They did have a charge associated with having the architect come out that was very small. I can't remember what it was, but it will be baked into the ultimate project payments. Did I shop around? Well... no. These guys have done a lot of work on my house. They have amazing integrity, good pricing from my past shopping around, I can trust them with my dogs and we are mimicking the amazing front porch design they created for me so it just makes sense to stay with a company I trust. A ++ on communication - everyone showed up when they said they were going to or called if running late, which i really appreciated. I was very impressed with how their payment plan was structured - it made me confident that the job would get done. There were a few things i asked for a change on and they completed the change without too much fuss. Overall good experience with the company. The new bath is definitely the favorite room now; we might have to upgrade the rest of the house to match.

I hired EJH to perform restoration work on my home after a fire January 17, 2021. They sent a…read moreproject manager out to give me an estimate, and I was told that I would be able to be back in my home within 4 to 6 weeks. I asked for an estimate of cost, and was told that I could reasonably expect a cost of $50,000 to $60,000 at most. Actual final cost of repair was over $110,000. Demo started that week, and was complete within a month. However, that is the point at which work stopped. The project manager who had been on my project left the company suddenly, and a new project manager was assigned. That is the point at which communication took a drastic turn for the worse. The new PM would never return calls. I had to leave messages for the company owner to get any contact back. There was no work at all completed for more than 6 weeks. My insurance adjuster kept asking for a written estimate, and told me to tell EJH that they wouldn't be approving any repairs until they had a written estimate. Finally after 3 months, I showed up at their office and refused to leave without a meeting face to face. When I said I wanted a time frame of when it would be done, the PM looked at me unbelievably that I actually expected a date, a week, a month or even a year...that meeting was in August 2021, and I was told I would be home by October. Work started again the middle of September, and a 3rd PM was assigned, who told me I would be home by Christmas 2021. The work was MOSTLY complete by the middle of March 2022, and the PM wanted a check for payment in full even though the work wasn't yet complete. To this date, December 15 2022, there is still work they said would be completed and has not yet been done. Do NOT hire EJH.

I called a third time and received apologies for the lack of communication. A person came out two days prior to Thanksgiving to quote us in adding a sunroom. It is December 23 and we have not heard back from anybody. I'm not that interested in working with a business that you have to work FOR. I thought it should be the other way around. We will absolutely not recommend them to any of our friends nor will we continue with this company. It's been nothing but a huge disappointment.

In one case, their quote was less than half of a competitor from the Detroit area that was trying to break into our market in mid-Michigan. (What a scam - and it's proof that on big items it definitely pays to get more than one quote.) We were impressed by the way they kept the clean-up constantly going from taking off the old shingles until the job was completed. They took great care with our substantial landscaping too. The team showed up when promised and finished the re-roofing quickly within a few days. The owner was wonderful to deal with, and we were very happy with the job they did. We highly recommend this firm.

Started project in 2021, Brad from Peaks met with us, discussed scope of project, and we signed…read morecontract. Peaks started project but when we were concerned with workmanship Peaks stopped work. Called office numerous times and were told need to talk to Brad and get back to us. Over 3 years later and 1500 phone calls to Peaks trying to get answers on when they were going to complete project or refund our money and we would find a new contractor. Peaks never returned calls - always told had to talk to Brad and would get back to you. Put down $20K to start work - only work completed was drywall and trim in one 17 x 1 ft room. Drywall was wavy. Trim person had to fir out drywall in spots to get trim to lay flush - shoddy workmanship. Paid $19K to have all granite replaced in kitchen. Never replaced and would not refund money. Brad agreed to store our stone at his warehouse to keep it out of the way of trades until framing completed and stone could be installed. After numerous attempts to get stone from Brad, finally agreed to give it only if we would sign a fake letter that we owed $9K in storage fees and would not help load over 1000 sq ft in pallets with fork lift, made trades load by hand onto trucks. For any person looking for Peaks to do work - BE FOREWARNED! Brad and his company Peaks are not trustworthy, do not stick to schedule as promised, and ignore clients. He stole our money and refuses to refund. We are currently in litigation with Peaks to return money owed to us. We asked them if we could just get our monies back and move on but Brad stole our money and refuses to answer us. HE IS A SNEAKY LIAR! DO NOT TRUST THEM! I'm sure Brad/Peaks will respond to this with please call our office to reach a settlement but that is a total LIE! He may seem nice and honest but he is NOT! I'm trying to warn any person(s) to not do business with Peaks! We do not anyone to have to go through our nightmare with this SHYSTER! PLEASE BEWARE!

He showed us shingle samples & explained the difference between them. He was also very knowledgeable about the repair needed on the metal roof of the Florida room. The crew came out when they said they would. The job was completed in 1 1/2 days. All shrubbery was covered & the clean up was excellent. Would definitely recommend this company for any construction project. Oh, no money down & payment wasn't expected until the job was completed & if we were satisfied with the job.

Here is a list of quality concerns we expressed to the company:…read more* Cutting in around tile, door frames and molding is sloppy in nearly every room. In order to address this, we will need to sand and repaint some areas- not something I expect to have to do after I hired a professional painter to take care of this. * Instances noted around ceiling and/or molding in several rooms where small pieces of wallpaper remained and were painted over, rather than fully removed prior to painting. While pointed out, they were not addressed. * Holes and other damage were not consistently patched and painted. After several rooms were indicated to be complete, we found areas where patching and painting needed to be completed. Many you addressed, but not all, and several were noted in kitchen after you left. In fact, we left sticky notes in the rooms to address problem areas- multiple sticky notes were still on the walls after the project was "completed." * Though hardware was removed from walls in order to complete work, few were reattached to walls at the end of project. There are also multiple switch plates missing. * In multiple rooms, the wallpaper glue was not fully removed and painted over. The sunlight highlights the textural difference and will need to be redone. * Because drop-cloths were not used to cover traffic areas, carpets became soiled with dirt and dust accumulation as a result of: 1) wallpaper glue and water on shoes from room being worked on to adjacent rooms; 2) drywall dust being tracked from room to room; and 3) frequent visits outside. As a result, the carpets will need to be cleaned. The carpet cleaning company quoted $150 to get out the dirt and dust; which is extremely frustrating considering we just had the carpets shampooed just a week before we had the furniture delivered. That was only a week before the paint project. Not only were the carpets soiled with dirt and dust, there are also two areas of the carpet covered in paint. * Again, because drop-cloths were not used consistently when painting, paint splatter was found all over the tub, toilet, tile and other molding. Though identified AND communicated, this was not cleaned and resulted in my husband cleaning after the fact. Significant paint splatter on the molding in the kitchen nook was mentioned to you, nothing was done to rectify this. * On the night before the "final day onsite," because your assistant was gone for the day and was on onto another job the following morning, you asked my husband if he minded cleaning the upstairs bathroom (floors covered in both wallpaper glue and drywall dust) so that you could paint that room and complete things timely. He did so in good faith effort for you to complete the work efficiently and with understanding that a discount would be offered as he was completing work on behalf of your crew. * While we understood that things would be a work in progress and not thoroughly cleaned each night, more attention and care should have been done especially in the kitchen....at least to get things to a reasonable level. Our house was left a complete mess every single night over the two weeks. Because of the drywall dust, and the fact that you brought no vacuum with you, nearly each night we had to clean up all rooms being worked on so that to ensure all the dust and dirt from the wall paper removal and patching was not carried to other areas of the house. * In addition to the nightly clean-up, after the project was completed, it took almost 2.5 hours to clean up the mess that was left.
