( low staff moral I'm guessing). Then to find the exit entrance at the back of the store has now closed permanently due to store theft.. idea... put a security guard on the exit entrance. this is extremely concerning from a health and safety perspective as a emergency exit, everyone running for the stairs in a fire of a building of that size is dangerous. do better primark!

I've tried to shop more ethically, honest I have. But something about this store keeps driving me back. I thought I was cured when all Bristol had to offer was the worst of the worst Primark's, with their poor selection and disorganised layout. But then they opened a super-store sized outlet and I just couldn't resist. I'm not saying it's the best one I've been to, and I've been to MANY, but I've never come out empty handed. My favourite thing about the brand new shiny Primark is their range of accessories which take up almost a third of the ground floor. Their underwear department is a bit lacking, but their sparkly dresses and cheap hosiery more than make up for it. The queues are still long, and you need a patient of a saint to trawl through the rails, but compared to most Primark stores this one is well managed and easy to navigate.

By these names alone you should have a bit of an insight into what Sublime Clothing has in store for you; punk and rock designed t-shirts, trendy accessories and official band merchandise. Being a bit of a nerd at heart, I was a bit intimidated by the tattooed girls and boys that shop here - but the smiley, friendly, helpful assistants chat happily chatted away about everything and nothing. Even though the style of Sublime Clothing isn't for me, there's no doubting how unique and interesting the clothes and accessories are. My favourite things here were a keyboard belt and beautifully intricate posters - perfect for adorning the walls of student digs all over Bristol.

The chains approach is to take brand names clothes, pile 'em high and sell them a bit cheaper than the RRP. This means you can find some real gems here but it does take a fair bit of searching of a little luck to manage it. The Bristol TK Maxx differs only in being slightly more Bristolian. The staff are friendly and usually not to be found. You'll here a request for all staff to go to the checkout once, twice, then four more times before the person on the till gives up. John Lewis this is not. I love TK Maxx nonetheless, bringing decent fashion slightly more within the reach of us without too much money by making a slightly stressful game of going shopping.

Much to my surprise, pleasure and happiness, there was a Pret right there as soon as we walked in! Breakfast at the hotel was on the pricey side so we knew where we'd be coming in the morning and we certainly needed to get fueled up for a day of shopping! CC has lots of high end, brand name stores and with even more shops beyond the boundaries of CC, this made for a lovely day of retail therapy. My poor husband... oh well, at least they had an Apple store for him. ;)

This diatribe was followed by much squealing and excited handclapping from the two thirty year olds in the corner of the coffee shop. This wasn't the first time I'd heard of Radley handbags. I imagined them to be lined with gold with diamond trimming the way grown women cooed and longed for them. So when Radley's shop opened in Bristol I thought I'd check out what all the fuss was about. I have to admit I was sorely disappointed. All I could see where endless rows of generic over-priced handbags in a range of pastel colours. Even though they're incredibly sought after, I find the tiny dog tag hanging from each of their handles a little too kitsch for my taste. The shop itself is well laid out and a pleasure to be in. The shop assistants are eager to help and incredibly pleasant, but the Radley trend just isn't for me.

The Bristol shop is well arranged and clean and slick inside, with a very wide range to choose from. Look out for little Radley gift sets around the festive period as ideal presents for aunties and mum.

But with a wave of teenage nostalgia rolling over me I walked right in. The tunes blaring from radio from the likes of My Chemical Romance and Good Charlotte are possible design to keep anyone over the age of 17 away. There's official band merchandise to be had; posters, t-shirts, wrist bands and CDs all at reasonable prices. The fellas behind the till seemed a bit angsty but perfectly pleasant. Great for younger brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.

Well established for some time now this handy little store in St Nicholas' Market sells a broad selection of metal, punk and rock merchandise as well as a selection of branded clothing such as hooded tops. Chunky belt buckles, CDs and unique T shirts are all good selling points here. There's always a fine selection of posters outside and over the speakers something that, well, it's not dance music.

Walking into the low-lit shop brought me right back to being in the hot, hot heat and feeling drunk at midday. I love browsing the oversized shoulder bags and garish belts and feel a real envy over women confident enough to wear them. The prices aren't cheap, as you are paying for the name and quality, but if you see a bag you love I'm sure it's worth every penny.

Until i moved to Bristol I hadn't ever found a solely Ollie & Nic shop, I'd only ever seen it as concessions within other shops. It just opposite H&M / Topshop, and they always seem to have quite a good window display. The shop itself is quite small, and it's packed solid with all shapes, sizes and colours of bags, purses and general accessories, I sometimes get the feeling that I can't see for looking in here, and they might sell more if they took 10% out. Some of the stock I really like, some of it I don't, it's nice that it's maintain quite a local almost one off feel even though it's a well known brand.

It's always a joy to window shop here - the bright, airy and colourful store gives me a lift just by walking through the doors. They often have sales but they tend to be on the extremely expensive stuff, so it's still unobtainable. But there is the odd gem to be had as long as you keep your eyes peeled and pop by regularly.
