Terrible move removing the tills and replacing with self check outs. The queue was so long for the till that was open as you can not take returns to self check out. the one staff member on the tills who served me was super miserable . ( low staff moral I'm guessing). Then to find the exit entrance at the back of the store has now closed permanently due to store theft.. idea... put a security guard on the exit entrance. this is extremely concerning from a health and safety perspective as a emergency exit, everyone running for the stairs in a fire of a building of that size is dangerous. do better primark! read more

Hello. My name's Jenni. I'm 23. And I'm a Primark-holic. I'm embarrassed, and deeply ashamed. But their disposable fashion and cheaper than cheap prices are addictive. I've tried to shop more ethically, honest I have. But something about this store keeps driving me back. I thought I was cured when all Bristol had to offer was the worst of the worst Primark's, with their poor selection and disorganised layout. But then they opened a super-store sized outlet and I just couldn't resist. I'm not saying it's the best one I've been to, and I've been to MANY, but I've never come out empty handed. My favourite thing about the brand new shiny Primark is their range of accessories which take up almost a third of the ground floor. Their underwear department is a bit lacking, but their sparkly dresses and cheap hosiery more than make up for it. The queues are still long, and you need a patient of a saint to trawl through the rails, but compared to most Primark stores this one is well managed and easy to navigate. read more

What sells Primark is that it's so darn cheap. You can get a suit for less than fifty quid, shoes for four quid. Some might question the quality of these goods, perhaps suggesting that they aren't as durable as the equivalents in other department stores. This may be true. But even if they only last for a couple of months, four pound shoes (four pounds!) are always a good idea. One word of warning: never wait. Given that Primark is as cheap as chips, there were always going to concerns about its ethics. But after revelations of illegal labour practices, use of child labour and poor working conditions I couldn't bring myself to go to Primark. The Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Primark has "significantly ramped up" ethical trading operations since the damaging documentary which showed young children sewing the beads and sequins onto cheap clothing. And so with that bit of news, I ended up finally checking out the new Primark, what a change to the old primark which was just hell. It is huge and clothes are well spaced out. I was here during the afternoon and there were still big queues. I rather go be trussed up and barbecued over a hot grill than go here on a Saturday! I ended up coming in to have a quick look and buy some tights and came out with silver hotpants and some fab sunglasses which were only £1 and which I have had loads of compliments on. Don't go into Primark to just look around or get one thing as you will come out loaded down with cheap goods. Primark, a guilty pleasure. read more

As a student I am a fan of this shop purely for it's cheap factor - however I am well aware of the amount of shifting through clothes and stuff you normally have to do at these stores, and some are even more like jumble stores than actual clothes shops! However, with a fairly recent opening in Bristol, this particular branch really impressed me - and you wouldn't really guess it was a primark from the design and interior! The store is massive - the second largest in the country - and is designed more like a department store, in the way that everything is in different segments making it easy to find what you're looking for, and all the clothes are on the hangers for a change - looking pretty smart and much more attractive! Although stuff does generally fall apart from here after a few washes, their stuff is great value for money - and this branch is definitely the best I have been to. I also had no problem with returning a broken bag, they literally gave me a new one without any squabble. So as far as Primark goes - brilliant! read more

You have to have suspicions about how Primark can afford to make and sell pairs of jeans for 3 pounds. I'm not accusing them of anything illegal of course (that would be libellous) but it's fair to say that some of the cheaper goods are not too high quality. I always find the store is a mess, but it's not really Primark's fault. Every morning they rearrange the clothes tidily in piles, and then they're descended on by hordes of bargain-hunting customers who throw the clothes all over the place in their hunt for exactly their size. It's tidy if you go there at 10am. If you go in at 4pm it looks like a bomb hit it. However if you just want some casual clothes, if you can put the possible ethical concerns out of your mind, and because of the credit crunch blah blah blah it's still a very popular place to shop. read more

If you don't believe that we are actually animals i suggest you come down here on a Saturday. Primark's cheap clothes have an innate ability to reduce at least 50% of the people that walk into their stores into complete animals pushing, barging in order to get their hands on whatever they can, and lets face it this is probably the one shop were they wont be running out anytime soon. I generally come here if i need some clothes for a fancy dress party it is usually the most inexpensive place to go, and they pretty much have anything under the sun. As a rule i wouldn't go in here though, i hate the principle of disposable fashion, and i find it worrying how cheap they are able to sell their clothes. read more

I'm not going to lie...I love this Primark! Unlike all the others around the country, this one is massive and spacious. I have found that the ones I have visited in the past have had too many clothes in a too small a space so you are constantly rubbing shoulders with countless shoppers and ducking out of the way as someone behind you grabs an item of clothing from above you. This one is different. Spaced out over 3 massive floors, this Primark has the air of John Lewis about it. One thing I have previously loathed about Primarks is the fact that EVERY shoppers just throws unwanted items on the floor. I can't understand it as it would never happen in different shop! This does happen in the Bristol store, however there are a lot more staff who are constantly picking things up so the floor is spotless! The variety of accessories and beauty products is also very impressive and of course the prices are really good read more

One for the ladies this one. As Primark stores go this one is fairly obscene and in a twisted commercial way, that means good. It is very, very big and pilled high with cheap tatty clothes, that if you accessories, you can apparently transform into great outfits. For us blokes out there it looks like a giant jumble sale with clothes all over the floor and women carelessly flinging stuff here there and everywhere. The men's clothes for the most part aren't very good and as a rule not "accessoriable" (just made that word up). Awesome if you're a woman on the hunt for a bargain. Horrendous for men pretty much all of the time and can only think you would be in here against your will. read more

