order form with what you would like and get in line. Once you make your way through the serpentine and reach the food counter you hand over your order form and your meal is assembled down the line piece by piece. Every year I continue to be impressed with how efficiently this place runs. Once you get your completed dinner on a tray, it can be tricky finding a seat. I recommend finding a seat and then getting your drink. There is a separate drink area that offers Schneider's beverages (milk, chocolate milk, lemonade, orange drink, iced tea), water, coffee and tea, as well as wine and beer. There is a $1 donation required for wine and beer but no limit on the non-alcoholic drinks. The $10 also gets you a dessert from an assortment donated by church members. The portions are generous and with three sides (baked potato, corn and cole slaw) I could barely finish my meal so I selected a dessert to go. Takeout orders can also be placed (there are even chairs set up for those waiting for orders to be filled) but I highly recommend staying there for the full Catholic Church fish fry dinner experience. It could be the best $10 you'll ever spend. At least on a fish dinner.

Fish was large hot and crispy very good portion and taste. NO HOT SAUCE unfortunately. They had cocktail, tarter and catsup though. Sat down and ate. I would go back again.
