The bottom line from a "real" Yelper is that Steve is the best agent in the insurance business, bar none! Steve cares more about you as a person and not just a number than most of your friends and family do. He makes certain that you have the proper coverages (and not any more than that!) even if he has to talk you out of things you don't need. He also makes sure you know how to deal with the adjuster, what to do, what to say, etc to make sure they don't screw you when there IS a claim. After moving to San Diego, I unfortunately, had to cancel all my policies with Steve because American Family isn't in California. But, just last week, in the middle of dealing with my current insurance company over a flood claim, I called and talked to Steve for almost an hour and got invaluable advice that is probably going to make sure I get my claim accepted. And this conversation happened even though I don't currently have ONE SINGLE POLICY with him right now! And that's the way he is with ALL his clients... I have heard him on the phone with many people. He just cares. And that is very unusual these days. I met Steve by acquiring a policy on my car in 1996, but I am proud to say that I consider him a friend and he is a better one than most.

I have learned so much from him over the years and always appreciate his willingness to share his knowledge. You can tell his long experience in the industry serves him well to speak with confidence and accuracy as he evaluates your personal situation and needs. And he is always incredibly responsive! Sometimes I call him with silly questions, but there have been times where Steve senses my anxiety about a situation (big hail claim, thank you Colorado) and always makes sure I have his cell number. The first time they offered to do half the roof for damages leaving the house with mismatched shingles (we did not repair only half the roof), the second time they said there was no damage at all, the most recent time they said there is hail damage to the plastic hood over the deck, but not the roof itself. Each of these time all different and experienced contractors have agreed there is hail damage on the roof. American family is UNPROFESSIONAL as well, the most recent adjuster didn't show until being called and came with her mastiff dog fifteen minutes late. Would not recommend, they act like there job is to say no to all claims. They do not help their clients.

I have been a customer of State Farm Insurance for around 40 years. I received a notice a few…read moreweeks ago that State Farm was not renewing my Homeowners insurance due to "Claim History". On their termination letter, they listed the offending claims. The first was a payout of $0.00 and the second was a payout of $289.00 I immediately contacted Amos Baca who has been my agent for over 15 years. Their office said that the decision was from their underwriters and not from them and unsuccessfully tried to appeal the decision. I should add that my rating applies more to State Farm corporate than to Amos who did what he could to try to appeal it. This decision of theirs is based on the fact that the two claims I had (one of which should not even count since they paid out $0.00) within a year. Not making any allowances for the zero dollar claim and for the longevity of my association with this company in unconscionable. I am now moving all of my insurance to a new company and will never do business with State Farm again. I strongly recommend avoiding this company altogether. Look at how they are treating homeowners in Colorado who were affected by the Marshall Fire. This company used to be a "good neighbor" but now this "neighbor" figuratively shit on my lawn. State Farm is a bunch of greedy crooks.

RUN! I would NEVER use this company again! I would give zero starts! Good reviews are from 2018…read more- 2019! Safeco had to go. I sent an email on March 2 that Safeco had to go immediately. Again, March 9 an email was sent. March 26th I hired a new broker and took care of my business. Cancellation left my houses not covered for the 31st of March - no one would provide any proof of coverage for that day. I had to call Safeco to get it. Owner advised clerk did nothing wrong??? Not True! No exception was made to take over my accounts. Prior broker did the same, no response, no answers, terminated. Our communication has always been via email. I called you when the date of cancellation left my homes not covered for 24 hours and I could not get proof that Safeco had them covered. Email from Steven not sufficient, it needed to be Safeco...I asked Steven if I have a problem (no coverage March 31) if he was going to be responsible for the damages, of course not! Safeco provided a screen shot, that was all Steven had to do, but did not. Never received any email from him. He simply defended the neglect from his clerk (March 2 and March 9) and did not care what I had to say. PROOF IS IN THE EMAILS!