I'm in an ethical and financial quandry of the highest order. At Bristol's brand new Primark I'm faced with four floors bulging with cheap-as-chips garments and accessories, jumpers for less than a fiver, shoes for the price of a supermarket sandwich. This is clearly wrong in so many ways - why are these things so cheap? How can they possibly last more than a couple of months? My homespun heart cries out for vintage and handmade one-off pieces that I can treasure forever, but my purse wants change for twenty pounds and a whole new winter wardrobe! So - girls (and fashion conscious, penny-pinching guys) go here for a quick fashion fix, this season's big thing, pop in to buy the odd t-shirt or fashion-forward bracelet in your lunch hour. But if you're looking for something truly original, head to a retro store or charity shop and you won't end up looking like everybody else. read more

The first time I came here I made the mistake of it being half term, it was heaving, and I pretty much knocked out a couple of teenagers (it was an accident, honest). I left pretty quickly. I made a second attempt with my zen rating on high and having checked the dates. Much better. The store is vast - they took the space previously habited by House of Fraser and opened it all up. The clothing is EVERYWHERE. There are a lot of staff just clearing up stuff from the floor and wrong areas and that must be all they do. Despite being surrounded by carnage and teenagers they all seem to have to faces calm as Hindu cows, maybe they put something in their tea. The boy checking in people at the changing rooms was the happiest and politest person I have ever seen doing that job. Not something I expected at all. There were a lot of clothes here that I couldn't even figure out how to wear, let alone want to be seen out in public with. It is all very cheap - £2 for jewellery, £4 tshirts, £13 dresses. The fit isn't great but I ended up buying a dress which I intend to shorten into a top, because at that price its OK to customise the clothes. With instant fashion being key here, I'm guessing that is what the kids are doing, and the kids are alright. read more

However, I'm giving it 3 stars for the simple reason that I'm sick of seeing my fellow students wearing the same variations of garish designs from this unethically sound mass produced behemoth. Everyone was so excited to hear that Bristol was set to become home to the second biggest Primark (or Primani as it's known to some followers, yes followers, I think it's fair to say Primark has a following). And I don't think anyone was disappointed. Yes, I know there are some shady areas when it comes to the ethics of the company, but it takes a very strong person to knock back such cheap but relatively fashionable goods. At the bottom of the store is the menswear, homeware and customer services section. It is here you will find, throws, cushions and bed linen as well as the seasonal stuff, including Christmas decorations. The ground floor is home to the newer seasonal stuff, summer dresses and t-shirts and shorts at the moment then. And upstairs you have the basic jeans, shirts, jackets and underwear. The sale rails are great and you can pick up jackets for £3, vest tops for £1 and even winter coats for a fiver. Understandably, this place is rammed with kids during the weekends and school holidays. Probably best to go later in the evening - it's open past 6pm. read more

I wouldn't normally review such a big chain but this Primark (or Primarni as I affectionately call it) is worth mentioning if only just for its sheer size and the ripples of excitement it caused when opening. I think it's the second biggest in the country and as Bristol only had an embarrassingly shabby and small one before, fashionistas on a budget all over the city yelled with consumer-laden joy when it opened. It is gigantic. I get low blood sugar even thinking about it. It's not an ethical place to shop, judging by the cheap cheap price tags on everything but everybody gets sucked in sooner or later. To be honest even though it is better than before I hardly ever buy things here any more. They are so cheaply made that they tend not to last and you will usually see about 600 other people wearing them. But if you want that on-trend item for a fraction of the price you'll pay in other shops then Primark is the place for you. However, it does get mobbed on the weekends and by the end of the day resembles the sort of jumble sale I imagine takes place in Hades. read more

i find primark to be a very scabby looking shop with not very good clothing, you can find a bargain in there but will take you a while. i dont like how there is always clothes and clothes all chucked on the floor infront of you as their staff just cannot be bothered to pick it up! i also find the staff very rude which makes it very uncomfortable to shop in. the one good thing they sell in primark is their underwear, they have lovely, comfortable designs for a good price. read more

Yes, this store normally is in a complete mess, but if you're buying boots for £6, you can't really complain. Even when it's really busy and the queue is half way across the store it still moves pretty fast as they always have a ton of staff on. Not the biggest Primark so they don't carry the full range but there's enough there for me. read more

As far as primark stores go I don't think this one is the best. Im not sure what it is but the store never seems laid out very well which means that in order to find a decent bargain you really have to hunt around. There are often clothes all over the place and even on the floor and not one set of items are placed together which means that looking for something is difficult. The changing rooms are old and slightly worse for wear too and the shop assistants come across as unhelpful and quite frankly rude which means that you are put off from asking where to find things! On the plus side though if you are willing to have a rifle around you can normally find a bargain other primark stores however make this easier! read more

Although cheap, don't ever loose your receipt. I recently had a pair of shoes bought for my daughter which were 2 small but I didnt have the receipt. I thought like all stores I would still be able to exchange them for the next size up. They didnt have any other available sizes in that particular shoe so I asked if I could exchange for something else. The lady just shrugged her shoulders and said theres nothing we can do, its our policy and wouldn't exchange them! I thought this was pretty bad service as all I wanted was to change the size of the shoe (Which were still all tagged etc) which I was unable to do as they didnt have the size required. I am now stuck with a pair of shoes that dont fit my daughter and am able to do nothing about it! Ludicrous! read more
